Chapter 229 The You Know What
Part 1
I returned to my room with Sora who had a burn-out and philosophical look on her face.
What we rented was a room for a group of people. Even if I say a room for multiple people, as it is an inn oriented for noblemen, it is different from the rooms where you have to sleep together like those that Treasure Hunters with no money have no choice but to use.
Lucia, who was reading a book in the magnificent living room, looked up, saw us, and opened her eyes.
Her gaze was directed at Sora who was behind me.
âW-Whatâs going on? Who is she? Leader?â (Lucia)
Even if you ask me what was going onâ¦â¦ I donât even know the answer to that question.
I think the best answer is to say that I am not too sure what it is about, but that would be too irresponsible. Although, I wasnât too sure what it was aboutâ¦â¦
I frowned and made a badass expression that I had developed in order to silence Luciaâs protest.
âWell, there are complicated circumstancesâ¦â¦ I am in a bit of a bind myself too.â (Cry)
Sora was completely expressionless. Her eyes were dead.
Apparently, Sora did not want to go home. I wonder if she hates being scolded that muchâ¦â¦ She stubbornly insisted that ãIt is my job to follow âByakko-sama (White Fox)âã so I had to bring her with me.
Sure, I went with Soraâs proposition, but I had no intention of taking care of someone because of it.
I am always getting caught up in things I donât understand, but this feels like the same thing as always.
What should I do? About this. Shouldnât I apologize to the people of the (Temp) Fox Mask Fan Club after all?
âMoh! Again with something that you donât really understand what it is aboutâ¦â¦â (Lucia)
âThatâs right, Lucia. I am counting on you to recharge those Relics.â (Cry)
â!? Moh!â (Lucia)
I threw at her the ãThird Visionã, which was essential when I was wearing the fox mask, and the ãOwlâs Eyeã, which I used when I have to see through the darkness.
Lucia successfully caught them and *girori* glared at me. She didnât say that she will do it, but she will, so it will be fine.
âOh, do I smell trouble!? Who should I cut!?â (Luke)
âWhat? Is it my turn? Who should I punch?â (Liz)
ââ¦â¦ There isnât. There isnât any, for now, so letâs stay calm.â (Cry)
Liz and Luke were *warawara* wiggling towards me.
It seemed like they had too much free time on their hands, but I *shishi* shooed them away. They are the problem child who had been denied to go with Touka even though she always welcomes additional forces.
Sora, who had been hiding in my shadow, opened her eyes, was silent for a while, and then asked in a small voice.
âArenât theyâ¦â¦ I-Is it possibleâ¦â¦ That, âByakko-sama (White Fox)â, you are from ãStrange Grief (Nageki no Borei)ã ?â (Sora)
âAaaah, thatâs right. How did you figure it out?â (Cry)
My name and my face were not that well-known, but it was different for Lucia and the others. Apparently, their names and faces were well-known at the (Temp) Fox Mask Fan Club.
Sora was *butsubutsu* mumbling to herself while *daradara* sweating profusely.
ââ¦â¦â¦â¦ Itâsfine, itâsfine, itâsfine, I didnât betray them. I am a âMiko (Shrine Maiden)â, I am correct. I am correct. I am correct. I am not the one who is wrong. Fox-God, please grant me your blessingâ¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦ I know, this is an undercover operationâ¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦ No, it would never fool them. After all, I am the one who is, correct!â (Sora)
Your conclusion is wrong, you know. I still think honesty is best.
It is fine, there is a saying, danger past and God forgotten. All my experience so far tells me that most things can be manageable.
However, I couldnât help but sympathize with her restlessness. And I shouted loudly.
âSytry, I am sorry, but can you come over here for a minute!â (Cry)
âYes, yes, what is it?â (Sytry)
I called her without knowing if she was there or not, but it seems she was in the bedroom. Sytry appeared in a great mood.
I will show you my Level 8 improv power.
I asked Sytry with a pitiful smile.
âCan I have you assign a safe house for Sora? â¦â¦â¦â¦ Look, it is for the you know what.â (Cry)
â!! Yes, of course! It is for that thing, right!â (Sytry)
Sytry put her hands together and opened her eyes widely.
You can really count on Sytry. I would love for Liz and Luke to learn from her.
After all, itâs gotta be Sytry. I have always been shipping Sytry. She has good chemistry and our personalities are compatible. But I am not gonna marry her, thoâ.
âFor the you know what, I will have you create an Inari Sushi Bento.â (Cry)
ââ¦â¦â¦â¦ I-I seeâ¦â¦ Inari Sushiâ¦â¦?â (Sytry)
âIt is for the you know what.â (Cry)
âFor the you know what, right? The you know whatâ¦â¦ Alright. I will have it ready. When do you need it?â (Sytry)
âRight now.â (Cry)
âRightâ¦â¦ Now!? But the Supreme Martial Arts Festival is just around the cornerâââ (Sytry)
Sytryâs eyes widened even more. You can see the confusion in her pupils. Moreover, this was the first time she came to Cleat.
I badassly raised my shoulders and said.
âWell, this is forâ¦â¦ The you know what, you see.â (Cry)
Sytry was silent for a moment and then nodded accordingly.
ââ¦â¦â¦â¦ I understand. It is for the you know whatâ¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦ I am going to go out for a bit. It might take me a little while before getting back.â (Sytry)
Sytry *patapata* throttled out of the room. We are already in the middle of the nightâ¦â¦ You could have done it tomorrow.
Sora blinked her eyes in confusion. Lucia, who had been watching the exchange as if she were looking at something fishy, looked at me and asked.
âLeaderâ¦â¦ What is the you know what?â (Lucia)
âThatâs of courseââWhen I say the you know what, it is about the you know what.â (Cry)
Even if you ask me what it is, I have no clue about what it is. Because I promise not to ask what it is.
This is my improvisation power. This is howâ¦â¦ Real improv is done, you know.
When I made a big yawn, I took out my smartphone from my pocket and sat down in a *fukafuka* soft chair on which my body would sink.

TL notes:
Thanks for reading!
No wonder everyone is always thinking that Cry knows everything when he always says vague stuff like that!
What do you think âThe you know whatâ can be!?
All bets are open!
Tchao à plus!
Footnotes
Danger past and God forgotten: The Japanese literal translation was âYou will forget how hot it is if it goes deep enough in your throat.â But the English idiom is Danger past and God forgotten which means that in times of trouble people are prone to call on God only to forget about it once the problem is solved.
