âI wonât leave.â
Jason didnât leave, standing outside the house.
The weather was cold, with a mix of rain and snow falling. He stood outside waiting for Anastasia to open the door.
Anastasia stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, looking at Jason standing outside the yard. She raised her hand and put it on the glass, gritting her teeth tightly.
âWhy did he suddenly appear again?â
She fell into deep thought.
The sky was cloudy and frightening, and the sound of firecrackers continued to echo in bursts.
Anastasia looked at the fireworks exploding in the dim sky, and her eyes stagnated.
Anastasia mused. Think about it carefully. The four years of marrying Alastor and every Christmas seemed to be a business-oriented life.
We would go to the Lopez residence on Christmas Day and have a family dinner together.
There was nothing romantic or sense of ceremony Anastasia laughed ironically and threw the bowl of pesto pasta on the table into the trash bin.
She felt disgusted.
A bright light flashed across the sky, and the fireworks exploded.
Anastasia looked out subconsciously. The fireworks were being set off right outside her yard.
It was Jason.
Anastasia hurried to the window and looked up at the fireworks exploding overhead.
âSo beautiful!TM âAnastasia, do you know why the fireworks are beautiful? Because they disappeared quickly, leaving only a moment of colorfulnessâ Six years ago, before Jace disappeared, he left an oil painting for Anastasia.
It was the fireworks.
âItâs snowing.â Anastasiaâs voice was hoarse as she opened the door for Jason.
Jason didnât enter the yard. He put a lit sparkler in Anastasiaâs hand and then wrapped his scarf around her neck.
âYouâre crazy⦠Anastasia said, her voice choking âAnastasia, Iâve been there all the time and never disappeared.â Jason wanted to tell her that he had never disappeared. âJason, you said that the fireworks are beautiful because they disappeared quickly, leaving only a moment of colorfulness.â Anastasia said sarcastically. âSince youâve disappeared, then you should never come back.â
Looking at Anastasia, Jason felt pain in his heart..
âSheâs too skinnyâ
âGo take a hot shower. Donât catch a cold.â Anastasia motioned Jason to come in, providing him with a new bath towel. She wanted to find Alastorâs clothes for him to change into, but she realized that Alastor had already taken all his things away.
âIt turns out that this house was already emptyâ
âCan I stay overnight?â Jason asked Anastasia.
âThis isnât my home⦠Anastasia said in a hoarse voice.
âCan you come home with me then?â Jason looked at her with an intense gaze. âAnastasia⦠I can give you a home now.â Anastasia looked at Jason and shook her head. âJason, itâs too late.â
In the past, she foolishly thought that home was something others provided.
So when Alastor said he would give her a home, her heart fluttered intensely.
But now, Anastasiaâs heart seemed to have been broken There was nothing left to be moved by because she knew her final resting place would be that little cremation பர.
Jason held the bath towel tightly and his eyes turned red. âAnastasia, give me another chance.â
âAre you stupid?â Anastasia looked up at Jason.
âIs your phone not connected to the Internet? Youâre part of this circle too. Everyone is avoiding me now, even Mr. Lexington has been implicated. And yet, youâre coming to me?â
âI wonât. I will never abandon youâ Jason looked at Anastasia firmly.
Even if the whole world abandoned her, Jason would always be Anastasiaâs Jate.
âYouâre crazyâ¦â Anastasia laughed sarcastically. She lost control and threw the paints next to the easel onto the ground.
âAnastasia⦠donât be like this.â Jason felt so distressed that he hugged her tightly from behind.
He had a fever and his body was burning up. But Anastasia, on the other hand, felt ice-cold, and it frightened him.
âAnastasia, Iâm sorryâ¦â He was wrong-
âI shouldnât have been so impulsive back then. I was truly wrong. I shouldnât have left you alone, Anastasiaâ
âGo take a hot shower and then leave,â Anastasia said in a distant yet calm voice.
Jason lowered his head and slowly released Anastasia âI wonât give up.
When Jason entered the bathroom, Anastasia threw his wet clothes into the washing machine and initiated the drying process.
Anastasia curled up on the couch and looked at her hands covered in paint, feeling lost.
âAfter I die, no one will remember me. Alastor will soon forget me and even be glad that Iâm finally gone.â
âAnastasia, I ordered Christmas Eve dinner.â Jason, wrapped in a bath towel, stood at the bathroom door. âCould you help me get it, please?â
Anastasia was stunned for a moment. âYouâd betterâ¦â
âLetâs have the Christmas Eve dinner together. Jason interrupted Anastasia.
Anastasia was silent for a moment and nodded. âOkay.â
Hearing the knock on the door, Anastasia opened the living room door but froze in place.
The person standing outside the door wasnât a deliveryman. It was Steven, Felicia and Alastorâs mother.
Seeing them standing outside the door with grim expressions, Anastasia frowned. âWhatâs the matter?â
âYou are so shameless Where is that man?â Steven questioned.
Anastasia wanted to close the door and didnât want to dwell on the matter.
âWhy waste words on her?â Naomi pushed the door open and shoved Anastasia out of the way. She barged in, ready to confrom the adulterer.
Anastasia fell to the ground and her vision went black.
Jason walked out of the bathroom with wet hair. His face darkened.
âThere he is!â Felicia pointed at Jason and shouted. âItâs him. Anastasiaâs baby is his, not Alastorâs.â
