The morning sunlight streamed through the curtains, gently waking Jake. As he stretched, the familiar damp sensation of his Goodnite reminded him to be quick before Alex noticed. He carefully peeked over the edge of his bed-Alex was still asleep, breathing softly. Moving as quietly as possible, Jake gathered a fresh set of clothes and slipped out of the room, making his way to the bathroom.
Meanwhile, Alex stirred awake as Jake shut the bathroom door. Blinking groggily, he stretched and then checked himself. Not again... He had leaked slightly, which meant he had no choice but to tell Mrs. Faulkner. He sat up, debating if he should wait for Jake, but then decided to just get it over with.
Downstairs, Mrs. Faulkner was tidying up when Alex hesitantly walked into the living room. He rubbed the back of his neck, his face heating up. "Um..." Mrs. Faulkner? I, uh... had another accident."
She looked at him kindly and nodded. "That's okay, sweetie. Come on, let's get you sorted."
Alex followed her back upstairs, where she quickly helped him clean up and change. He was grateful for how casual she made it feel-no teasing, no judgment. Just understanding. Once he was dressed, she gave him a reassuring smile. "All set. Go ahead and join Jake for breakfast when you're ready."
By the time Alex returned to Jake's room, Jake was already dressed in jeans and a Metallica t-shirt. He looked up from his phone and grinned. "Finally up, huh?"
Alex chuckled. "Yeah, I guess I was more tired than I thought."
A knock on the door made them both turn as Mrs. Faulkner peeked in. "Boys, breakfast is ready."
They hurried downstairs, greeted by the smell of waffles and bacon. As they ate, they started planning out their day.
"So, arcade again?" Alex asked between bites.
Jake nodded. "And maybe hit up the park after?"
"Sounds like a plan."
The previous night's thoughts still lingered in Jake's mind, but as he laughed with Alex over breakfast, he pushed them aside. For now, he just wanted to enjoy the day ahead.
