In Hork General Hospital, Anastasia ran into the ward and looked at Amanda nervously. âHow is he?â
âHis condition just stabilized, but he may be paralyzed in bed in the future. Heâll need to rely on a wheelchair to move around.â Amanda sighed.
Anastasia breathed a sigh of relief and smiled ironically. âThis is retribution.â
She wanted him to live.
He couldnât die.
He didnât deserve to die.
âAnnie, did your fatherâ¦mistreat you before?â Amanda asked in a low voice. âWhere is your mother?â
Anastasia sat on the bench and smiled. âMy mom is already dead. Cancer.â
âIâm sorryâ¦â Amanda sighed.
âHe didnât raise me for a day but ruined my life.â Anastasia looked at Zeke, who was lying on the hospital bed helplessly⦠âThis is especially after he found Meredith. I havenât had a good day since then.â
Amanda sighed. âIt would be good if your mother were still alive. Mothers canât bear to let their daughters suffer.â
Anastasiaâs eyes turned red. âYeah. When my mom left, she wanted to take me with her.â
Amanda looked at Anastasia in shock.
âShe often complained that she was trapped in life because of me. If it werenât for me, she would have divorced Zeke long ago. However, it was because of me that she didnât. She said I was a burden and a dead weight for her, telling me it would be great if I hadnât been born. However, she also said she was worried about me before her death, wanting to take me with her. Do you think she loves me?â
Anastasia looked at Amanda and asked in a choked voice.
It seemed that Anastasia wanted to seek comfort.
Amanda looked at Anastasia in shock. âNo mother wouldnât love their daughter. Perhapsâ¦.the reality drove her crazy. Just like me. I would have retired at retirement if I had a harmonious family and children who loved me. I wouldnât have to work so hard as a caretaker,â Amanda answered after a long time.
This was life. Different people would lead a different life. Nobody would have the same life as others.
Everyone had their own helplessness and pain.
âIf I can return to my motherâs stomach, I hope sheâll abort to stop me from being born. Since she gave birth to me, why canât she love meâ¦â Anastasia smiled ironically. âThey made me feel that my existence is wrong and that Iâm a sinner by living.â
âAnnie, you canât think like that. There are still many beautiful things in this world that deserve your attention. No one can accompany you for the rest of your life. Your husband may divorce you, and your children will start a family or business. You are the only one who can accompany you through life,â
Amanda whispered.
Anastasia nodded. âYouâre right.â
The world was like this. One would come to the world quickly and leave the same way.
âWe only live for a few decades. You donât need to be so troubled if you live more selfishly. Thereâs no need to care so much. You can be with whoever makes you happy and comfortable. Donât be afraid of divorce. Iâm also divorced, yet Iâm living well right now,â Amanda comforted Anastasia with a smile.
Anastasia was silent for a long time.
âIs that really the case? Will it be okay as long as Iâm happy?â she wondered.
âAh! Armie⦠Annieâ¦â
In the ward, Zeke woke up. Zeke could make sounds and call names now.
Anastasia stood by the bed and helped him wash his hands. âYou have to live on.â
Zeke struggled to call her name, but Anastasia didnât want to talk to him anymore.
âAnnie⦠Annieâ¦â
Seeing Anastasia leaving, Zeke was still sobbing. The scene seemed rather sad.
Anastasia stopped and looked back at Zeke. âThank you for giving me life and letting me experience such worst things.â Anastasia bowed deeply to Zeke. âItâs not bad being human. However, Iâd rather not live as one in my next life.â
