Chapter 30: The Two Sides Of A Coin

My twin sister stood there, nothing but shock covered her face. There she stood behind the problem china and the clattered tray across the floor. It had been over eight years since I had laid eyes on her and once upon a time I would look at her and sometimes think that I was looking in the mirror. It was like seeing a duplicate of myself, it was like looking  at a better version of me.

As I looked at her now, she looked different, she looked worn out. Her skin that was once bright and clear was now riddled with dirt and small scars across her face. Her body was no longer fit and slender but she looked weak and brittle. The once confident stance she took was now timid with her shoulder's slumped. Her light blue eyes which she inherited from mother were dark and deeper shade of blue. They were hidden behind large dark circles and small crows stretched out of the corner of her eyes. When I look at her, I no longer see the perfect daughter, the strong sister who's eyes held mischief behind them. She looked older than her usual age. I couldn't deny that the years hadn't been good to her.

"You found her?" She looked to my parents and Jacob. A triage of emotions ran across her face as she begged for answers.

"That's none of your business Omega." Jacob spat. When I looked at my parents I could see the coldness in her gaze as they looked at their daughter. They gave her the same look, they gave me when I was a teenager. My mother could barely look at her while she was in the room.

"That's enough Jacob." I replied. My sister's eyes widened at what I said. I gathered from her reaction that no one had stood up for her since her lies were revealed. Let alone from the person that she had hurt the most.

"Lousi-Loretta, you know what this disgusting bitch did to us! What she did to our pack! She doesn't deserve your pity." Jacob growled.

My eyes snapped to him after seeing Leanne's shoulder's sag at his words. "Listen here Alpha, it is not our pack, it is your pack! Secondly, that disgusting bitch you described was the woman you choose to mate and the mother of your dead child. So show some bloody respect!" I shouted.

My parents and Leanne looked at me like I had grown a third head. Don't get me wrong, I hated my sister she had caused me enough pain to last me a lifetime but she didn't deserve to be treated that way. They chose to keep her in the pack - whether she was a Luna or an Omega there was no reason for them to bully her. I knew how callous and cold my parents could be. As much as  I hated her, she was still my sister. All I could do was hope that the years that allowed her to change for the better.

"Leave us. Me and my sister need to speak alone." I ordered.

My parents and Jacob looked at each other, all them looked reluctant to leave us on our own, I could smell the anger roll off of Jacob's body. I gave him a stern look to ensure that he knew not to mess with me. Both my parents stood up, my father struggling to walk. Both ignored Leanne, who was looking at them with tears in her eyes. It was like she didn't exist. Whereas Jacob walked up to her and stared at her in disgust. I could sense he was mind linking her because she eagerly nodded at him before he stormed out the front door.

My sister didn't speak, she was still stood firmly in her spot. All I could do was look at her, no longer was she dressed in the finest designs but she was now wearing some cut up jeans and an oversized white shirt with some dirt on it. Her hair didn't look luscious or thick but rather greasy and thin. I shook my end and gestured to the sofa which our parents had vacated and told her to sit.

She took a deep inhale of breath and made her way to sit opposite me. I could see her eyes light up when we were teenagers and I could see the clogs clicking away in her mind as she looked me up and down. I knew it was a risk being on my own with my sister but she would never be honest if our parents or Jacob was present. The aromas she was permeating was a mixture of disgust, fear, jealously, disappointment and there was even a hint of regret.

As I thought about the emotions she was clearly experiencing, I didn't believe that it was anything positive. Some would think that she was disgusted in herself, jealous of the life she could have had and disappointed that she had caused so much pain to her sister and family. Someone would have thought maybe she regretted her actions and decisions.

Fortunately I wasn't stupid nor naive. I knew my sister's innate nature, she was disgusted and disappointed in herself, she couldn't believe she had revealed her secrets, she couldn't comprehend that she got caught using my identity. She was jealous of the woman who sat opposite her because I was living the life she wanted. I was doing okay without a mate. I knew she recognised my alter go Loretta and she hated that I had sourced power on my own. My sister was truly an evil being and she was the other side to the coin.

"So should I call you Louise or Loretta now?" Leanne sneered.

I chuckled, her little meek act shred as soon as our family left the room. I knew my sister only cared about showing remorse, hoping she could worm her way into their lives again. "I'm known as Loretta sister." I calmly replied.

"Loretta Romano." She said, the words were twirling in her mouth like it was some kind of poison, I could see the disgust and contempt she felt towards me. She had never expected me to survive the world without a pack or mate. She didn't understand how I became the most powerful woman in one of the biggest and well sought out cities.

"Indeed little sister, indeed." I said as I sat back in the sofa. "So how is life like as an Omega?" I hummed as the tips of my mouth curved in a small smile.

"An Omega? Can you believe it?" She spat out in disgust. All I could do was chuckle, she was still the same self-conceited bitch she was eight years ago. Honestly, I don't understand how she was able to keep up this facade for years.

