Chapter 21 Begging Meredith for Mercy
âMs. Miller, what are you doing? Get up, please!â Myra exclaimed, rushing to help Sonya up.
Meredithâs cold gaze lightly swept past Sonya. When Sonya saw Meredith looking over, she thought Meredith was moved by her sincerity.
She pushed Myra away and looked at Meredith. âMeredith, youâre as kind as you are beautiful. I was. ignorant, but Iâll turn over a new leaf in the future. Youâll forgive me, right?â She was very confident that Meredith would forgive her.
Sonya was Meredithâs homeroom teacher, and they would see each other frequently in the future. She was also kneeling and apologizing so sincerely to Meredith. Most people would be moved by such sincerity.
Therefore, Sonya thought Meredith had no reason not to give her a way out! But Sonya didnât know that Meredith wasnât an ordinary girl.
Meredithâs gaze coldly swept past the person kneeling before her. Her thin lips moved as she turned and looked at Mr. Langley with her exquisite eyes. âMr. Langley, you said yesterday that the apology would be made during the assembly, right?â
âUm⦠yes.â Mr. Langley nodded.
Sonya was dumbstruck. Her expression immediately stiffened, and she stared blankly at Meredith. This girl isa monster!
Sonya had spoken recklessly yesterday in a moment of anger. She wished she could travel back in time and stop herself. If she really had to kneel and apologize to Meredith before the other teachers and students during the assembly, she would be too embarrassed to continue teaching at Quantum in the futurel
She thought that as long as she put on an act and apologized to Meredith, Meredith would forgive her. It was better than looking for Professor Stormborn, whom she barely had the chance to meet each year. This wasnât what she had expected.
Sonya slumped to the ground in despair.
âKnock, knock. At this moment, someone knocked on the door. A woman with short, neat hair stood at the
entrance.
âMs. Hanke, you came at the right time. From now on, youâll be the homeroom teacher for the junior Class One. This is the new transfer student, Meredith Reign. You can lead her to the classroom,â Mr. Langley said.
At Quantum, the homeroom teachers of Class One had a higher rank than the other teachers. This was a promotion for Corina Hanke, but she wasnât excited because of that. However, she was delighted to see Meredith.
âYouâre Meredith Reign, arenât you? The academic genius of your generation! I finally get to meet you! I was the one who graded your entrance exam, and your problemâsolving skills are amazing. Come, I have some challenging math problems in my office. We can discuss them together when you have time⦠As she spoke, she led Meredith to the classroom.
Chapter 21 Begging Meredith for Mercy
âThank you for giving Meredith this opportunity, Mr. Langley.â Tom shook Mr. Langleyâs hand ecstatically.
âMeredith has set a new Guinness record for Quantum, and such good news should be celebrated properly. Iâll hold a banquet tomorrow and invite all the teachers and students!â Not only did Tom want to organize a grand feast, but he also wanted to invite the media to announce nationwide that the Kane family had produced a prodigy. He wanted to flaunt his wellâeducated, aristocratic family.
âThereâs no need to invite all the teachers and students to a banquet. Itâs too extravagant. This isnât how Quantum does things.â Mr. Langley waved his hand, his heart filled with disdain. No matter how hard the Kane family triesto squeeze into the aristocratic social circle and hide their true nature, they couldnât change their nouveau riche behavior.
âAlso, I would like to trouble you to investigate who spread the rumor that Meredith skipped the exam, Langley. This is an insult to my family!â Tom continued.
Mr.
When Myra heard that Tom wanted to hold a grand feast for Meredith, she panicked. She was thinking about how to dissuade Tom from this idea when she heard that he wanted to investigate who had started. the rumor, and her face instantly paled.
âWe will do that, but itâs more important to publicly announce Ms. Reignâs grades now!â Mr. Langley immediately got to work and instructed the results to be posted on the school bulletin board.
In just one class period, all the high school classes in Quantum Academy discovered that Meredith was the mysterious academic genius everyone had discussed the previous night.
Sonya was reprimanded for harassing a transfer student and was given a warning for her poor teaching ethics. This also became a hot topic of discussion among the students.
Myra wanted to secretly delete her post before Mr. Langley could investigate. Still, those who had criticized Meredith yesterday came out individually to apologize. They even replied to Myraâs post and cursed her for maliciously fabricating rumors. Myra could only grit her teeth in anger when she read it.
The news of Meredithâs perfect score quickly reached the Kane family.
That night, Beulah joyfully brought Meredith to meet Old Mrs. Kane when she returned to Kane Residence.
âMom, Merry scored full marks in four papers. Shouldnât we give her a proper room now? Beulahâs voice was filled with evident excitement.
She had been worried for Meredith yesterday because she hadnât expected Meredith to be so outstanding and score full marks in all four subjects! This was something that even Myra couldnât achieve, no matter how many tutors she had.
Mom wonât make things difficult for Merry anymore, right?
