A week has passed since then, and the distance between the towns became shorter. There was a highway going through the prairie, and we saw more people and Rug Dragons. I saw mountains in the direction the capital was in before I saw towns, and found out that the capital was near the mountains.
In short, there were a lot of Hollows.
The capital is near the east end of Wester, and I donât think itâs a convenient place to rule over the whole of Wester. If theyâre worried about safety, then the safest place to be would be that town where we hunted. I thought it was strange.
My thoughts aside, once the people who we passed knew that this was the Princeâs party, they avoided us, got off their Rug Dragons, and some saw royalty for the first time. Of course, the inns in these towns became more luxurious.
âLeila.â
âAi?â
The Prince said something as he approached me. Iâm going to behave myself.Itâs pretty fun to look everywhere as we pass people.
âStop those eyes.â
âThey wonâth wnow thheyâre vioweth.â (They wonât know theyâre violet)
âThey do. They definitely know who you are.â
What is he on about?
âSheâs probably saying, âHuu, they think youâre the Prince so cover your faceâ, Prince.â
âAlistair.â
âWhat is it?â
âDo you think this too?â
âYeah.â
âGuhaa.ân/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Alistair turned to his side. I think the last person is disqualified as a guard.
âJeez, I thought Iâd finally be respected as a royal now that Iâve returned near the vicinity of the capital.â Grumbling isnât Prince-like.
âLeila.â
âAi, Huu.â
âWeâre nearly at the capital. Behave yourself properly, no, well youâre always behaving yourself when you need to. In short...â
âIn shhorth?â
âThat part of you. Honestly, act like a baby, like a baby.â
âAai.â
âArgh.â
He looks dissatisfied even when I answer him. Heâs naggy. But, I could only have fun teasing him until the town before the capital.
âLeila-sama, this town is the town before the capital. Weâll be there in a few hours if we rush, but weâll be staying here tonight.â
âAi.â
Dory told me this. I wonder if weâll be staying in a luxurious room today too. The closer we got to the capital, more and more mayors and VIPs wanted to see someone from the Four Marquis, and the Prince granted their request. And Alistair and I agreed because there was nothing we could do.
Most people looked at Alistair and I as we stood next to each other, or they would look at us as I sat on Alistairâs lap and they would smile and say, âOh, so these are the summery and violet eyes.â
âThis is Kingdomâs,â there were also people who showed their sarcasm and dissatisfaction at Kingdom, and it was really tiring to meet those people.
If Otou-sama was with me, he probably wouldnât even take notice of those who want to meet us and say, âWhy do we have to meet them?â Frontier royals have it tough. I found out later that the Frontier royals didnât have it tough, and Otou-sama was just weird.
If I stick close to Alistair and open my eyes wide, then I get a good bed and delicious food, so I didnât have a hard time when I thought of it as an easy job.
But, that wasnât the case for Alistair. He hates nobles and reluctantly came because he was told that he could continue being a hunter. He looked displeased with being praised just for the colour of his eyes even though he hadnât been taught the responsibilities of the Four Marquises and he hadnât enjoyed their abundant lifestyle.
âSay, Lei.â
âAi.â
âDonât you hate it? Theyâre just staring at us.â We finished practising our magic and were practising how to make barriers when Alistair muttered this. I can easily feel the change in my magic, but it was difficult for Alistair.
Even so, he was practising hard because he said he would be invincible during hunts if he could do this.
âLei doesh.â
âSo you do. But youâre putting up with it. Lei, youâre amazing.â
Alistair patted my shoulders.
âI really hate it when people look at me like Iâm an exhibition sometimes.â
âAi, I wnow.â
âI wonder what I should do.â
âWubbishh,â I said when I remembered Otou-sama. Theyâre not rubbish. But, apparently, Otou-sama treats people who are noisy around him like theyâre rubbish.
âRubbish?â
âOtousyama doeshnâth care abouth peopwe.â (Otou-sama doesnât care about people)
âOtousyama? Leiâs dad?â
âPeopwe arenâth wohthh wohwying abouth. Thathâsh why he doeshnâth cawe.â (People arenât worth worrying about. Thatâs why he doesnât care)
âItâs not like theyâre not worth worrying about,â Alistair said as if he was a little shocked.
âMayowsh Awishthaih donâth wnow donâth chewhishh you. You donâth have tho wohwy abouth peopwe who donâth chehwishh you.â (Mayors Alistair doesnât know donât cherish you. You donât have to worry about people who donât cherish you)
Whew. I was able to talk a lot. I feel like Iâve achieved something.
âPeople live to help each other, donât they?â
âThe mayowsh donâth hewp you.â
âBuufoo.â The guard, who was standing quietly in the same room as us, burst out into laughter.
âAlistair-sama.â
âWhat?â
âHubert-sama is from the royal family of this country, so he thinks of the peopleâs benefit even if they donât help him.â
Alistair nodded meekly. Heâs not just a troublesome Prince. Alistair and I learnt throughout this journey that he is an excellent Prince who tries to hold back what he says all the time.
âBut, your position as part of the Four Marquises is different.â
âSo I donât have to think about the people?â
âItâs better if you think about them, but...â
The guard smiled.
âThe Lisburns already have a heir and so do the Albans. So youâll have your freedom even if you live in Kingdom, right?â
âNo way will I be free! Say, Lei.â
I wondered how it would have been if I raised myself.
âLei wiww pwobabwy be free.â (Lei will probably be free)
âLei.â Alistair looked betrayed.
âAwishthaih.â
âWhat?â
âNothhing you can do shince you have poweh.â (Nothing you can do since you have power)
âI know, but...â
âThe reshth ish up tho you.â (The rest is up to you)
Canât you just do what you like?
âSo... the rest is up to me?â
âLei ish fwee in Kingdom or in Weshthewh. I wonâth do anythhing I donâth wiwe.â (Lei is free in Kingdom or in Wester. I wonât do anything I donât like)
Alistair asked a little maliciously, âEven if you become an exhibition?â
âI geth food and a good bed.â
âBuufoo.â The guard held his stomach as he laughed.
âLei-sama is really good at explaining things.â
âI donâth thhinw abouth hahd thhingsh.â (I donât think of hard things)
I tapped Alistairâs knees.
âI donâth do whath i donâth wanth tho do. If I can howd ith in, thhen I wiww.â (I donât do what I donât want to do. If I can hold it in, then I will)
âItâs okay to be selfish?â
âAi. Otousyama ish shewfishh.â
Alistair looked like he had mixed feelings, but he also looked relieved.
âA baby who says itâs alright to be selfish. What the heck are the Four Marquises...â The guard was greatly perplexed. We couldnât be carefree. The next day, Alistair and I were surprised. A grand welcome had arrived from the capital of Wester.
âDonâth need.â
âThatâs...â
âBuufoo.â Itâs already the guardâs signature move to laugh.
