“What’s the matter?” Chen Hao asked.

Wu Qian answered, “Are you free tomorrow?”

“Why? I might go grocery shopping tomorrow.” The day after tomorrow was Chen Hao’s birthday. He thought it would not be appropriate to let Aunt Wu pay for the groceries and cooking for his birthday at the same time. So, he was thinking of buying the groceries himself.

“Well, why do you need to go grocery shopping? You’re basically living off my grandparents all these days. Oh yeah, the day after tomorrow is your birthday, isn’t it? I almost forgot about it. Anyway, I’ve some good news for you. Just put everything aside, including grocery shopping. They’re not that important!”

“Are you sure that's good news?” Chen Hao smiled bitterly.

Although Chen Hao and Wu Qian grew up together, their relationship was not a close one. In fact, Wu Qian was quite rude to Chen Hao since childhood. Even now, she still treated Chen Hao poorly. Wu Qian and her siblings would often make fun of him when he was little. Chen Hao used to hold a grudge against them when he was still a little boy. I was thinking about inviting you to join us tomorrow since I haven’t had the opportunity to show you around the city after you came back. Xiao Quan City is now a tourist spot. “Really? Taking me out on a trip?” Xiao Quan City was the place where Yang Minxue stayed. The city was surrounded by mountains and streams of water. The city had a hot spring, which was one of the well-developed tourist sites. Chen Hao thought of visiting the place before, but he was surprised by Wu Qian’s sudden invitation.

“Of course it’s real. So, are you going or what? Lunch will be provided,” Wu Qian said proudly, folding her arms across her chest.

Chen Hao shook his head and said, “Nope. No, thanks. I’m not going!”

“Eh? What?” Wu Qian was surprised by Chen Hao’s refusal. Based on her understanding of Chen Hao, she thought he would appreciate her offer and accept the invitation quickly.

“Qian, has Chen Hao come? Eh? You guys came back? Why didn’t you come in then? Come on, lunch is ready. Come in and have some lunch while we can talk about the progress of the matter.” Uncle Wu came out and invited Chen Hao and Wu Qian into the house for lunch.

However, Wu Qian pulled a face without moving.

“What’s the matter, Qian? Who’s bothering you this time?” Uncle Wu smiled bitterly.

“Who else if it wasn’t Chen Hao?”

“Nonsense, why would he bother you?”

“Yes, he did. I was being nice and invited him on a trip to Xiao Quan City. But he didn’t appreciate it and turned down my invitation!” Wu Qian answered.

“Oh, Chen Hao, if that’s true, then you should go with Qian. She just wants to go on a trip with you.

Besides, there are some wonderful views at the Hot Spring Scenic Zone. You should go and have a look if you’re free.” Uncle Wu did not suspect anything. He just thought his granddaughter had finally come round and decided to make up with Chen Hao. Uncle Wu was glad that they could get along in harmony.

“Alright then, I’ll go tomorrow!” Chen Hao could no longer reject Wu Qian’s invitation after hearing Uncle Wu’s words.

“Humph!” Wu Qian entered the house after rolling her eyes at Chen Hao.

In the afternoon, Chen Hao had to go shop for groceries since he would not have enough time to buy them tomorrow because of the trip.

The next day, early in the morning, Chen Hao was dragged out of the house by Wu Qian. She drove Chen Hao to Xiao Quan City in her father’s Passat.

Chen Hao was sitting at the back of the car. He opened the car window at the back to get some air as he felt a little stuffy in the car. But the window was closed again after it stayed open for a while. Chen Hao realized it was Wu Qian who closed his window.

Damn that girl! He cursed in his heart while continuing his attempt to roll down the window. This time, the window just rolled down a little before Wu Qian closed it again.

“What are you doing?” Chen Hao was speechless with Wu Qian’s behavior.

“I should be the one who asks that! Why are you opening the window when I’m driving in front? What if dirt comes in? Have you ever been in cars before?” Wu Qian mocked Chen Hao.

Wu Qian’s cell phone rang suddenly.

“Yes, Lin Yue. I’m on my way to fetch you, wait for me! I told you last night, didn’t I? I’ve found a helper.

He will carry the baggage for us when we go hiking later. All you need to do is pay attention in pursuing your crush, Yu Qiang. Alright? You ungrateful little gal—”

There was a pause, then she continued, “Right, I’ll see you later. My boyfriend? He’s driving himself.

He’ll arrive soon. Later, we’ll help you in your quest of pursuing Yu Qiang. See you later.” Wu Qian then hung up the phone.

Finally, Chen Hao knew the reason Wu Qian invited him to the trip! “The reason you invited me for the trip is to carry your bags? What the heck!” Chen Hao said in annoyance.

“So? Why are you being so upset? You just need to carry some bags, that’s all. It’s not like you will die or something. Besides, I’ll treat you some lunch for that. What’s there to be afraid about? And let me warn you something, today is a special day for my best friend. Today she will pursue her love interest.

So, you better behave yourself. It’s my best friend and Yu Qiang who shall be in the spotlight today, not us!” Wu Qian said.

Chen Hao was thinking about leaving immediately if he was not already in the car and if it was not Uncle Wu who sent them away and watched them leave the house. But on second thought, it would not be appropriate to leave after he promised Uncle Wu to go with Wu Qian. So, he just remained silent.

Wu Qian looked into the rear-view mirror and smiled triumphantly. “Chen Hao, you seem really mad. I remembered you wouldn’t get mad easily no matter how many things we used to make you carry for us. I know why you are really angry now. Well, I’ve told you since we were in primary school that it’s impossible between us! You shouldn’t think about it anymore!”

Both Wu Qian and Wu Feng received their primary school education in their hometown. They were only transferred to the county when they were in junior high school later.

They were all very young back then. Chen Hao, Li Xiao and Wu Qian went to the same school during that time.

Being the prettiest girl among the students, Wu Qian became the apple of the boys’ eyes in the school.

The boys always competed to pretend as Wu Qian’s husband when they were playing make-believe games back then. Because of this, Li Xiao often scuffled with Chen Hao over Wu Qian. However, these happened in the past when they were all young and innocent.

But until now, Wu Qian still thought Chen Hao had feelings for her. Wu Qian thought Chen Hao would get even more upset if she told him she already had a boyfriend. She thought she understood Chen Hao well.

Chen Hao simply turned his head away and looked at the view outside, not in the mood of conversing with Wu Qian.

Soon, Wu Qian arrived to fetch her best friend, Lin Yue.

Like Wu Qian, Lin Yue was very beautiful too. Chen Hao saw her before when they were in primary school. She grew prettier after not seeing her for such a long time. She was tall and slim with an excellent body figure.

Lin Yue got into the car. She recognized Chen Hao when she glanced at him but did not greet him. Lin Yue passed her bag to Chen Hao straightaway. “Hey, I might need those sunscreen and cosmetics anytime. Be sure to keep those for me during the hike, you got that?”

“Got it!” Chen Hao nodded impatiently.

Later, Wu Qian and Lin Yue were busy chatting away in the car. They mostly talked about Lin Yue and her love interest, Yu Qiang.

Soon, they arrived at the entrance of the Hot Spring Scenic Zone and there were two good-looking guys waiting.
