YOUR POV
"Come on baby, I have to drop you off at the school soon." I called upstairs to my little four year old daughter.
"I coming mama!" Lily yelled back, her backpack that looked too big on her bouncing up and down as she waddled down the stairs.
I picked her up in my arms when she reached the last step and spun her around. Both of us laughing hysterically.
"You ready to go see your friends?" I asked the little girl, smoothing back the mop of brown curls on her head.
Lily nodded her head, giving me a smile showing off her missing baby teeth. Lily took my hand and led me outside of our little apartment, me locking the door at the end.
[...]
"Where is it? Please don't tell me I left my phone at home." I grumbled as I dug through my bag. My head whipped around as I heard a loud grunt before something heavy fell to the ground. I saw a man dressed in all black laying unconscious on the ground, a fiery redhead standing over him.
"Ummm..."
"He was going to mug you." She shrugged.
"And you'd know that because?" I chuckled.
"He followed you for three blocks and had a gun attached to his thigh." The woman informed, stepping over the unconscious man so that we were face to face now.
"Well then I guess thanks... ya know, for following me too."
"You're welcome. Where do you need to go? I can walk you there." The ginger offered.
"I work at the bank down the street. I'm y/n by the way." I scratched the back of my neck.
"That's a pretty name." A faint smile curled back her lips but it left just as quickly as it happened. Something tells me she doesn't smile all that much. "Come on, don't want you to be late for work."
[...]
The next time I met the mysterious redhead was one night after a late shift at the bank. My boss had an emergency and I had to lock up all by myself. I was thankful my brother was able to pick Lily up from school and hangout with her at the apartment until I made it back.
"How was work?" A husky voice asked me.
I jumped in my skin, nearly dropping my phone, "You scared me." I chuckled breathlessly, shaking my head at the lurking ginger. "You stalking me now?"
"I believe the term is watching from a distance." She smirked.
"Wow, yeah, that totally makes it better." I teased.
"You didn't answer my question." The redhead pushed off from the wall and walked over to me.
"Hmm? Oh! Work was exhausting." I smiled softly as I ran my fingers through my hair.
"Then I should probably get you home." Her lips curled back into the same small smile again, like she was fighting herself on if she wanted to show me that side of her.
"Only if you tell me your name." I smirked at her as we began walking down the sidewalk.
"Natalia."
"That's a pretty name."
Both of us walked along the sidewalk side by side, talking about random things and then falling into silence. I slowed my steps down, not wanting to make it home so soon so that I had more time with the mysterious redhead. Natalia didn't seem to mind, and if she did she didn't say anything.
"Well this is me." I bounced back and forth on the balls of my feet, standing outside my apartment door. "Do you want to come inside?"
"No, thanks for the offer. I just have to get back." Natalia politely declined.
"Oh." I tried to hide the disappointment from my tone at the thought of not being in the gingers company anymore.
"Here, give me your phone." Natalia held her hand out for me. I took my phone out of my pocket and placed the device in her hand, watching her type away before handing it back to me.
"Call me if you ever need saving." Natalia chuckled lightly, stuffing her hands into the pockets of her leather jacket.
"Something tells me you'll be 'watching from a distance' anyway." I teased with a smile.
"I believe that's called stalking." She teased back.
I laughed, my eyes welling up with tears of joy.
"Have a good night, y/n." Nat bid me softly.
"You too, Natalia."
[...]
"I'm sorry, I should have been watching where I was going." I chuckled after I bumped into someone. "Natalia?"
"Hey." She breathed, eyes scanning around as people walked around us since we were stopped in the middle of the sidewalk.
"We have got to stop meeting like this." I chuckled.
"Yeah.. come with me." She grabbed my arm and dragged me into a dark alleyway.
"Woah, didn't peg you for the murder type."
"There's people following me and that's all I can say." Her head peaked around the corner.
"Sounds like a normal Thursday for you."
"You have no idea." I heard her mumble under her breath.
"I think they're gone." Nat let out a deep breath, "Sorry to drag you into this like that."
I shook my head, "It's okay... I think. Umm do you maybe... want to go and grab something to eat?"
"Sure." Nat shrugged, the same damn smile threatening to go bigger.
[...]
It's been a total of three months since my first encounter with the ginger. It's also been a month since her and I made things official. Both of us talking long into the morning hours or texting each other whenever we had free time. My life was different when I was with her and I enjoyed the change of pace. It was also nice to have someone walk with me to work sometimes, meeting up at the corner of one of the roads and grabbing some coffee.
Today was the day that I decided would be as good as any for Natalia to meet my four year old daughter Lily. I was nervous to say the least. It's not like she didn't know of Lily, because I talked about my daughter here and there. Natalia said she sounded like a wonderful kid with a wild imagination and that she'd be happy to meet her.
"Mama, who's dis?" Lily asked looking up at me and then back to Nat, her tiny hand gripping my pants.
"I'm Natalia. What's your name?" Nat smiled softly at the little girl as she kneeled down so they were both eye level now.
"I'm Lily. You're very pwetty." Lily giggled.
"Awe!" Nat cooed, "I see you get your good looks from your mama." Nat smiled, and I mean a full blown smile. The kind of smile that took your breath away.
I smiled down at my daughter, running my fingers through the curls on her head. I locked the door behind me once I invited Natalie in, smiling when I saw Lily take her hand and drag her over to her coloring books sprawled out on the coffee table.
