Chapter 10 – Escape

Since I was locked in the back of the police car like some bad animal and couldn’t possibly escape, all I could do was torment myself with my thoughts. I could picture the triumph look on Steven’s face when he saw me again, he would be beside himself with joy, after which he would proabably kill me I thought bitterly.

“Sean you there…..pick up Sean.” The voice came from the phone next to the police officer escorting me to prison.

“Yeah I’m here….what’s wrong.” The cop driving me asked after he picked up the phone.

“There’s been a change of plans, Mr. Cruz wants you to take the girl to the hospital where the boy is being taken, he wants both of them together at the same place.”

My heart bet quickened, what was Steven up to now, I needed to do something! I couldn’t just sit here idly and let Steven get his filthy hands on my poor defenseless Rogue; I had to come up with an escape plan.

“Did he say why?” The police officer asked.

“No he just said to bring the girl to the hospital.”

“Ok fine.” The officer said and hanged up. “Looks like we are going to the hospital to see your murderous boyfriend.” The officer spat at me.

I crossed my fingers desperately hoping that once we reached the hospital, I could escape with rogue, but he was hurt badly the last time I saw him and maybe if I tried to move him I might kill him. Damn it, how the hell did I get myself into this mess and most importantly how was I going to get myself out of it?

Fifteen minutes later we came to a halt in front of a small clinic, and I was escorted by the officer out of the car towards a secluded building. I was then led into a room, which had only a chair and a table. I couldn’t help but shiver, I felt like I was in a torture room about to be slaughtered, so this was the place Steven was going to kill me slowly, I thought bitterly.

“Mr. Cruz will arrive shortly.” The officer announced told me after he had handcuffed me to the table. After he walked out I placed my head on the table. If only I could call my dad he would have saved me from this grave I had dug for myself, But I doubt Steven would let me make a phone call.

“Do you know the kind of trouble you’re in?” Steven’s voice boomed in the room unexpectedly.

The mere sound of his voice made me stop breathing, oh god, oh god, please save me from him, I’ll do anything but please don’t let him kill me. I prayed as I heard his footsteps coming closer to the table I was handcuffed to.

“I’m talking to you Reese.” Steven hissed into my ear and grabbed a handful of my hair which he pulled painfully.

“Aaaarrrggghhh.” I screamed. “Please let me go.” I pleaded.

He laughed a cruel laugh, “Now why would I do that.”

“Because if you don’t I’ll break your neck, just like I did to the rest of your men.” Rogue’s cold voice rang in the room.

Like slow motion, we both turned around, I was so shocked to see him standing there when a few moments ago he had been bleeding to death.

“Rogue.” I cried looking at him; he was standing there straight as if he hadn’t been shot an hour ago.

“It’s ok Reese, he won’t hurt you.” Rogue assured me.

“So you are that thing that I’ve searching for.” Steven said unperturbed by Rogue’s threat of breaking his neck.

“He’s not a thing.” I shouted angrily at Steven.

“Let her go” Rogue yelled at Steven who was still holding my hair.

“No.” He refused and pulled my hair again, which made me gasp with pain.

“You can’t say I didn’t warn you.” Rogue said and the next thing I knew Steven was flying in the air, his body smacked against the wall and he started to wheeze in pain.

“That’s what you deserve.” I spat at Steven. And walked towards him to kick him but Rogue held me back.

“We have to go.” Rogue grabbed me as I was about to step on Steven’s groin.

“Reese you don’t know what he is……don’t leave with him he’s a dangerous animal.” Steven cried out in a pained voice, he tried to stand up but I could see he was in too much pain.

“The only dangerous animal here is you.” I yelled and exited the room with Rogue, outside I noticed several men who I knew worked for Steven lying in the ground not moving, frankly I didn’t care if they were dead or not. We ignored them and walked out.

“We have to go back to the motel, I left some stuff there.” Rogue announced as we exited the clinic.

I stopped walking and turned to him, “Rogue we can’t go back there, what if those people that shot us are around” I asked very terrified.

“We have to, there are some important documents in there that I need.”

