To every single reader,
Thank you.
Honestly, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
When writing about topics so controversial and mature, I have previously found that the levels of readers have been low. Of course, I do understand why people choose not to read about these topics yet I can't help but think we need to talk about them.
Suicide is one of the leading causes of death amongst American teenagers. Despite it being a topic that a lot more people discuss now, male suicide still tends to be ignored.
We live in a society that teaches boys that they shouldn't cry or show any basic human emotions, and this is wrong.
And it's our job to fix it.
Every single character in my book has faced some form of problem, whether it be Kenzie's childhood sexual abuse or Jesse's difficulty to live without seeing Ivan.
Every single person in this world has a story, has lived through things that nobody knows anything about.
Talk to your partners. Talk to your parents, or your siblings, or your friends.
Don't force yourself to suffer alone. Kenzie's fear of his father and his past led him down a path of self destruction and hated, one that no one should have to deal with.
There is nothing wrong with asking for help.
There is nothing wrong with being human.
