Mitchel and Rodney also frowned.
Rodney spoke up.
âSo this wasnât an accident!â
Holdenâs expression turned cold as he instructed Shawn, âFind out everywhere this car has been.
â
Devin added, âThe car was barely used; it had been retrieved recently.
I checked it myself before Miss Edwards and the children went out.
The only time it was used was to take Miss Edwards out.
â
Holden didnât hesitate.
âThen we need to search our house, every single inch.
â
Hearing this, Mitchel said, âIn that case, letâs check everyone who was at the farm here as well.
With all those folks at the banquet and the car parked outside for so long, if someone messed with it, they probably did it during the banquet.
â
Rodneyâs face darkened.
âYouâre absolutely right.
â
Turning to his assistant, he said, âGather everyone who was here yesterday-servants, cooks, security, and cleaners.
I want to question them all myself.
â
With that, Rodney stormed off back to the estate, trailed by Mitchel and the Chadwick family members, all of them visibly upset.
Holden, meanwhile, stayed by the lake, staring at the still water for what felt like forever.
Just as he turned to talk to Devin, he passed out.
Devin panicked and immediately yelled for a doctor.
Since they werenât far from the estate, they quickly got Holden back.
Soon enough, Sonia, Adrian, and the others heard what had happened.
They couldnât believe that Ariana could die in a car crash.
Sonia raced to the estate.
When she got there, she saw Melon on Catalinaâs lap, holding back tears, his face red and puffy.
The moment he saw Sonia, Melon couldnât hold back his tears anymore.
He burst into tears and called, âGodmother!â
Sonia felt her heart breaking, and she rushed over.
Melon jumped off Catalinaâs lap and ran into Soniaâs embrace.
He was afraid that his mother would not come back, his body trembling.
Sonia lifted Melon up and patted his back to comfort him.
Melon asked, âGodmother, why hasnât my mother come back? Does she not want me anymore? Did I do something wrong?â
âHow could you think that? Your mom Loves you more than anything in the world.
Sheâd never leave you.
Sheâll come back, I promise,â Sonia said, hugging Melon tightly.
Sonia kept repeating the last sentence, almost like she was trying to convince herself, too.
Melon eventually stopped crying, but his eyes stayed red and puffy.
He rested his head on Soniaâs shoulder and wiped his face with his sleeve.
Judy stood nearby, heartbroken, unable to accept the reality.
She now found it even harder to bring up the topic of the birthmark to Rodney, knowing it would devastate him further.
Catalina quietly dabbed her eyes with a tissue.
She couldnât believe how fast everything had changed.
They had just been talking about their future plans, but then, the car crash had happened.
