Seriously?"
"Well she was born from two Alpha's children during a time when the monarchy and council did not exist. When she reached adulthood, she had a greater power than the rest of the Alpha's. All alphas naturally began to follow her lead and the monarchy was born." He paused to let the information sink in.
"She later found her mate and had ten children. Her children, once reaching adulthood, went on to build other kingdoms around the world at the wolves request and their parents built the council. Everyone believed this was the moon goddess will."
I stared at my desk, phone to my ear, in shock. "What does this mean for me?"
"Well, you have about the same power and strength as I do. You have a higher ranking than all wolves. Everywhere you go, you'll naturally command respect of everyone, regardless of ranking. This will be amplified when you reach adulthood. Right now, you only have the power of a normal Alpha."
"Look," I told him, going around my desk and begging to pace. "I'm happy where I'm at with my pack and I love my job. I don't want this to change anything."
"Well, all royal positions have been established, so you don't have any responsibility to the crown. The most that will happen is that you're pack will be number one in racking. Strong Alpha, strong pack."
"So, this really hasn't happened to anyone else?" I questioned him. This all seemed to crazy to actually be true.
"Yes. I know I just told you that we won't act upon it, but the moon goddess paired your parents for a reason. She has a plan and sooner or later it's going to be put into action. Most likely, once you reach adulthood."
I was stunned. "Wow," was all I managed to say.
"I know it's a lot to process, so I'll give you some time. Talk to you later, bye."
"Bye," I muttered. The phone was still up to my ear, even though Matthews had already hung up.
I knock was heard at my door. "Come in."
Zach entered my office and sat on the couch, before looking at me. "Are you okay? You seem off."
I snapped out of my daze and relayed the information to him. He was silent after I told him.
"What are you going to do about it?"
"Nothing," I stated, shaking my head. "The moon goddess has a plan that probably won't go into effect until I'm at least twenty. Considering that's when my strength comes full force."
"And let's not share this information with anyone, okay? For now, it will stay between pack leadership. I'll tell the rest tomorrow."
He nodded in agreement. "I actually came in here to remind you that your date with Elijah is in a couple hours."
I glanced at the clock and jumped from my seat. Zach stood and opened the door for me. "Thanks," I told him rushing out.
I quickly showered and changed into jeans and a blouse. As I finished getting ready, Lio yelled my name. I glanced at the mirror one more time, smoothing out my shirt before heading to the door.
Next to Lio, stood Elijah. He wore a similar outfit to mine, and was sporting a shy smile. "Hey."
"Hi, you're ready to go?" He asked, as he walked over and hugged me.
"Yeah. Let's go." I hugged Lio before walking out the door.
We got into Elijah's car and left the pack borders in the direction of the human town. "Where are we going?"
"It's a surprise."Â He quickly glanced at me, smiling, before turning his attention back to the road. He let one hand go off the steering wheel and moved it in my direction, palm up.
I lace our fingers together, a giddy feeling in my stomach. We're in a comfortable silence the rest of the ride.
Ten minutes later, we're pulling up into the roller skating parking lot. An excited smile crossed my face. "How'd you know?"
He smiled nervously. "I heard from your brother that you really enjoyed roller skating, and I know you couldn't go the other day."
I reached over and hugged him, before opening the car door. "C'mon, hurry!"
I got on the sidewalk and waited for Elijah to get out of the car. I grabbed his hand and pulled him to the double doors. Elijah laughed as he opened the door for me.
The lighting was dim with music playing in the background. There was a huge skating rink in the center. Elijah bought us tickets and we got our skates from the counter.
Finding an empty bench, we sat and laced our skates on. We stood and I led the way. I stepped onto the rink and turned to face Elijah.
He hadn't entered the rink yet and had a small frown on his face as he stared at the wooden floor. "What's wrong?"
He looked at me with a nervous smile. "I don't know how to skate?"
"Didn't you go the other day?"
"I got called away on an emergency."
I stretched my hands out to him, palm up. "Give me your hands," I said, giving him an encouraging smile.
He stared at my hands nervously. "Eli." His eyes met mine. "I got you."
He slowly put his hands on mine and I pulled us onto the edge of the rink. "It's similar to walking," I told him, demonstrating on my skates. He copied my movements, and soon got the hand of it. We went around the rink a couple times, his sole focus on not falling. His hand was wrapped in mine as we skated side by side.
"So you've really never skated before? Not even as a kid?"
He quickly glanced at me before looking at his skates again.
"No, it never really caught my interest."
"Well, thank you"
He frowned in confusion. "For what?"
I grinned at him. "For willing to try it for me."
He stared at me, before he was cut off by falling face first. I tried fighting the smile on my face but soon gave up, and I laughed.
Eli looked up and glared playfully. "I'm glad you find my pain amusing." I laughed louder, offering him my arm.
I pulled him up and led us out of the rink and to one of the booths by the concession area. "Are you alright?"
He gave me a reassuring smile. "I'm fine, just a bruised ego."
"How about I get us some snacks to make you feel better?" I got up before he answered and walked over to the concessions. I ordered nachos for me and a strawberry snow cone for Elijah and brought it back to the table.
"How'd you know?" He asked as he looked at the snow cone.
I raised a brow at him. "You told me yesterday. Give me more credit, will ya?"
He raised both arms and laughed. "I didn't think you'd remember."
I shrugged. "It's the little things."
We ate in silence for a moment. "So, what position did you have at your previous pack?" He asked.
"I was a warrior."
He smiled and leaned back on the booth as he studied me. "Why am I not surprised?"
I shrugged with a small smile. "Who knows."
"So, I think it's time we talked about us. Are you ready for that?" He asked, leaning forward and placing his arms on the table.
"Yes, I am."
"Jacy's rejection hurt and it caused doubt about myself. I eventually got over the doubt and the hurt was replaced by anger." He paused and grabbed my hands.
"But since getting to know you and talking to you in person and through calls and texts, I've found that the anger is gone. I feel absolutely nothing for her." He stopped talking again, rubbing his thumb against my hand. My heart was beginning to pick up it's space at his words.
"You, however have my complete attention. You're everything a mate should be. You've accepted me for who I am and the position I hold. You've shown me how caring you are. I feel completely at ease around you, and that's something I haven't felt in a while." He finished his speech looking at me with a nervous grin.
I had the biggest grin on my face as I said my part. "I could say the same thing to you. Darius rejected me the moment he saw me. And that has been one of the best things to happen to me because it led me to you. You've shown me how a mate should be treated and, honestly, you have passed all on my expectations on the type of mate I want to have." I paused looking at our hands. "You make me want to be a great mate."
He stared at our hands before looking up at me.
"Camila Rodriguez, will you be my girlfriend?"
