I was doing paperwork in my office when all of a sudden my door burst open. Lio came in with a frenzied look in his eyes, and instead of greeting me, he began to pace back and forth.

I watched him for a few moments as his facial expressions changed one after the other. There was joy, confusion, and panic until it finally settled into worry. He sat on the couch, leaned back, and closed his eyes. He took a few moments to take deep breaths.

"I found her." I stayed quiet. "I found my mate, Cami. And she's human." He frowned at the ground and began to play with his fingers.

"That is not uncommon," I stated, trying to figure out the root of his worries.

"That's not the problem. She'd be a human surrounded by werewolves. Werewolves with greater strength and power." He began to tap his foot against the floor.

"You're worried she'd get hurt by our pack members?"

He was quiet for a moment. "I'm scared of hurting her. I'm used to being around werewolves. Werewolves who I don't have to watch my strength around because they are as strong as me."

I stood up and went around my desk to the couch.

"She's your mate. There's no way you'd be able to hurt her. It's genetically ingrained in you. Your wolf and yourself are always going to be on alert when it comes to her."

He thought about what I told him. "Thanks, Cami. I needed to hear that," he said, hugging me. "Now, what happened at your date?"

A smile crossed my face. "Well, he asked me to be his girlfriend."

Lio's eyes widened. "I thought y'all were going to take it slow."

"Our bond grew faster than we expected. We talked a lot in between our dates. I've gotten to know the person he is. He's shown me he's nothing like Darius." I turned to face Lio. "I trust him one hundred percent."

"This was never a human relationship so the timing doesn't surprise me."

I laughed at his comment before changing the topic back to his mate. "So, who's your mate?"

"She's new to the school. When I saw her, I panicked and avoided her completely." He had the audacity to look sheepish as I glared at him.

"Tomorrow, you'll introduce yourself and befriend her, okay?"

Before he could answer, there was a knock on the door and my parents walked in.

"Hey guys, we were looking for y'all," my dad said as they sat in the chairs by my desk.

"You're just in time. Lio has news." I told them. My parents looked at Lio expectantly. He proceeded to tell them what he told me. Which resulted in an angry mother.

She stood up and started pointing her finger. "Cómo que no le dijiste aunque sea hola, Emilio!"

Lío raised his arms in surrender. "Perdón. I panicked."

"Start by being her friend, alright," my dad said.

"That's what Camila said," Lio replied nodding. My dad looked over at me and smiled.

"We actually came over here to ask about what's going on with Alpha Darius," my mother said, changing the topic.

"I talked to the king and he's opening an investigation. As soon as there's a verdict, he'll call me. Until then, his part of the pack is welcome to stay here."

My parents appeared relieved at my answer.

"Camila also has other news," my brother said.

My parents raised their brows at me. "Elijah and I are dating."

My parents broke out into cheers, my mom coming over to hug me.

"Now, I have to go over see the warrior training and work on some school work."

We all left my office and headed down to the training center. "Hello, Alpha!" Zach greeted, walking next to me.

"Morning, Beta," I returned his greeting. "What's in the agenda for today?"

"We're hosting a gathering for our neighboring packs to sign the contract later tonight. All preparations have been taken care of."

"I have a school project to work on with a human. I'm going to the human town after training, but I'll be back to help with the last minute preparations."

We stopped walking when we reached Isa standing in front of a group of warriors. "Morning, Isa."

She turned around and bowed her head, the group of warriors following her lead. Zack and I joined the group of warriors standing in two straight rows.

I spend half of training participating and the second half observing my warriors. They're getting stronger and faster everyday. However, there were still flaws in their techniques. I relayed my observations to Isa, and she focused on correcting them.

After training is over, I call out to the warriors. "Tomorrow, all warriors are to report in the meeting hall at 0800 hours."

"Yes, Alpha," was chorused before everyone was dismissed.

I head into the pack house and grabbed my backpack. "Where are you headed?" Lio asked.

"Human town for a school project." I replied, walking to the door. Lio followed.

"Can I go, please? I'm so bored," he practically whined.

I nodded and we drove out of the pack borders and towards the human town.

We stopped at a coffee shop and entered the cozy place. It had a nice blue theme and a mix of tables and couches. I found Jake on the couch in the corner with a girl next to him.

I heard Lio gasp as he grew rigid.

"She's my mate."
