Alexia's POV
I was actually home for once, instead of at Mia's or Luna's. I was laid on my bed, cuddled up with Livi, who was asleep by my side, just doing some school for once, when Dad walked in, holding his suitcase.
"I thought you were staying in Atlanta for another couple of days." I say, forcing my voice to be emotionless, so he can't tell what I was thinking.
Because truth was, even though I wanted to hate him, for what he did to me and Mom, he was my dad, you know. He was my dad, who was supposed to play that vital position in my life, dumped my mom and me with a little bit of money. I wanted to not like him so much, but he was supposed to play that important part, and I wanted to act like his kid again.
I've talked with Zach about it, and obviously when I was Mia and Luna, I talked to them about it. They got what I meant, but they don't think that I should forgive him so quickly.
"Yeah.. Your mom and I thought it would be best if I left now." Dad said, sighing and glancing down. I slowly close my laptop, watching the apple logo darken, and I know that it's time to say it.
"I don't think you should have left." I say, forming the words carefully. He looks up, waiting for my next words. "You should never had left your 8 year old daughter and her young mother. Do you have any idea how much my mom works to keep this apartment, and how hard she worked to get herself here?"
"Alex I-" Dad sighs, and I cut him off, not finished.
"It was selfish to leave. And I might complain to my friends how I hate her working so much, but she does it for me. I am so fucking grateful for mom, and it's a shame that I can't say I'm that grateful for you." I finish. Disregarding anything he would have normally said about swearing, he does what I hoped he would do.
"I'm sorry, Alexia." He says. "And if you would let me, and your mom has already agreed to this, I would like to be in your life more."
"Of course." I say, and smile slightly, and his eyes light up a bit, and he smiles back. "You should go catch your flight."
"Of course, have a good time Alexia, and have fun with your boyfriend, Zach or whatever his names is" Dad says, and turns around, walking out of my room.
"Oh Dad-" I say, and he looks back. "It's Alex."
