Chapter 1: A secret kept close

Jake had always known he was different. Not in the way most people meant it-not in a way that was visible, or something he could casually bring up in conversation. No, Jake's secret was something he had carried with him for as long as he could remember, tucked away in the corners of his mind like a folded note no one else could read. He was fifteen, a high school sophomore, and he had always worn diapers because his parents had been too busy with work to properly potty train him fully.

Unlike most kids who had the time and guidance to transition out of diapers, Jake's upbringing had been different. His parents had meant well, but their demanding jobs left little room for the consistency he needed. As a result, while he had learned to use the toilet at school, he still relied on Goodnites at home. It had become routine, something he accepted but never talked about.

At school, Jake blended in well enough. He had a small group of friends, did decently in his classes, and stayed out of trouble. But no one really knew him, not fully. The real him-the one who sometimes found solace in the very thing others would consider strange-remained hidden beneath layers of normalcy.

His home life was stable, if not predictable. His parents were busy but caring, and being an only child meant there was no nosy sibling to worry about. That was a relief. It meant that as long as he was careful, as long as he played it smart, his secret thoughts and feelings would stay just that-a secret.

But lately, the urge to explore his identity had grown stronger. He had spent hours online, reading forums and blogs from people like him, people who understood. It made him feel less alone, but it also made him want more. For the first time, he found himself seriously considering taking a risk-buying a different kind of diaper, one that wasn't just for nighttime accidents but catered to the side of him he was too afraid to acknowledge. The idea sent a mix of excitement and fear coursing through him. What if he got caught? What if someone saw him? But at the same time, what if he didn't? What if he kept waiting and wondering, always afraid to take that next step?

Lying in bed that night, staring at the ceiling, Jake made a decision. He wasn't sure how, or when, but he was going to do it. He was going to take the risk. He just had to be careful. No one could ever know.

But secrets have a way of slipping through even the smallest cracks.
