Not all the time will I remain silent. Not all the time will I just trust Pond to handle everything. There are people who need to be put in their place, or better yet, slapped with the harsh reality that Pond is mine and mine alone.
Sometimes, or rather, often, there are people who let their stupidity and ignorance take over. Some even pretend not to see things just to impose their own desires. But then there are people like Aimee, who have the audacity to act as if there are no boundaries. And now, after everything she's done, staying silent and doing nothing is no longer an option.
As we walked through the company, everyone we passed greeted us, but neither Pond nor I replied. We made our way straight to the 7th floor, where the finance department was located. Sam had informed us that Aimee and Mr. Pakphum were in a meeting room there, waiting for Dad after Aimee's termination.
I opened the meeting room door wide, and it caught the two people inside by surprise. Aimee's gaze immediately locked onto mine. As I expected, she was shocked to see me. Her face turned pale, as if she had seen a ghost.
But she quickly composed herself when Pond walked inside.
"Pond." Aimee said, her expression shifting immediately as she tried to mask her shock. She stood up and began to walk toward him, but before she could get any closer, I stepped into her path and slapped her hard across the face.
Men are generally not supposed to hurt women, but as with every rule, there are exceptions. And for me, Aimee was the exception. Why? Because she deserved it.
"What do you think you're doing, Phuwin?" Aimee spat out angrily.
"Phuwin, that's clearly assault! I'll sue you for this!" Mr. Pakphum added, his voice rising.
"Really?" I said with a smirk. "It's fine. You can sue me all you want, because I'll be doing the same thing."
"Under what grounds?" Mr. Pakphum sneered, clearly mocking me.
"Attempted murder of Aimee and estafa against you, Mr. Pakphum," Pond responded confidently.
"Murder? Me? Who exactly have I killed?" Mr. Pakphum shot back in disbelief.
I turned to Aimee with a smirk. "Oh, playing innocent now, Aimee? Are you really sure about that?"
"Who did I kill? You? Well, you're standing right here in front of me." Aimee retorted, trying to maintain her composure.
"Exactly, Aimee. I'm standing right in front of you, slapping you hard just to make sure you're awake. Wasn't it your plan to kill me by sabotaging the car that was supposed to be gifted to me by dad? But, unfortunately for you, it didn't work out. Instead of me, it was our friend Dunk who ended up in the accident and is now lying unconscious on the operating table."
"You're making things up, Phuwin. That's libel. And the estafa charge too. You need clear, undeniable evidence to back up your claims."
"Proof? Fine. I'll show you a little bit of proof of Aimee sabotaging the car. I just hope you'll still be able to walk out of this building with your head held high."
"Why not? I'm sure whatever evidence you have is fake."
"Why do you look so pale? Are you scared?"
"Of course not. Why should I be?"
"We'll see." I smirked at her and then glanced at Pond.
"Before we forget, this video is going to play all over the company. And when I say 'all over,' I mean everywhere," Pond said, pressing the play button on the small remote he was holding.
The CCTV footage began playing on the screen, clearly showing Aimee's face. The video also captured her sabotaging the car's brakes before leaving, acting as if nothing had happened.
"That's not me!" Aimee screamed. "The video is blurry! It's edited to frame me!"
"And who would do that?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Of course, it's you, Phuwin."
"Why should I?"
"Because you are jealous of Dunk."
I couldn't help but laugh at what Aimee said. Looks like someone's information is outdated.
"Again, why should I?" I asked, still shaking my head from my laughter.
"Because Dunk is Pond's ex, and he's still his best friend."
"And?"
"You're... just jealous."
I sighed deeply and shook my head again. Why am I even dealing with this woman? Why does she even exist?
"I'm not going to explain anything to you. We'll just meet in court," I said, turning my back on her.
"Are you sure, Phuwin? I doubt you'll be able to put me in jail with that blurry video."
I stopped walking, turned around, and flashed a sarcastic smile. "You know technology, Aimee, right? If so, then so be it."
Aimee chuckled. "Fine, let's meet in court. Maybe it's time for you to join your mother in prison."
My smile faded. I knew that everyone in the company was aware of my background. Once they figured out who Pond's lover was, they also dug into my past. But honestly, it didn't bother me at all.
Why?
Because only a few people knew the truth. The rest only had crumbs, not the full story.
Those few people were enough for me. They accepted me for who I am, and that's all that mattered. As for the others, I had no obligation to explain myself. They could think whatever they wanted; I didn't care.
I looked at Aimee with a smile. "It's okay to be the son of a criminal, rather than becoming a criminal yourself."
"Let's see, Phuwin."
"Okay. Oh, before I forget," I said, "I want to let you know that it doesn't matter if you're a woman. It doesn't matter if you can give Pond and his family a dozen children. Even if your womb is healthy, it doesn't matter. Because Pond is mine, and he will always be mine. He will never be yours even in your dream."
"Your confidence is overwhelming, Phuwin. I can't wait to see your face when you find out that I'm with Pond, sooner or later."
"Have you ever wondered why people always say, 'I can't imagine being with you' when they're talking about someone?"
"Because they can't see or imagine themselves with that person."
"Bingo! So don't be surprised that I can't imagine my disappointment in you, because it will never happen. But I can imagine you behind bars, sleeping in jail, and being with my mom."
"You can't bring us down, because no one can," Mr. Pakphum chimed in. It seemed like it took him a while to compose himself. I think he overestimated his plan.
"Oh, really?" Pond responded confidently. "Let's see, Mr. Pakphum."
"Are you willing to risk it, Pond?" Mr. Pakphum asked.
"Yes, I am. I have all the solid evidence against you and your niece. So, enjoy your time in jail tonight."
Pond grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the room.
"What did you mean by your last words, love?" I asked Pond as soon as we were in the elevator.
"I meant exactly what I said."
"How?"
"Money can work miracles, baby."
"You mean...?"
"I made money do wonders. Their arrest warrants are already on the way. Maybe, by the time we leave the building, we'll witness how the two of them are dragged out in a police car, handcuffed."
I was shocked, but at the same time, happy. Putting them in jail was the only thing we could do for Dunk.
As Pond had said, the moment we stepped out of the elevator, we were greeted by the police. They were asking about Aimee and Mr. Pakphum and showed us their arrest warrants.
Of course, we told them where to find them. Pond even asked the security team to accompany the police to the finance department meeting room.
A few minutes later, we saw Aimee and Mr. Pakphum being dragged by the police. When Aimee saw us, I smiled at her and waved goodbye.
Once the police had left, Pond and I decided to leave the company and head back to the hospital. Just before we could leave, we received a message from Joong that the operation was successful, and Dunk had been transferred to the ICU.
