+25 BONUS Chapter 0057 Ella POV âItâs been a long day,â my father said sternly. âElla needs to rest.â
It was clear that David had more he wanted to say, but he wasnât going to argue with my father in public. He nodded his head mutely and stepped aside.
My father put his arm around my shoulders and led me quiddy away from the crowd of onlookers. Before I knew it, we were in the car and heading home.
My father sat in the seat beside me with a look of concentration on his face. I still felt shaken by what had happened. I wasnât sure what to do or even what to think.
I wanted to say something to my father to take away his stress, but there was nothing that I could think of.
My phone started to ring. Without thinking, I pulled it out of my pocket. It was Alexander calling. The contact name made me fumble, nearly dropping my phone. I quickly muted my screen to avoid my father seeing it.
If he saw that my âflanceâ was calling me he would think it was David. That would cause nothing but trouble. I needed to change the contact name when I had a chance. Still, I couldnât just make it Alexander. I still wasnât ready for people to know that I was connected with him. I would have to think of something My father looked at me curiously. âArenât you going to answer the phone?â he asked.
I shook my head. âNo, Iâll talk to them later.â
He shrugged. When we arrived at the house, my mother was waiting at the door. It was clear that she had already been informed about what happened. I hadnât heard my father call her, but it was possible they had been texting.
I had been so lost in thought that I hadnât been paying much attention to what he was doing.
She rushed forward and pulled me into a hug. I hugged her back tightly.
âIâm okay, mom,â I assured her.
âThe capital is increasingly dangerous, it seems,â my mother said as she led us into the living room.
âIt seems that the only crime in the capital is aimed at our daughter,â my father replied bitterly.
âIt also seems that youâve made a determined enemy,â my mother agreed, looking at me. âI believe that whoever arranged for that rogue to attack you today is the same one who arranged for our kidnapping.â
She sat on the couch, and my father joined her. I sat on the chair across from them..
âYouâre probably right,â I replied, âbut the question is who and what could they possibly hope to gain from it?â
âDo you believe Davidâs explanation for today?â she asked. That it was all Amandaâs doing?â
âI donât know,â I said.
âIt would be incredibly foolish for her to have done something like this, but I believe that we both know desperation can push people to do foolish things,â my father said.
âI find it strange that Amanda could be behind these attacksâ my mother said. âHow would she have the money to pay these rogues to take such a risk as attacking the daughter of an alpha? And how would she have contact with them?â
I felt my eyes go wide at her words. I had never thought about how Amanda could be pulling off these attacks. She 1/2 +25 BONUS Chapter 0057 might be even more dangerous than I had realized.
âThe rogue activity in the kingdom has increased in the past years,â my father said, âbut as far as I know, the Gray River pack has no connection to rogues. They have such a small territory, I donât see what the benefit to the rogues would be in partnering with them.â
âI very much doubt that Amandaâs parents would have any involvement in this,â my mother said. âThey are very conflictâaverse and content to manage their pack without aspiring to gain more power.
âI agree,â he replied. âIt seems to me that if Amanda is doing this, she has somehow found a way to do it on her OWILâ
âBut what can we do to stay safe?â I asked.
