Snapping back to her senses, Ariana began to struggle.
âLet me go!â
Yet, the man remained indifferent to her efforts, lost in his own thoughts.
Unsure of his intentions, Ariana took a moment to assess him: a tall, gaunt man in his fifties, his pale complexion and handsome features offset by a cold, distant air.
His eyes displayed a chilling indifference that could send shivers down oneâs spine with just one look.
Ignoring Arianaâs frantic efforts, the man retrieved a syringe filled with some liquid from a lab bench and injected it into her arm.
Almost instantly, Arianaâs strength began to wane, leaving her helplessly observing as he employed various devices to scan her body and extract a large sample of her blood.
Itâs over.
That was the thought that crossed Arianaâs mind; she feared she was about to become just another subject in the manâs experiments.
Considering the severed limbs and body parts scattered around, his experiments appeared to be horrifying.
She almost wished she had let the wolves catch her earlier.
Feeling completely hopeless, Ariana steeled herself for what was to come.
Meanwhile, Bennett was making his way deeper into the jungle.
He glanced at his watch, reasoning that Ariana wouldnât die so quickly, so there was no need to hurry.
He had always seen Ariana as intelligent, yet here she was, captured by that lunatic.
Bennett regretted his decisions earlier; it would have spared him the current ordeal of hastening through the mountains.
Despite knowing that something bad couldnât happen to Ariana this fast, he quickened his steps.
His own sense of urgency took him by surprise, and he came to a sudden halt.
He was definitely not concerned about Arianaâs safety!
In his mind, Bennett convinced himself that he simply didnât want to lose such an entertaining âtoyâ.
With his abilities, he could have any âtoyâ he desired, but Ariana had been uniquely amusing.
It would indeed be a pity if she were to die and he never found someone like her again.
Moreover, the jungleâs exit was located near the metal house; he had to pass it on his way out anyway.
He figured he might as well head there sooner to reclaim his âtoyâ from that weird scientist.
Bennett attempted to steady his nerves, reassuring himself of his motives.
Absorbed in his thoughts, he was abruptly jolted by the sensation of a palm strike heading his way.
