âChange your clothes, Jason!â Kimberly ran in with the newly bought clothes and grabbed Jason. âYour body canât take it if you keep being like this. Take a shower and change your clothes first. Iâll leave Snowball for you to handle while I go to the hospital with Alastor.â
Anastasia was pushed into the emergency room by a doctor at the Hork General Hospital. Her vision was blurred as she looked at the light above her head.
âAre you her husband? Please sign here. This child canât be saved. Otherwise, the patient will bleed heavily. If she is in critical condition, we may need to remove her uterus.â
A nurse asked Alastor to sign a consent form outside the emergency room.
Alastorâs face turned pale, and there was a tremor in his voice. âPlease save⦠the mother.â
âNo! My grandson canât be aborted. You must save the baby! You have to save him!â Naomi followed from behind and rushed to stop Alastor anxiously.
âYou canât sign this. The baby must be saved!â cried Naomi madly as she tried to snatch the pen from Alastorâs hand.
From Naomiâs point of view, Anastasiaâs life wasnât important at all. She already had such thoughts when the baby was still in the early stages of pregnancy and hadnât taken shape yet. If anything, she would have insisted on ensuring that the doctors saved the baby regardless of whether or not Anastasia survived.
The nurse urged Alastor, âPlease decide as soon as possible. The patient is still waiting for surgery.â
Alastorâs hand, which was holding the pen, did not move for a long time.
He had also chosen to put his faith in luck before the childâs paternity test results came out. He wondered if he could use the child to keep Anastasia by his side if the child was indeed his.
But would it mean the complete end of his relationship with Anastasia if this child was gone?
Alastor hesitated when he thought of Anastasiaâs determined look when she asked for a divorce.
âCanât this child be saved?â asked Alastor in a low voice.
The nurse looked at Alastor in surprise. âThe patient is physically poor and in an unstable condition.
Saving the baby will incur a great risk, and the severe bleeding can be life-threatening.â
âWe donât care. We must keep the baby!â shouted Naomi like a shrewish woman.
In the emergency room, Anastasia leaned against the operating table with emptiness and despair in her eyes.
âMs. Lawsonâ¦â The doctor found himself in a difficult position.
âJust do as I say,â said Anastasia in a hoarse voice.
She had given up all her hope for Alastor.
Alastor was going to insist on saving the child just because it was his, regardless of whether Anastasia lived or died.
âBut your body canât bear it at all if you choose to keep the baby.â The doctor sighed. If she continued this way, the pregnancy was going to weaken her so badly that there was going to be nothing left of her.
He feared Anastasia was not going to make it till the postpartum treatment plan after giving birth.
âIt doesnât matter.â Anastasia wiped away the tears from her reddened eyes. She then asked in a low voice, âMr. Quinn has contacted you, hasnât he?â
The doctor nodded. âBut if an accident happens, we will not be responsible for it. You need to sign a disclaimer personally.â Anastasia nodded and signed an agreement.
She wanted to keep the baby, not because it was Alastorâs, but because it was her own.
However, she didnât want to have anything to do with Alastor anymore.
The doctor came out from the emergency room.
âThe patient has personally signed the abortion agreement. We shall follow her will.â The doctor paused before he continued in a deep voice, âPlease maintain silence inside the hospital.â
âWhat?â Naomiâs face darkened when she heard that Anastasia was about to have an abortion. She rushed forward, wanting to stop the doctor. âShe has no right to terminate the pregnancy! Who does she think she is? I disagree with her aborting a child of the Lopez family!â raged Naomi.
âEnough! Havenât you said enough already? Would Anastasia have been so agitated that it affected her pregnancy if you hadnât sent someone to get rid of Snowball?â snapped Alastor in a hoarse voice.
âTo think that Anastasia has given up on this pregnancy so willingly⦠I guess our relationship is over for good,â thought Alastor.
âAlastor, why are you so stupid? She is plotting against you. Canât you tell that she is intentionally terminating the pregnancy? Sheâs doing this on purpose to take revenge on us!â Naomi sat on the ground crying.
Alastor stood quietly aside and didnât say anything.
When Anastasia was transferred out of the operating room, her face and lips were a deathly white.
She lay there numbly and didnât say anything.
âYou malicious woman! You aborted the Lopez familyâs child for such a beast.â Naomi was still crying on the ground.
Felicia was still persuading Naomi gently. âMrs. Lopez, donât be angry. Itâs not worth it to get angry at a malicious person who would use her child to get back at someone. Besides, Iâm still carrying a descendant of the Lopez family in me.â
Anastasia lay on the bed. She could feel the scalding tears roll down as she closed her eyes numbly.
She clenched her fists tightly, although she knew that Felicia was aggravating her on purpose.
How could she not be angry?
She had lost her child, while the baby in Felicia was the only child of the Lopez family.
âAre you all satisfied?â Anastasia opened her eyes and asked in a hoarse voice. âNow that this has been done, you to worry about the will anymore, Alastor.â
Alastor opened his mouth but didnât say anything. He remained silent for a long time.
âYou vicious woman, how can you do that?â Naomi got up crying, wanting to argue with Anastasia.
âShe might be dead if she didnât terminate the pregnancy!â Kimberly stood beside Anastasia and stopped Naomi.
âPiss off, you vicious woman! No parent will hurt their own child!â