“Rogue I think you should tell me what is going on once and fall, I mean haven’t I proven myself trustworthy already.” I asked.

“Reese now’s not the time ok….. What we need to do is concentrate on getting the stuff I left in the motel back.”

“Fine.” I said giving in, we then hopped into a cab and made our way back to the place Rogue and I had almost got killed, halfway I remembered something.

“You know those people that shot us, I don’t think it was Steven’s men, I think it was another group of people.” I told him. “But that doesn’t make any sense because who else would want to kill us.” I asked puzzled.

He took in a deep breath and stared at me, I could tell he was pondering on whether to ignore me or tell me the truth. “I think it’s the Company, the one manufacturing the flu virus, and that’s all I’m going to say for now.” He said firmly.

“But……” I started to say but he gave me a look that said I won’t tell you anything, so I settled back annoyed.

“I’m ok by the way thanks for asking.” He muttered angrily.

An hour later the disgusting motel came to view, immediately we got out, we were hit by the stench of urine, but this time I was expecting it.

“We can’t go through the front door can we?” I asked.

“we have to, I don’t know the structure of this building and I can’t waste time running around the building looking for ways to enter our room, if we go through the front door we can find my stuff and exit before they call the cops.” rogue explained.

As we in I saw the beefy receptionist watching a soap opera and stuffing his mouth with pizza, as he saw us his eyes widened and he dropped the pizza he was holding.

“Ignore him.” rogue whispered.

But it was hard to, this man was the same one who had betrayed us, what I f he called those assassins again and they came after us. At the door way of our room, rogue suddenly stooped and brought out a gun which I didn’t know he had. He seemed alert all of a sudden as if there was danger ahead.

“What is it?” I asked.

“Be quiet.’ He hissed at me and kicked the door open with his foot. “Wait here.” He said and then disappeared into the room.

What could be happening I wondered as I stood in the empty hallway? Were those assassins still around, was rogue safe in there?

“Son of a…….” I heard rogue exclaim, which made me jump up with fright, but after that exclamation he started to laugh and I heard several people talking quickly.

Curious and puzzled I stepped into the room wanting to know what was going on. The minute I entered I found rogue surrounded by seven people, one of them was female.  The minute I saw the girl, I felt this sense of uneasiness wash over me, I felt like I knew her and she was bad news, but that was very odd seeing as I couldn’t recognize her.

“Oh my god violet what are you doing here.” Rogue hugged the girl, who smiled at him sweetly, my heart squeezed with jealousy watching the two of them practically making out with their eyes.

Wait violet….VIOLET. Wasn’t that the name of the girl rogue had mentioned whiles he had been kissing when he was delirious. It couldn’t be.

“ROGUE!”  I shrieked angrily. Everyone stopped laughing and stared at me.

“Who’s that?” The girl called violet asked, staring at me like I was some unwanted dog. The nerve of that girl showing up and hugging my rogue, and giving me dirty looks, who the hell did she thinks she was.

“That’s er Reese; she saved me when I landed.” Rogue explained to violet.

“Oh hi.” Violet said sweetly but her eyes were full of venom. I gave her a weak smile.

“Reese these are my friends they are like me.” rogue said.

Wait………….. MORE ALIENS!!! Are you kidding me!

“You told her about us?” violet screeched. “rogue are you insane?”

Whiles violet continued to yell I stared at all the seven faces in the room stunned, more aliens; no I could not handle this especially when rogue seemed to like this violet girl a lot. I turned around and started to leave.

“Hey Reese where are you going.” Rogue called.

“I’m sorry but I can’t be here any longer Rogue, this is getting too much for me.” I told him, but before I could make another move that violet girl shot me with something and everything started to spin.

“VIOLET….WAHT THE HELL.” Rogue yelled running towards me.

“She can’t leave she knows too much.” I heard her say as I lay on the ground.

After she said this I remembered where I knew her from, she was one of the people who I had seen talking to the beefy receptionist, the same ones who had tried to kill me and rogue. The million dollar question was would rogue believe me when I told him the people who he called his friends had tried to kill us an hour ago?