"Ahh I see the years haven't been good to you, I thought you may have grown up but you still are the same self-absorbed bitch that you were when we were teenagers. God I bet your ego can't handle looking at you in disgust and shame. The fall of the Golden child... Oh I wish I had seen it." I teased.

"This is all your fault! Why are you back? No one wants you here?" She screamed as she clenched her fists.

I tutted as I shook my head at my sister. "Seems no one tells you anything anymore, I mean Jacob clearly wants me here, our parents are begging for me to stay. From the reception from the pack, I'm sure that they are dying for the return of their true Luna." I smirked.

She let out a large growl. "This is all your fault, you stole my mate! You stole my position! I had the perfect life, why couldn't you have just died in child birth! How is it that I ruined your life and you still are better than me!" Her eyes were crazed, her breaths were laboured. I could see that she was loosing control, her sanity was on the brink.

"Leanne" I sighed. "Sit down for crying out loud!" I commanded. I could see her hesitation to follow my order but after a few seconds she fell back into her chair.

"Leanne, you have got to stop blaming me for your mistakes. You framed me and destroyed my life here at Redbridge. I left and you had a chance to be happy. You had a chance to be happy with my mate and your son." I sighed, a small tear escaped my eye. "How can you continue to blame me for something when I wasn't even here. Your fucking twenty-six years old Leanne, you need to grow up! Look at where your shitty decisions have got you!" I exasperated.

"Your chosen mate doesn't want you. Your real mate rejected you. Your son was murdered because of your actions! You could have had a happy life, but you were never happy with what you had! I spent years taking the brunt of punishments for your actions and you are still blaming me. I just don't understand where you went wrong. Your fucking crazy Leanne." I shouted.

Leanne's eyes caught me, they were filled with rage and desperation. At this point it was futile, nothing I said would make a difference, she would only continue to blame me for where she ended up in her life.

"Why are you still here Leanne?" I sighed. "Why haven't you fought for your mate?" I questioned.

"He doesn't want me." She spat. "When I had Jacob's child, he was furious. At first he accepted me and my unborn son." She said as she started biting her nails with a guilty look on her face. "But then when he saw that Jacob marked me he was furious. He became enraged. He wanted to kill me, kill Jacob and the whole pack. He said I had betrayed him." Her eyes were welled with tears.

"But you did betray him Leanne, he was your mate for crying out loud!" I exclaimed.

"HE WAS A ROUGE! HE OFFERED ME NOTHING." She shouted.

"Jacob would have let him into the pack, you could have lived a happy life. Fuck, you could have even co-parented your son together." I explained.

"What and live a life as a normal wolf? Jacob would have never let my mate become a Beta." She spat.

"Power isn't everything Leanne." I tried to explain, hoping she would listen to reason.

"Says the woman who has an empire at her fingertips. I overheard my parents speaking about you when Jacob informed them that they found you." Leanne closed her eyes. "You have everything at your fingers, money, power, businesses. I bet men crawled beneath your feet. You had the life that I deserved." She angrily replied.

"Leanne, you did not deserve my life. I worked hard for my life, everything I did I earned on my own. The woman I became was because of the family and pack that had betrayed me. We both made decisions that led us down different paths. As much as I hate you for what you did, I wouldn't be where I was without you." I finished.

"You lie!!!" She crazily screamed. She started pacing up and down the room. Her feet thumping against the wooden floor. "I deserved to be Luna. I deserved to be powerful. I deserved to have people worshiping me! NOT YOU!!!" She shouted erratically, pointing her finger. I could see the shake in her palm as it wavered in the air.

"Leanne you need to calm down." I soothingly replied. I quietly stood up preparing myself for the inevitable attack that would come.

"No I will not! I shouldn't be here unless I am Luna! I'm trapped because of Jacob and our parents! They won't let me leave! They keep me here and refuse to let me return to my mate! I have two mates that don't want me!" She started to ramble.

It's then that she halted in her steps and turned to face me. There was an evil glint to her eyes as a smirk formed on her lips. Before I could blink, she leaped into the air. She crashed into my direction. Her arms stretched and sought my neck. Her nails digging into my skin. My throat was constricted, I could feel the air stuck in my throat. She tightened her hold and refused to let go.

"Leann...stop.. this..." I stuttered out. My eyes were becoming droopy, my vision was becoming blurry. My body was stuck under the monster I called sister.

"You will die. I will have my life back. I will be free. I will take everything from you again. I will not fail." She muttered. Her eyes were cold and empty, she truly didn't care if I lived or died.

As my eyes began to flutter, I felt a weight lift off my chest, the cold fingers that her latched around my throat were no longer there. I felt myself gasp for air as I tried to focus on the image in from of me but all I could see was a blurb of colours moving in different directions.

Just as I closed my eyes I swear I could hear Jacob scream my name. For the first time in eights years, his voice didn't sound like a nightmare but it was a soft, sweet dream. One that I wanted to repeat for the rest of my life.
