Holdenâs face tightened, and he quickly had someone look into Zaydenâs recent whereabouts.
Before long, he got a reply.
âMr.
Fredrick, Zaydenâs been in Conata for a while.
He hasnât returned to Eleymond.
â
If Zayden wasnât around, he couldnât be the one who had taken Melon and Adele.
So who else could have taken them away?
Ariana couldnât just do nothing.
She had experienced the heartbreak of losing people close to her, and she had lost her child before.
She didnât want to go through that again.
Melon was all she had now.
Her anxiety sent her running out of the kindergarten, checking with the nearby shops one by one.
She watched their security footage, desperate for clues.
Finally, in the footage of the fifth shop she checked, she spotted someone familiar at the corner of the street, leading Melon and Adele away.
It was Sadie.
As soon as Ariana saw Sadie, she exploded.
âWhy on earth would that lunatic take Melon?â she muttered.
She thought about all of Sadieâs erratic behavior and how Sadie had treated Adele.
The thought of Melon with Sadie terrified Ariana.
Ariana had already lost her daughter, and now, Melon was all she had left.
She was determined not to let anyone take her child.
Holdenâs expression darkened after watching the security footage.
He took out his phone, unblocked Sadieâs number, and called her.
The call rang several times, but Sadie didnât answer.
âShe probably took Melon and Adele somewhere close to the kindergarten,â Holden muttered before hanging up.
Ariana couldnât wait any longer; she rushed to that area to search for them.
They were just approaching the entrance of the kindergarten when Sadie emerged, walking back with two children.
Arianaâs heart pounded; she hurried forward, scooped up Melon, and quickly checked him for any signs of harm, all without uttering a word.
Melon, sensing his motherâs intense anger, stayed completely silent.
Sadie observed Ariana frantically examining Melon and couldnât resist a cold chuckle.
âRelax, I didnât do anything to your child.
â
Ariana glared at Sadie, barely holding back her fury.
Sadie scoffed, âI just took Adele out shopping because she missed me.
I saw your son looking sad without his mom around, so I invited him along.
I didnât want him to do something to my daughter while I was away.
â
Hearing that, Ariana slapped Sadie.
The sound echoed around them.
Melon was shocked.
He had never seen his mom so furious.
âI donât care what your intentions were.
But you better stop,â Ariana snapped, shielding Melon.
âYou know you have no good intentions towards Adele.
But if you ever lay a finger on my son again, I swear Iâll drag you down with me even if I die.
â
She then pulled Melon into the car with her.
