âNo.
â Theodoreâs response was concise.
He turned to Horace and asked, âWhat about you? See anyone?â
Horace shook his head.
âNo, me neither.
â
âWhy, what happened? Youâre shivering.
â Theodore looked at her more closely, his deep eyes unreadable.
Only then did Ariana realize that she was trembling all over.
She loosened her grip and the broom fell to the floor.
Seconds later, her knees gave way and she too fell.
She felt a warm embrace as she was covered with a coat.
She opened her eyes to see Theodore who had taken off his coat and dr@ped it on her.
âThank youâ Ariana forced a smile, acknowledging his kindness.
After all, she was in quite a bad state.
For a moment, Theodore silently studied her face.
Then, he asked, âWho are you looking for? What did he do to you?â
âCome with me,â came her response.
Ariana got to her feet and led them to the ladiesâ room.
Jett was still splayed out on the floor, unconscious.
Still scared, she stayed as far away from him as possible as she explained what had happened.
Theodore looked at Jettâs injuries.
With a raised eyebrow, he asked, âYou did this? Looks like a couple of his ribs are broken.

âNo, it wasnât me.
Someone came to my rescueâ¦â Ariana stammered.
It was hard to get her mind straight.
âWho was it?â Theodore asked.
.
Ariana shook her head and avoided his gaze.
âI donât know.
I didnât see his face.
â
She felt a little guilty when she thought of that man holding her and touching her.
She lowered her head and missed the mischievous gleam that had appeared in Theodoreâs eyes!
âYour safety is the most important thing.
Youâre still part of the Anderson family.
I will make him pay for what heâs done to you, Theodore said.
His tone was light.
Ariana recalled what Jett had said.
He was from a family with power and influence in the city.
He wasnât afraid of the Andersons.
She didnât want to cause any more trouble for Theodore.
Then there was the sound of multiple footsteps thundering down the corridor.
Kenny Porter, the buildingâs owner, rushed in, followed by over a dozen bodyguards.
He began profusely apologizing to Ariana.
âIâm so sorry, Ms.
Edwards.
We should never have allowed this to happen.
Iâve called the police and they will handle this.
I am so sorry.
