Ch1: Who Does My Mother Think She Is?
1 day before
I can't believe my mother called me. After everything she did my mother still had the audacity to call me and demand my presence.
Who does my mother think she is?
I was certain that after I told my mother I never wanted to see her she would understand and leave me alone. She didn't understand and the only reason I'm here is because my mother said it was urgent. At first I didn't believe my mother, all she does is lie, but she said it was about the company. The company my father had worked day and night to establish and I didn't have it in me to say no.
My grandpa had established L&F's Inc., one of the most successful companies in the country. When he passed and left the company to my father it was in bankruptcy. I watched my father work as if his life depended on it to bring the company back. My father made the company what it is today, but after his death the company saw its downfall coming. My mother kept the company at its status, but she became a monster. Well, she was always a monster she let her true self come out when she became the head of L&F's Inc. I'm aware that since I'm the oldest of my siblings it means I'm L&F's Inc. heiress. Although after what my family did I stopped caring about the company. In fact I left everything that came with my family behind almost three years ago and today is the first time I will see them since.
"You may come in" my mother's assistant smiles. I have been waiting outside my mother's conference room for ten minutes and I'm nervous.
"Thank you," I smile back before opening the conference door and walking in. I expect my mother, sister, and brother, but I didn't realize how much hatred I have for them.
How much I despise seeing them and although it's been almost three years since everything happened the hatred I felt then, is the same I feel now.
"Big sister," my brother Nathaniel smiles, that smug rich kid smile he always has plastered on his face. His fiery red hair and bright green eyes were the only things that made us look alike.
"Little brother," I answer the same smug smile on my face. Anyone would confuse our confrontation as one with appreciation, but it's quite the opposite. Although I hate him the least, I still hate him.
"Sister," the most revolting of my family members says bitterly. Her hollow brown eyes, dark dull dark hair, and snobbish smile are all too familiar to me.
"Alisson," I nod stiffly mentally sending daggers at her. I hate my sister almost as much as I hate my mother. Alisson is the second world's most self-centered, cold, backstabbing, bitch I know, but what can you say she learned from our mother who happens to be number one.
"Why do you want me here Elizabeth?" I address my mother while sitting down on the opposite side of the table. I call my mother by her first name, she has lost the privilege of hearing me call her mother again.
I always look at her and think of my dad, yet they're nothing alike. My dad was the one with the fiery red hair and green eyes. Me and Nathan were lucky enough to look like him, my sister not so much. She has my mothers dull dark hair, empty brown eyes and snobbish smile. Alisson is a walking portrait of my mother.
"To talk," she answers " had you been here for the last three years you would be informed. We're closing a very important contract with the Stones company. The only problem is we think that Mr. Kyle Stone is having difficulty deciding whether to sign it or not."
"Why do I care?" I say keeping my voice cold and distant.
"Because to convince him," my mother smirks "we made a deal with him. You've heard of his son Elliot Stone and the reputation he has."
Elliot Stone is famous for being the richest bad ass or in my opinion the richest dumbass. Everyone talks about how he's always picking fights, dating millions of girls, and doing illegal car races. He's also a rude, and bitter alcoholic. Let's not forget that he's hot, but like I said before a dumbass which makes him less hot.
"I still don't get why I'm here," I say.
"Well," my sister glares at me "he wants to control his son and let say 'change' him, so we thought we would send him with the coldest bitch in town."
"So you took him home," I smirk and my sister's fury grow. I can still make her angry and it pleases me.
"Enough," my mother raises her voice "I didn't call you so you could come and fight with your sister. I know you don't like being here."
"That's one way of sugar coating it" Nathaniel spits out and I see my mother glare at him.
"Look, you still hate us for what happened three years ago," Elizabeth takes a deep breath her eyes softening.
"Don't," I cut her off my voice icy cold "bring that up. Ever."
"We did what's best for you-"
"Stop," I exclaim smacking my hands on the table "you did what's best for you! You didn't care about me so don't you dare bring that bullshit back!"
"You're just mad because h-" my sister starter, but I stand up.
"I don't need this," I walk away, but my mother calls me back.
"Look," she says "have a seat. We won't talk about the past, but hear me out."
"Fine," I sit "but don't go around the bush. Tell me why you need me."
"Elliot Stone in living with you for a year," my mother announces, and I wait a few seconds for her to say she's joking before I laugh.
"No," I shake my head "that's not happening. It's a risk I'm not willing to take."
"Yes it is," my mother nods "if you want this company to survive."
"I don't care about this company," I state.
"But your father did."
"Don't you dare talk about my father," I say an edge to my voice "you have no right. Besides he's not here anymore, and this company stopped being the company my father cherished a long time ago."
"Who's fault is-" Nathan begins, but my mother cuts him off.
I know exactly what Nathaniel was going to ask, and it pains me. He's right after all, but I will never admit it in front of them. Even less allow them to notice how much it affects me which is why I perfected the art of emotionlessness. It's tricky because you have to keep your posture relaxed, your face expressionless, and your voice monotone.
"Stop," my mother answers anger visible in her posture " if you don't do this then I'll make sure every news reporter starts talking about what happened three years ago."
No. My mother would never dare to do that. It would make things hard for me and even destroy all I've worked for these last three years.
Although, if this contract means more money than she would do anything. Even if it means destroying her own family.
"No," I shake my head "you wouldn't dare. It would bring the company bad publicity and Mr. Stone would never sign the contract then."
"If you don't agree to this he wont sign the contract anyways," she smiles pleased with blackmailing me "so what's it going to be? Living with Elliot Stone for a year or me bringing back what happened."
What will I rather happening?
Everyone re-watching my biggest nightmare or sharing a roof with a rich dumbass for a year.
I 'm trying to keep my face emotionless, but the anger I have boiling inside of me is threatening to explode.
This is why I hate my mother. She can blackmail her daughter with what she knows will destroy her.
Am I going to allow my mother to reveal my deepest secret?
"When and where do I pick him up?" I ask defeated and they all smile with satisfaction.
I hate them.
"Tomorrow at eight in the morning," my mother answers "in the city's airport."
