+25 BONUS Chapter 0057 Ella POV “It’s been a long day,” my father said sternly. “Ella needs to rest.”

It was clear that David had more he wanted to say, but he wasn’t going to argue with my father in public. He nodded his head mutely and stepped aside.

My father put his arm around my shoulders and led me quiddy away from the crowd of onlookers. Before I knew it, we were in the car and heading home.

My father sat in the seat beside me with a look of concentration on his face. I still felt shaken by what had happened. I wasn’t sure what to do or even what to think.

I wanted to say something to my father to take away his stress, but there was nothing that I could think of.

My phone started to ring. Without thinking, I pulled it out of my pocket. It was Alexander calling. The contact name made me fumble, nearly dropping my phone. I quickly muted my screen to avoid my father seeing it.

If he saw that my “flance” was calling me he would think it was David. That would cause nothing but trouble. I needed to change the contact name when I had a chance. Still, I couldn’t just make it Alexander. I still wasn’t ready for people to know that I was connected with him. I would have to think of something My father looked at me curiously. “Aren’t you going to answer the phone?” he asked.

I shook my head. “No, I’ll talk to them later.”

He shrugged. When we arrived at the house, my mother was waiting at the door. It was clear that she had already been informed about what happened. I hadn’t heard my father call her, but it was possible they had been texting.

I had been so lost in thought that I hadn’t been paying much attention to what he was doing.

She rushed forward and pulled me into a hug. I hugged her back tightly.

“I’m okay, mom,” I assured her.

“The capital is increasingly dangerous, it seems,” my mother said as she led us into the living room.

“It seems that the only crime in the capital is aimed at our daughter,” my father replied bitterly.

“It also seems that you’ve made a determined enemy,” my mother agreed, looking at me. “I believe that whoever arranged for that rogue to attack you today is the same one who arranged for our kidnapping.”

She sat on the couch, and my father joined her. I sat on the chair across from them..

“You’re probably right,” I replied, “but the question is who and what could they possibly hope to gain from it?”

“Do you believe David’s explanation for today?” she asked. That it was all Amanda’s doing?”

“I don’t know,” I said.

“It would be incredibly foolish for her to have done something like this, but I believe that we both know desperation can push people to do foolish things,” my father said.

“I find it strange that Amanda could be behind these attacks” my mother said. “How would she have the money to pay these rogues to take such a risk as attacking the daughter of an alpha? And how would she have contact with them?”

I felt my eyes go wide at her words. I had never thought about how Amanda could be pulling off these attacks. She 1/2 +25 BONUS Chapter 0057 might be even more dangerous than I had realized.

“The rogue activity in the kingdom has increased in the past years,” my father said, “but as far as I know, the Gray River pack has no connection to rogues. They have such a small territory, I don’t see what the benefit to the rogues would be in partnering with them.”

“I very much doubt that Amanda’s parents would have any involvement in this,” my mother said. “They are very conflict–averse and content to manage their pack without aspiring to gain more power.

“I agree,” he replied. “It seems to me that if Amanda is doing this, she has somehow found a way to do it on her OWIL”

“But what can we do to stay safe?” I asked.
