Chapter 115 Let her go?
When Noah heard those words, it was as if a sharp knife had been thrust directly into his chest.
He had never considered doing anything to her, so how could he let her go?
âPlease, Noah, let me go. The facts have proven that I owe you nothing, and I almost died once. If this was taken into consideration, it would appear that you owed me instead. However, this is in the past. Let bygones be bygones, shall we? Let me leave with the kid. I swear Iâll never bother you again.â
âYouâre leaving? Where are you going?â A glimmer of anxiety appeared when Noah looked at the woman in front of him.
âYou donât need to know that. All you need to know is that I will never bother you again. That should be enough, shouldnât it? After all, youâve always despised me.â
Even though Madeline had put her hatred aside, there was one thing she was certain of-Noah despised her! One could even say that he thought she was repugnant!
So, even if sheâd been cleared of suspicion, she wasnât the âMs. Madelineâ Quincy had been nice to all along.
Since Thomas had sent Noah the video of her conversation with Angie on the hilltop, she couldnât hide her identity any longer.
How could she have deserved the breakfast he had prepared for her?
âMadeline Grant, who told you I have always hated you?â
âIsnât it?â Madeline asked, a little unsure.
âWhat makes you think Iâll let you take the child?â
âI gave birth to the child, so I must take him with me.â Madeline stood firm in her decision.
She had opened up about times when she had been falsely accused, shunned, and even when she had almost died. However, she would not step back when the matter came to her child.
She had to take Colt with her. That boy had endured great suffering under Noah all these years!
âI had a hand in the conception of that child. Iâm not going to agree.â Noah gave a satisfied smile. He even drank a sip of the strawberry juice he had made for Madeline.
âYou...â Madeline was at a loss for words. Such a shameless jerk, this one! His face is as thick as a wall, uttering such heinous nonsense in broad daylight!
âI canât let you take the child away, but you are welcome to stay. In light of the fact that you are not the murderer, I owe you your life. Donât you want to reclaim it?â
âAlso, do you believe Angie has the intelligence to steal the Quincy familyâs secrets and murder Grandpa? Donât you want to catch the person responsible for this?â
Noah closed in on her slowly, and before Madeline knew it, she was cornered.
A large hand encircled her slim waist. She was forced to move closer to Noah, and the cool, woody aroma emanating from him instantly dispelled Madelineâs doubts.
In the next second, a smile that could charm all living things worked its way across her face. She continued, âNoah, you want me to stay here so badly. Donât tell me youâve fallen in love with me. How is it possible that I was unaware of Mr. Quincyâs propensity to reconcile with former lovers?â
âLove you? Am I being too obvious?â
âYou couldnât be more obvious.â
âThatâs great. I thought you didnât notice it.â Noah appeared to be relieved all of a sudden. With adoration so intense it might have drowned someone, he cast a loving gaze down at her.
Madeline, who had previously been very pleased with herself, was now dumbfounded.
That jerk! He really has skin thicker than the crust of the earth!
She was too tired to keep bickering with him in that position, so she just wanted to push him away, but she failed miserably.
She was held captive by Noah in the corner of a wall. He was clearly injured but still as tough and unyielding as a fortified fortress. It was so shocking!
âMadeline, are you happy to learn Iâm in love with you?â As he edged toward Madeline, who was eager to leave that place, Noah asked her with great interest.
âI apologize. Mr. Quincy, I was young and inexperienced when I courted you. Now that Iâm older, I donât like men like Mr. Quincy, so please donât waste your time on me any longer.â
âYoung and inexperienced? Hehe! Madeline, do you think Iâll believe you?â
âIt is entirely up to you whether or not to believe. Whatever happens, Iâm taking the kid with me for sure!â
âYou can try, but I will never stop loving you. You and I are still married, after all. The love between a husband and wife can always be nurtured slowly.â
âSince when have I been your wife and you my husband?â Madeline retorted subconsciously but soon realized she had a serious problem on her hands.
Their divorce was not finalized that year when they unintentionally had children.
However, it had been such a long time. Why hadnât Noah resolved their issue? He previously wanted to marry Angie, didnât he?
Was this to say that Angie was aware of her role as the third wheel all along?
âYouâre getting the idea. You have no reason to be skeptical because I have never sought the annulment of our marriage. You are still Mrs. Quincy!â
âYou!â
âIs Mr. Quincy available today, in that case? Letâs get a divorce, shall we?â
âDivorce? Hehe! Dream on!â
âNoah Quincy! What the heck do you want?!â
âIâve said it. I fell in love with you.â
âIf I believe it, Iâll be damned!â
âWhether you believe it or not is up to you. The omelet is starting to get cold. Go have your breakfast first; only then will you be able to escape my clutches.â
With those words, Noah released Madeline from his clutches. Then he spun on his heels and walked over to the dining table, motioning for Madeline to join him.
Madeline didnât want to, but her stomach growled, betraying her.
Only then did she realize she hadnât eaten much all day yesterday, and her hands were shaking from hunger. Forget it. Iâll just eat first and think later.
Madeline walked over and sat in the chair Noah had pulled out for her unceremoniously. She took up her utensils and began to eat.
Noah was particularly skilled at making omelets.
âItâs delicious, isnât it?â
âItâs alright.â
âDo you really trust me that much, Madeline? Are you sure I havenât spiked your omelet?â
âCough...Cough... Cough...Cough... Smash!â Madeline was enjoying her meal when Noah suddenly reminded her, and she began coughing unintentionally.
Just as she was about to turn around to get a tissue, her clothes accidentally brushed up against the plate, causing it to fall to the ground and shatter in an instant.
The magnitude of her response surprised Noah. He was about to pass her a tissue when he heard a porcelain plate fall to the ground and shatter.
âDonât even think about touching it. Iâll take care of it.â When he saw Madeline about to squat, he grabbed her hand and drew her to the side, where he began to clean up the pieces of broken plate.
Madeline sat on the side and looked at him, her emotions in turmoil.
Noah Quincy, who had always displayed a sense of superiority and arrogance, had not only learned how to make soup, but he was even capable of cleaning a room.
She was experiencing a surreal sensation. She even thought she might be dreaming.
He knew she was Madeline Grant now. Why was he still nice to her?
Was this a new way for him to exact his vengeance?
âNoah, where did this fragment come from? Why does it look like my porcelain plate... Uh, it really is my porcelain plate!â After destroying his own cooking, he had no choice but to come downstairs and sweet-talk Noah into giving some omelets. He didnât expect to see a piece of the broken porcelain plate roll to his feet as soon as he stepped out of the elevator.
He bent down to pick up the broken piece, and when he saw the patterns clearly on it, his heart broke instantly!
