Ava POV

I cuddled deeper into the warmth of my comfy blanket and was about to fall back asleep when my door burst open. I groaned, "what?"

Suddenly my blanket was yanked away and I yelled, "hey!"

"Get up, get up! Training will start in half an hour so get ready and go eat your breakfast."

I can hear uncle Dave move around the room but I just turned to my side and was about to fall into the land of sleep when I was suddenly drenched in ice cold water. I screamed as I shot up from the shock of the cold water. "What the hell?!"

He burst out laughing. "Come on, kiddo! You've just had your shower, now all you need to do is get dressed."

I glared his way as I can still hear him laughing, heading out of my room. That man I swear, I thought as I grudgingly got out of bed, shivering. I got ready within ten minutes and headed down to the kitchen. I sat at the counter, scowling.

"Awww, why the mad face?" He teased.

I just ignored him, still scowling as I started eating my waffles that he placed in front of me. He just chuckled and waited until I was done.

Once we entered the gym, he turned on some music and we started our usual routine, starting with stretching. It is currently 5 o'clock in the morning so we have a whole hour of training.

"Okay let's start off with drills," he started and I groaned. "Don't even bother complaining, get your ass to the bar."

The drills is a set of exercises that I perform, which starts from push-ups, then sit-ups, jumping jacks and lastly, pull-ups. Now don't get me wrong, they are easy to do after doing it for years but when you're doing a repetitive cycle of it, you will understand why I'm reluctant to do it. My uncle can make me do the drill until it feels like I'm dying.

I walked towards the bar, stretching my arms out until I feel both poles, letting me know that I'm right underneath the bar. I took a few deep breaths and waited for him.

"Okay, ready..." He blew the whistle and I automatically dropped down to do push-ups. He blew the whistle again, I quickly switched to sit-ups. He blew the whistle every few minutes, letting me go through the exercises. We were on the fifth round and I was already struggling in pulling myself up and down the bar but I just focused on my breathing. He kept me on the bar for awhile until he blew the whistle twice, letting me know it was over. I dropped to the floor, my knees nearly buckled beneath me but I grabbed onto the bar and steadied myself.

He gave me time to catch my breath as he gave me a bottle of water. I took a few sips of water when he told me to go to the mat. I placed my water down and walked towards the direction where I knew the mats were placed. Once we were there, I rolled my shoulders and started bouncing lightly on the balls of my feet.

"Okay, we only got fifteen minutes left so we are just going to work on defense okay?"

"What? Are you serious?" I complained.

"Yes, Ava, I'm serious. Saturday, we'll do aikido."

I held myself back from squealing and just nodded. I actually love learning different types of fighting styles and I still wonder how he knows to fight so well but he always says that he'll tell me one day and I never pushed him.

"Remember, don't just focus on your senses, also trust on your instincts."

I nodded and cleared my mind, taking a calming breath. After training with him for years, he also managed to learn how to be more stealthy around me with my acute hearing.

I felt the shift in the air and I immediately leaned back to block the blow to my head and twisted around to avoid a hit to the middle. When I straightened up, I got hit on the side and my breath hissed out through clenched teeth. I quickly brought my arm up and blocked him again. We went like this for awhile, blocking hits and getting kicked or punched a few times. By the time, he called it quits, I wanted to drop down to the floor and sleep. My arms were aching, my legs felt like they were going to give out on me and my body felt like it was hit by a double decker bus on max speed. My heart was pounding hard and fast but honestly, that's the best feeling. It may seem like I'm reluctant to train but I actually love it. I love the adrenaline and the feeling of power, knowing that even though I'm blind, I am capable of defending myself.

"Okay, its already 6:17, you need to get ready for school," he said. "I'm going to have to drop you to school before 7, I have to head to New York for a business meeting."

I nodded as I rolled my tense shoulders and neck, "partnership kind of deal or are you buying another building?"

"No, I'm actually selling a building."

My brows shot up in surprise, "really? Which one?"

"One of my auto-shops. Since I have more than enough auto-shops, why not just sell it to someone who wants it?"

"Hm, yeah that's a good idea, it's not like you know anything about cars, anyways," I teased as we walked out of the gym.

He scoffed, sounding offended, "excuse me? I'll have you know that I actually know a lot about cars."

I laughed as I walked up the stairs, calling out, "yeah, I know. It's just fun teasing you."

"Ha ha ha," he said sarcastically and I just laughed again and walked to my room. Once I was ready, I grabbed my phone and earphones, stuffing them into my hoodie and walked back down.

"Good morning! You want something to eat?" Mary asked as I walked into the kitchen for a bottle of water.

I smiled her way, "no, thank you. I'm still full from earlier when Uncle Dave woke me up."

She sighed, "training?"

I grinned, knowing she is going to lecture him later about training me on a school day. "Yup, but don't blame me. He forced me out of bed."

After grabbing my water, I waved at her and met my uncle at the elevator. "You are gonna get an earful from Mary," I sang teasingly.

He groaned, "you freaking evil girl. You ratted me out?"

I chuckled as we walked outbid the elevator, "nope, she guessed it and I just filled her in."

"You are evil. You are evil."

I just continued laughing as we entered his car. Once we reached my school, I got out and waved back towards him.

"Ava!" I turned towards Candice's voice. "You still coming tonight?"

"Of course, I got a dress already," I smiled.

She squealed and tackled me into a hug, "great! I can't wait to see you there!"

I laughed and patted her back, trying not to wince from my still sore body. "Calm down, Candy." I can practically feel her shaking in excitement.

She pulled away and squealed again, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry... It's just that I've never known you to accept an invitation to any parties."

I nodded, smiling gently, "I know. I decided to change that. You gonna head in?"

"Later, I gotta head to my car, I forgot to grab my textbook for chemistry." Her cheerful voice slightly dropped to a grumbled and I grinned, amused, "not a fan of chemistry?"

"Please, I'd rather break my leg than have anything to do with chemistry."

I burst out in laughter, "well, I know you'll survive so don't give up."

She snorted, "Yeah, sure, of course I'll survive a whole hour talking about a subject that I will probably never use in my life."

I shook my head, still laughing, "well, as fun as it is laughing at your misery, I have to check my girls before they think I died or something."

She giggled, "somehow I believe they would actually think that."

"Mhm, no kidding," I waved farewell and walked up the steps to the entrance of school. I sighed. Another long ass day in hell.