[...]
"Look at me mama! Look how high I can go!" Lily giggled as she swung back and forth on the swing.
"Wow! I think you can swing higher than me now!" I yelled back enthusiastically.
"Thank you for dinner the other night. I had a really great time... and not to brag or anything, but Lils told me I was her bestest friend." Nat bumped me with her shoulder.
"Did she now? Well what am I? Chopped liver?" I feigned being hurt.
"You were somewhere between superhero and best mommy ever." Nat told me with a smile, going back to watching Lily swing.
"Good to know." I giggled, "And you don't have to thank me for dinner, I enjoyed having you over."
"Maybe... we can do it again sometime. This time at my place and you can bring Lily." The ginger turned back to look at me biting her lip nervously.
I placed my hand over top hers, rubbing the skin softly to help soothe her, "That sounds amazing. Lily really likes you."
Nat shook her head with a smile, all her worried seemingly vanishing into thin air, "Id hope with a title of her bestest friend, she did."
"You're not going to give that up are you?" I sighed dramatically.
"Nope." The ginger replied popping the P, "I'm going to go to the bathroom. I'll be right back."
I watched my girlfriend disappear around the corner, turning back around I saw that Lily was gone.
"Lily?" I called her name looking around the playground.
"LILY!?" I yelled in pure panic.
[...]
"Ugh my head," I groaned as I fluttered my eyes open, trying to ignore the throbbing of my skull.
"Mama!" Lily sniffled.
"L-Lily?" I croaked, eyes opening fully as I realized my daughter was sitting in front of me, "Oh my god, Lily! Are you okay? Are you hurt?"
Lily shook her head, fresh tears running down her cheeks, "My wrists hurt. These are too tight."
"Wha-" I lowered my eyes towards her wrists, fully comprehending that both of us were tied to chairs in a dimly lit room.
"Mama I'm scared." Lily whispered.
"It's going to be okay, honey. I'm going to find us a way out of here." I told her sincerely, tugging at the itchy rope that scratched at my skin.
Both of us jumped when the door creaked open with a loud bang, a few beefy men walking in with guns strapped to their chest and both their thighs.
"Who do you work for?" The Russian man spat in my face.
"Fucking Bank of America, asshole!" I spat a wad of saliva in his face, the liquid dripping down into his beard.
My head whipped to be side when the back of his palm cut into my cheekbone.
"MAMA!" Lily cried.
"Who do you work for?" He growled.
"Nobody." I hissed.
"NOBODY!" He yelled loudly, "Just becomes friends with the Black Widow!"
"Who?" I asked.
"The red head you've been hanging out with!" The Russian hissed. "And who's this? Another spy they've trained!?"
"Mama tell him to get off!" Lily squealed when another man gripped her cheeks together forcefully.
"I believe that's a kid, fuck face. Her names Lily." Natalia burst through the door, a smirk stained in red lipstick gracing her face.
"Black Widow!" The head man barked and the other two pulled their guns out.
Natalia, or Black Widow, as they seemed to think she was, was faster in pulling her guns out at shot the three men.
"Are you guys okay?" Natalie's sea green eyes raked up and down both our bodies when she cut us free, making sure we didn't need medical attention. "What happened to your eye?" Her tone was soft but yet demanding, holding a hint of growl and yet she sounded like she wanted to cry. It was all so complicated and emotional, her hand reaching up to touch the cut on my cheekbone but winced and decided not too.
"I'm not going to break, ya know." I told her quietly, glancing down at the ground and finding my shoes rather interesting.
"I know." Natalia replied in the same quiet tone. "How about I get you two out of here and I'll explain everything on the way."
"You have a lot of explaining to do!" Lily tugged on the tac suit Natalia seemed to be wearing.
[...]
"Like this?" I asked in a teasing tone as Natasha showed me different fighting positions.
Nat smiled at me, letting her head fall with a shake before coming over being me, "arm up and the other one tucked in to your side."
Her smooth hands grabbed my limbs and positioned them in the right spot, lingering a little longer than necessary but I wasn't complaining.
"We can be done for the day. You did good." She smiled before tilting my head towards her as we shared a kiss, the afternoon breeze caressing our faces.
"I can't believe my girlfriend is a superhero." I shook my head with a chuckled, chest swelling with pride for her.
Nat hummed, "I can't believe my girlfriend works at Bank of America."
I rolled my eyes back as a groan of disapproval left my throat, "You're never letting me live that down."
Nat cackled, snorting slightly too, "He was all like 'who do you work for?'" Nat drooped her voice a few octaves to imitate the man.
I shook my head at her unamused by her antics.
"And you were all like-" Nat cut herself off as a bubbling laugh left her throat, "Bank of America, asswipe!" Her tone raising a few squeaky octaves.
"I said asshole not asswipe. Second of all, I do not sound like that." I giggled.
"Alright Alright." Nat tilted her head a little in agreement, her lips pressing into a thin like as she smiled.
"You gotta admit, that was a pretty bad ass comeback!" I popped the collar of my shirt as I smacked my lips cockily.
The redhead snorted loudly, "Yeah, okay babe." She snickered.
"You're just jealous." I grumbled, being pulled into her firm chest as she gripped the end of my shirt.
"Shut up and kiss me." The ginger smiled against my lips as she connected ours once more.
