Chapter 133 It was like the air was sucked right out of Madeline, and she was then thrown out of the wood cabin.
She smashed through the window of the cabin and lay among the shattered glass on the lawn.
Madeline saw stars from the crash.
Amid the haziness, she caught a glimpse of the man, who strangled her with a silver wire, walking out of the cabin.
âHa! I expected more from the woman who caught LF. Thatâs a disappointment.â The man in black took strides over to her while speaking in contempt and disdain.
âYouâre one of Lone Wolfâs men. So you were the one who kidnapped the Quinciesâ young boy?â
Her internal alarm bells prompted Madeline to stay alert.
Propping herself up, Madeline touched her bleeding neck and fixated on the man before her. Her eyes reflected her intent to get blood on her hands.
âThatâs right. Iâm Vic of Lone Wolfâs men. Lone Fox is my best friend. You will pay for crippling him!â
Fueled with bloodthirst, Vic was ready to pounce on his prey.
âHold on!
âWhereâs the Quinciesâ boy?â Madeline was not going to shy away from the fight, but she needed to get to the bottom of the childrenâs location.
âI left him in the cabin. As for where he is now, I have no idea. He wonât go far since heâs injured, so heâs probably eaten by some wild animals.â
Vic offhandedly commented without hiding the contempt on his face.
He caught wind that the woman would come looking for the child if he was taken, so he volunteered to take the job.
It did not matter to him what happened to the kid.
Madeline was exasperated, feeling a rush of blood to her head.
âSo youâre saying that you ditched the child to the middle of nowhere. Heâs only five!â
âIâm a killer, alright? Why should I provide childcare to the Quincies? Besides, I kidnapped the Quinciesâ boy. Why are you making a fuss out of it?â
Finding Madeline amusing, Vic taunted.
âThat boy is my son.â
âOh, my. I couldnât tell that your connections ran deep with the Quincies. All the more reason I canât let you walk out of here alive today.â Tension ran along Vicâs facial lines as he stared at Madeline.
âHa! Do you think youâre off the hook after taking my son? Arenât you curious how Lone Fox was caught? Well, let me show you.â
Madeline blew on the whistle hanging around her neck.
The whistling startled the birds in the forest.
With the birds scattering, Albert, who was nearby and waiting for Madelineâs signal, rushed to the scene most expeditiously.
Wayne, who was cutting through the back with his men, heard the commotion and arrived with his people.
âGet him! Make him wish he was dead.â
âYes, Ms. Grant.â
âGot it, Mrs. Quincy!â
Albert, Wayne, and other aides surrounded Vic at Madelineâs orders.
Each and every one of them carried a bow, aiming the arrow at the target.
Despite being hemmed in on all sides, Vic let out a smug laugh.
âDo you think these people are enough to stop me? What a joke!â
âDonât get your panties in a knot! Iâm here as well!â Thirteen gathered momentum by stepping on the branch and leaped off a tree. He landed on Vicâs shoulder.
âIâm sorry, Maddie. I was late because I was busy finishing a fruit.â
Madeline helplessly put her palm on her face. She waved the people off to deal with Vic. All was good so long as they got the psycho.
She pulled out her phone to check on Thomasâ phone signal.
The red dot that was Thomas was still flashing.
Since she was certain that Thomas was nowhere near the kidnapper, Madeline dialed his number.
Although she was about to nail Thomasâ location down, she was unsure how close the brat was to the kidnapper. That was the reason why she tracked the boys down without giving Thomas a message or a call. Madeline feared the phone notification would put Thomas in danger.
The call was quickly connected.
On the other end of the line, Thomas sounded rather excited.
âMommy, you finally called me! I sent you a lot of text messages, but you didnât reply to any of them. I thought nobody wanted the lovable kid that I am anymore.â
Thomasâ whining came through on the other end.
âWhere are you, Thomas? Are you with Colt?â
Madeline asked while gripping the phone. She was all over the place.
Her worst fear was that they were not together, and something had happened to Colt.
âAh, I guess you found out. Thatâs right. Your precious son â me â just saved Colt. Am I cool or what, Mommy?â
Thomas showered himself with compliments. The boyâs cockiness knew no boundaries as it could feel without his presence here.
It was that smug confidence that gave Madeline assurance.
âYes, you are! Youâre so cool, Thomas! Tell me where you are now. Are you safe?â
The praise came from Madelineâs heart.
Her little devil spawn had his moments.
âWeâre in a cave half a mile away West of the cabin. Colt and I are safe.
Between you and me, my lilâ brother is pretty good at roasting potatoes. I donât want to admit to it, but it tastes really good...â
Thomas suddenly turned down his volume to tell her a secret.
It was there and then that Madeline knew the kids were out of harmâs way.
âStay there. Iâll pick you up once I take care of the bad guy.â
âAlright! You can do it, Mommy!â
Thomas cheerfully screamed.
While the boy was not looking, Colt took over the phone.
âStay safe, Mommy.â
âSure.â
Madeline felt warm and cozy inside when she heard Coltonâs voice.
She hung up the call and decided to get Thomas to modify Coltâs phone after all this was over.
Coltâs phone had been altered so that the boy could keep up his interest in finances and stocks. Nevertheless, it had slipped Madelineâs mind to install a better GPS signal and tracking.
Madeline took a few seconds to gather her thoughts.
She then turned on her heel and returned to the âbattlefieldâ.
Vic was surrounded, and a golden mesh, the same used to capture Lone Fox, hung against him.
His face was black and blue.
Now she got him!
Standing on the sidelines, Madeline mimicked Vicâs taunting smile and pressed a button to activate the golden mesh.
Caught unawares, Vic experienced an electric shock and collapsed to the ground.
At the same time, the mesh contracted, binding Vic up.
âHow is it? Now, do you know how Lone Fox was captured?â
âYou donât play fair, woman!â
Trapped in the mesh, Vic was weak from the electric shock.
Although Vic put on the tough talk, the discoloration on his face was apparent.
At a closer inspection, they could see beads of sweat falling off his head.
âHa! What a joke! Why should I play fair with a killer who picks on a kid?â
âYou!â
âYouâre a nutcase. Iâm being kind for not killing after what you did to my son!â
Standing before Vic, Madeline looked him dead in the eye and pressed the button every now and then. She told Albert to hang Vic on the tree when the latter passed out.
âAlbert, do we have a function for the mesh to initiate the electric shock once every ten minutes...â
Vic, who was forcefully woken up, was fuming to hear those words.
