Chapter 121: Chapter 121 A Campfire Picnic

“Chen Hao?”

When Chen Lin and Li Shihan dropped by along with the others, they spotted Chen Hao as well as Su Ziyue who was standing beside him.

Today was the day that Chen Lin and Li Shihan had promised each other that they would go on a vacation since they would be graduating soon. After all, they would not have the time to do so after entering society as working adults.

Some time ago, they heard from Ding Hao, their high school alumni, describing how beautiful his hometown was and he invited everybody over to hang out.

Since they were free now, they had invited their best friends over to join them on this trip.

However, they did not expect to bump into Chen Hao here.

“Chen Lin, do you know this guy?” several girls asked while frowning.

When they saw Chen Hao’s appearance, they felt that he was an utter disgrace. Furthermore, the girl standing beside him looked to be of lower class than he was.

This made some of the girls pout with disdain.

“Haha, of course we know each other. He was my high school classmate whom I was telling you about yesterday. Haha, trouble really does follow him wherever he goes.” Chen Lin smiled with contempt.

During the previous high school gathering, Chen Lin was very surprised that Chen Hao was actually acquainted with Zhou Ze, who was also known as Young Master Zhou.

Everybody thought that Chen Hao had hit the jackpot.

However, after a multifaceted investigation, they concluded that it was nothing worth fussing about.

That was because they had asked a friend to ask around and they found out that Young Master Zhou had already forgotten about Chen Hao in the blink of an eye.

When somebody asked Young Master Zhou whether he knew Chen Hao or not, he immediately replied that he did not have any idea who this person was.

Haha! Anyway, rumors had it that Young Master Zhou was a whimsical person. He might have taken an interest in Chen Hao that day in the restaurant and that must have been the reason why he acted the way he did.

However, it was indeed terrifying. Those who did not know this would have regretted ridiculing Chen Hao.

Hence, Chen Lin was in a good mood now. In fact, she would feel even better if she could ridicule him a few more times today.

“Chen Hao, is this your girlfriend?” Li Shihan couldn’t help but ask.

However, she gently shook her head following her question.

As the saying went, ‘Birds of the same feather flock together’. A poor guy would naturally find a woman of the same status to be his girlfriend. Judging by their appearances, both of them were just disgraceful.

Li Shihan had the urge to laugh when she recalled that she was once in an ambiguous relationship with him in the past.

“No, she is my best friend,” said Chen Hao casually.

“I’ll say. Although Su Ziyue is poor, she is still pretty good looking. I wouldn't think that she’d be a great match for this poor loser,” Ding Hao chimed in coldly at this moment. It was obvious that he knew Su Ziyue. After all, Su Ziyue’s foster parents stayed in Yun Meng Village.

“Ding Hao, are you acquainted with Su Ziyue?”

“Of course, let me tell you something about her…”

Ding Hao lowered his voice and started whispering something to the girls.

After listening to it, their gazes turned even more disdainful when they looked at her.

Su Ziyue knew that Ding Hao was telling them that she was an orphan and an abandoned child.

Her self-esteem was hurt then, however she could only lower her head and grip the edge of her clothes tightly.

At that moment, Chen Hao grabbed her wrist and told her that he had her back.

“Su Ziyue, let’s go back!”

Chen Hao had enough of his high school classmates.

He did not want to say anything further and decided to leave.

“Oh my, someone is pissed. Please don’t leave. Since you guys are already here, why don’t you help yourself to some free lamb kebabs. You guys have probably not tasted it before right? Haha, since we're currently short-handed, why don’t you guys stay back and help us skewer those meat?” Chen Lin said while sneering.

It was actually a lightbulb moment for her as she thought, Since there were two free laborers here, why not put them to good use?

Chen Hao wanted to ignore them.

“Su Ziyue, how dare you walk away?! Stay back with Chen Hao. Don’t you forget that the repair works done on the road a few years ago would have destroyed your foster parents’ graves if it weren’t for my father. Here I am treating you to a meal and in return, I just need you to help skewer some meat, yet you’re unwilling to do that?” Ding Hao said in a frivolous manner.

He was a reserved person in the past, and in the eyes of others, he was considered a person of lower status.

However, everything was different now. He was a rich second generation heir who inherited his fortune after his family’s home was torn down to make way for new development. Furthermore, his net worth had increased exponentially, and thus, he was currently the center of everybody’s attention.

