Although he suspected Holden had died, Bennett fabricated this to motivate Ariana to continue.

She said to Bennett, âIf youâre truly thankful, then endure this pain.

â With the wolves still some distance away, Ariana assisted Bennett to his feet and urged him forward.
After running for a while, they spotted a small, seemingly deserted cabin.
Ariana rushed towards it, shoving Bennett inside before collapsing to catch her breath.

However, Ariana stopped him by slamming the door shut and darting back into the forest.
From behind the window, Bennett watched her vanish.

After all, the area was so secluded that even a detailed map wouldnât prevent one from getting Lost.
Apparently, there was only one reason: Ariana didnât want him to die.
But why? Considering his past actions towards her and the death of the man she cherished caused by him, why didnât she desire his demise?

If they escaped successfully, Ariana would probably take revenge on him.
It seemed her kindness was the only plausible explanation.
This realization stirred something in Bennett.
Rarely had he encountered genuine kindness-neither from his relatives nor from anyone else.
He struggled to grasp the essence of kindness and the reasons behind its existence.
Yet, Ariana embodied it.
