In the lounge.
Holden and Rodney had a private conversation.
Rodney discerned the troubled look on Holdenâs face and probed for answers.
Then, Holden said, âMr.
Chadwick, are you familiar with Moss Valdez?â
âMoss Valdez?â Rodneyâs expression shifted from surprise to a tinge of resentment.
âIs he still alive? I was under the impression he had passed away more than two decades ago.
â
âSo you know him?â Holden quickly followed up, eager to delve deeper.
A stern look crossed Rodneyâs face as his voice was filled with a trace of anger.
âAbsolutely.
Moss orchestrated the conspiracy that resulted in my son being murdered by his adversaries.
â
Holden fell silent, lost in thought.
It appeared that Mossâ previous assertions were indeed valid; he had connections to the Chadwick family.
âWhy are you mentioning this now?â Rodney asked, his eyes narrowing in confusion.
Holden, sidestepping the question, pressed further.
âDo you remember the specific events from back then? Iâm attempting to understand the entire narrative involving Amiri, Moss, and Emilia.
â
Bypassing the complex dynamics of their relationships, Rodney provided a clear account of the past occurrences.
Holden discovered that Moss had dispatched three assassins to eliminate Amiri.
When Emilia had become aware of that, she had hastened to alert Amiri.
Amidst the chaos, one assassin had fired a shot, and Emilia, shielding Amiri, had been fatally wounded by a bullet to the heart, dying from the substantial blood loss.
Despite Emiliaâs sacrifice, Amiri had also been killed, and the fate of their infant child had been left in uncertainty, either deceased or abducted.
By the time the Chadwick family had reached the scene, they could only find the bodies of Emilia and Amiri.
They had transported the bodies back to Eleymond, but along the way, the surveillance had been compromised, the guards had been attacked, and Emiliaâs body had mysteriously vanished.
As Rodney relayed these tragic events with evident anger, Holden was struck by a memory of seeing Emiliaâs body at the metal house.
It seemed that Moss was the one who had taken Emiliaâs body.
When Holden thought of this, Rodney also said, âI thought Moss was behind it at the time.
â
Rodney admitted with a tone of regret, âBut my grief was so overwhelming that I couldnât pursue the whereabouts of Emiliaâs bod
at the time.
By the time I felt ready to investigate, Moss had disappeared without leaving any clues, and I hadnât heard anything about him for over twenty years.
I presumed he was dead.
â
âNot only that, Moss is attempting to resurrect Emilia,â Holden said with a serious expression.
âWhat?â Rodney was taken aback and then questioned, âHow did you come to know this? Is Moss also entangled with the Fredrick family somehow?â
Holden proceeded to detail everything that had transpired at the metal house.
He described how Moss had employed advanced technology to preserve Emiliaâs body and had been kidnapping people for the past two decades to use them as experimental subjects.
His grand scheme was to infuse their fresh blood into Emiliaâs body in hopes of reviving her.
Rodney, though accustomed to hearing extraordinary tales, found this particularly startling.
âAbsurd!â he exclaimed, slamming his hand on the table.
âMoss has lost his mind.
Itâs been over twenty years; how can he still believe he can bring Emilia back to life now?â
After more than twenty years, merely hearing Mossâ name filled Rodney with an overwhelming surge of hatred and fury.
âMoss sent his goons after my son.
If not for him, I wouldnât have lost my son, ensnared in this relentless nightmare of grief,â Rodney stated.
âThis deep-seated grudge against Moss, itâs something our Chadwick family will carry forever.
â
