Then Chrissie came waddling exhaustingly over to the living room. Her eyelids were neatly black with eye shadow and her lips red with lipstick.
"So... huff... what's for lunch?"
Brienne had been asked to help out Chrissie because Ritchie was going to travel for work for a month, as a new restaurant was going to be opened in another state. The couple had never been apart for so long after they met, and so the girl was really sad when he was to leave.
"Promise me you'll call everyday, kid," she said, tears rolling down her overstuffed face.
"I will! You grab that cellphone as soon as you hear, OK?"
"Deal."
That day the obese 25-year-old was very quiet, and she munched repeatedly on snacks that seemed to be everywhere in the kitchen of the big house. Brienne talked to her, and she did most of the talking, as Chrissie seemed in a reserved mood. Suddenly an idea struck her, and she laughed under her breath because of how obvious it seemed:
"What's something you've always wanted to eat, darling?"
"What...?" the girl snapped out of thought, grabbing an almost entire potato chip that was on her double chin.
"I can cook you something nice, cheer you up. You know, if you think Ritchie's a good cook it's because you haven't tasted my food yet," she added.
"Oh..." she laughed, "no you don't have to, there's a lot of food left from lunch."
"Ah, so now you'll pretend that you don't want to eat?"
"What?"
"I mean... Come on, to do something different."
"Fine... Let me think," she said, placing the bag of chips on top of her belly, "It's been a while since I had a lasagna, now that I think of it."
"Alright, you hit the jackpot, I make a mean one."
"Nice! We'll have it for dinner," she said, and she sounded very excited now, "I'm craving some hot cocoa now, though."
"Don't worry, I'm right on it."
She got up and walked over to the kitchen, and grabbing the milk and chocolate to melt she looked over at the terribly obese woman watching tv on the sofa, something inside her made she want to say her thoughts out loud, and so she did under her breath:
"I'll fill you up to the brim."