It was obvious that Ding Hao’s attempt at taking the moral high ground to extort Su Ziyue was really effective.

Su Ziyue stopped in her tracks and whispered, “Chen Hao, why don’t you leave first? I'll stay back to help them skewer the meats.”

Chen Hao had already told Su Ziyue his real identity, and he wanted her to keep it a secret for him, which was why Su Ziyue knew that Chen Hao would never be able to do such menial labor.

Besides, how could Chen Hao be asked to wait upon people like them? Hence, she decided to stay back herself.

On the other hand, when Chen Hao saw that Su Ziyue did not want to leave, he felt embarrassed to leave as well.

Sigh! If they want someone to skewer their meats, then so be it. I could accompany Su Ziyue while I am at it.

Eventually, he made the decision to stay back. He gave Li Zhenguo a call to explain his situation and ask him to go back whenever he was done with his work.

Since they had found some manual help, Ding Hao immediately made a call to order some mutton.

Furthermore, he also ordered somebody to bring over the barbecue stove, a few dozen crates of beer and much more.

The lakeside campfire picnic had officially started.

Chen Hao and Su Ziyue slogged for several hours, only then did they manage to finish skewering all the mutton.

“Here you go. I shall give you 50 sticks of mutton as a reward. Take a small stove to a corner and grill them by yourself.”

Chen Lin tossed Chen Hao a handful of skewers. Then, she went back to the campfire to chat with the others.

Chen Hao couldn’t have asked for more.

However, at this moment, a gasp of shock reverberated through the crowd.

“What? Shihan, you want to break up with Ma Fei? Are you for real?”

“It’s true. In fact, we’ve been quarreling quite frequently these past two days. After giving it some thought, I think we are not suitable for each other. I have decided that I will break up with him tonight. In addition to that, I am embarrassed to say that Ma Fei had always been intimate with other girls.” Li Shihan said in an aggrieved manner.

“Oh my God! He’s such a jerk. He seemed to love you on the surface, but he actually does these things behind your back. How disgusting is that? You have done the right thing by breaking up with him,”

some of the girls responded loudly.

“I second that decision. If Ma Fei was such a jerk, then Shihan was right to break up with him. There still are many good guys in the world and they are far richer and more handsome than him!” said Chen Lin.

Li Shihan straightened her hair while nodding her head.

To be honest, after the high school gathering, when Li Shihan saw Ma Fei’s pathetic attitude in front of Zhou Ze, she had already lost all her love for him.

Haha! She always thought that as long as a guy treated her well and had ambitions, along with a family background that wasn’t too bad, it was enough for her. However, she was just too naive to think that.

Ma Fei was nothing in front of a true rich second generation heir. At most, he would just be an employee.

Take Chen Hao as an example. Just look at him. Even if he was a hardworking and a studious person, what good did it do for him? In the end, he was still another ordinary person.

That was the reason why Li Shihan’s attitude started to change gradually.

“Shihan, I considered you as my friend since this is not the first time we have met each other. So, let me give you a piece of advice, as the saying goes, out with the old, in with the new. We have to look forward to our future,” Ding Hao added at this moment.

Li Shihan lifted her head to look at Ding Hao. Then, she straightened her hair again and nodded her head in agreement. She even gave him a smile to show that she would do her best.

Several astute students who were present at the scene seemed to sense something else.

Apparently, they felt that Li Shihan was slightly attracted to Ding Hao, and Ding Hao obviously had feelings for her. They could see the lovey-dovey gazes the two were exchanging just now.

If you think about it, Ding Hao became a rich second generation heir due to the development project.

Even though Ma Fei was an exceptional person, he still relied on other people to make a living.

Therefore, Ding Hao would still be a better choice than him.

So, how could a person like Chen Lin miss out on this? At that moment, her eyebrows knitted together as the feelings of jealousy washed over her.

Ding Hao was her classmate. And she wasn’t selfish in introducing her male friends to her best friend, Li Shihan as she already had Ma Fei as her boyfriend.

However now, after knowing that Ding Hao had met with some recent windfall, Chen Lin had something else in mind.

But she never expected that despite her carefully planned arrangements, she had unintentionally brought Li Shihan and Ding Hao together. Chen Lin felt depressed because of that.

Just then, Chen Hao decided to come over to get some more skewers for the barbeque.

Since Chen Lin had nowhere else to release her anger, she roared at Chen Hao, “Is eating the only thing you know?! I hope you die of gluttony! You sick moron!”
