Chapter 44 Old Mr. Cromwell Is Seriously Ill
William said, âI hadnât achieved such heights when I was treating your sickness back then. Of course, you wouldnât have known.â.
Jonathanâs hopeful eyes shone brightly, âAre you sure you can beat Wyatt?â
âI probably wonât lose, he quipped. He had confidence in his strength and his training. Besides, his Shaylin Dragon Claw Martial Arttechnique was a fierce one. Now that the secondary meridians on his left arm are going to be opened up, beating Wyatt was a piece of cake.
Jonathan was delighted to hear such fantastic news. âIâm so glad I confided in you. I actually came to you for a favor.
William snickered and teased, âYou sly fox. I was wondering why you gave me one and a half million. Now, I know itâs because you need my help.â
Jonathan chuckled sheepishly. âWeâre buddies, right? But, man, Wyatt is good. I wouldnât ask for your help if I knew I could handle it.â
William asked, âDo you have a plan?â
Jonathan answered, âI donât know if it will work. So, I donât really have my hopes up.â
âItâs fine. Letâs hear it.â
âHave you heard of Robert Cromwell from Kreim?â Jonathan asked.
With a shake of his head, William answered, âIâm not familiar with Kreim. Why? Heâs famous?â
Jonathan laughed cheekily. âHeâs not just famous. Heâs a big shot! The third Cromwell son in Robert Cromwellâs family is a Divine Realm Master. Heâs invincible in Justford.â
William was stunned. âThatâs some powerful background!â
âExactly! Robert has recently taken ill, and his four sons are desperate, So, theyâve been looking high and low for renowned doctors. But I heard that the treatments werenât really effective so far,â Jonathan explained.
William instantly understood what he was getting at. âSo, you want me to take a look at him?â
Jonathan nodded. âYes. Honestly, I think Robert is just getting on in years. So, you might not be able to heal him. But I donât have a choice. I still want to give it a try. What if you succeed? I donât want to give up on the slightest bit of hope I have left.â
William thought about it and nodded agreeably. âOkay, Iâll go.â
Jonathan was elated and started thanking him profusely. âThank you, my man!â Then, he hastily handed. over the check to William.
William didnât reject it this time because he knew if he healed Robert, the benefits he would gain from Jonathan would be worth more than just the amount written on the check.
So, he carefully kept it away and said, Iâll be heading back now, Jon. Let me know when youâve made the

After shooting William a look, Jonathan exasperatedly rolled his eyes at him. âHead back where? You and Mia are staying the night at my house. Itâs far better than staying in some hotel.
William gave a quick thought and didnât refuse his suggestion.
So, that night, Jonathan set up a dinner to welcome William and Mia as his guests.
As William was about to fight against Wyatt, he didnât let his guard down and asked Mia to rest early while he focused on opening up the secondary meridians on his left arm.
The following day, he was practicing the Holy Fist of the Five Dragons in the garden for half an hour when Jonathan rushed in and exclaimed, âBrother, weâre set for 9.00AM. Get ready. Weâre leaving soon!â
Jonathan instructed his staff to bring Mia around Kreim Capital while he and William headed to Robertâs house.
The Cromwell Residence was a huge mansion located on a relatively old street in Kreim.
William and Jonathan got down the car, and the driver immediately drove off because it was an open secret that cars werenât allowed to stop before the Cromwell Residence.
William swept his gaze across the scene before him and saw scattered groups of people standing before the houseâs entrance. Some of them even had medical kits. It seemed like they were doctors like William.
He quirked a brow in intrigue. This is quite a crowd.â
Jonathan replied, âOf course. Robert is a prominent man in Kreim. Everyone wants to curry favor with such a man. Even I had to make a lot of sacrifices to get this meeting opportunity through Cromwellâs butler.â
Then, he took out a piece of paper from his pocket. The number 52 was written on it.
At that moment, a young man appeared at the entrance and called out, âNumber 14.
Only then did William understand that the piece of paper was actually a waiting ticket. He couldnât help. but shake his head in disapproval. âCan the patient handle seeing so many doctors at once?â
Jonathan answered, âNot everyone will succeed in meeting Old Mr. Cromwell. There is another round of screening once they enter. You have got to be careful, then.â.
As they were talking, a Bentley arrived, and two people got out of the car. One of them was a middleâaged man, while the other was a young man. William recognized the latter. It was Josh that he met in Stone Gamble Town.
Lastly, an elder came down the car. He was wearing a classic slipâon shoe with his gray hair swept to the back. Josh and the middleâaged man were very respectful of the elder and motioned for him to take the lead.
It seemed like they didnât need to wait in line like the rest and walked directly to the entrance. When they passed by William, Josh suddenly stopped and gave William a side eye before snickering. âItâs such a small world. Is the Cromwell Residence a place where you can come?â
William answered nonchalantly, âI can come if you can.â
Josh was about to mock William further when the dleâaged man called him. Then, the three of them

briskly walked to the entrance, where a butler awaited them.
Jonathan witnessed what happened and asked, âYou know that guy?â
William explained, âJosh Young from the Young Family of Justford.â
âOh, that guy. Theyâre one of the four prestigious families of Justford. He seems to have beef with you.â
William answered, âYes. We had a small conflict.â
Then, they proceeded to wait, and after an hour, it was finally their turn. They passed through the entrance and followed the guide to a courtyard.
A middleâaged man stood there. He had a square face and rather big ears. Still, he exuded an aura of someone born with prestige, which made one naturally turn their eyes away from his unfortunate features. So, when Jonathan saw him, he hastily greeted respectfully, âHello, Mr. Sheldon!â
So, he is the mayor of Justford! William scanned him with his xâray vision and realized that there were injuries on his back. Moreover, his stomach was also not looking too great. Although he looked fine on the outside, his face was also hurt as he had injured his facial nerves.
The middleâaged man gave them a slight nod, âYouâre here, Jonny. Thank you.â
Jonathan rushed to explain. âItâs nothing. How could I not come personally?â Then, he introduced William to Sheldon. âThis is Dr. Barrett, the person Iâve told you about. He was the one who healed me of my pancreatic cancer.
Sheldon cast a dispassionate look at William and asked, âWhere do you work, Dr. Barrett?
He was asking for Williamâs background as not any Tom, Dick, and Harry were qualified to see Robert. Robert wouldnât be able to take the constant checks as well.
However, William merely answered, âJust a wandering doctor.â
Sheldon frowned as displeasure flashed across his face. âAlright. Please have a cup of tea.â
It was apparent that he didnât plan on allowing William entry. Therefore, William would leave after he had the tea.
Jonathan panicked but didnât dare say anything and kept winking at William to do something to salvage the situation.
Suddenly, William asked indifferently, âIs the injury on your back from a gun, Mr. Sheldon?â
Sheldon was shocked. âYou noticed?â
William
However, ignored his question and continued, âIt was probably a knife that sliced through some of your nerves and damaged your spine. So, your back will hurt when it rains.â
Sheldon nodded. âThatâs right. Anything else?â
William answered, âYour stomach problems have probably lasted for more than a decade. Even though youâve tried to take care of it these few years, youâll still get a stomach ache often. Finally, he paused for a moment before he carried on, âAnd your face. Itâs a little stiff because of some issues with your nerves. Itâs not noticeable unless the other party pays attention

Sheldon immediately clapped his hands together. âYou are indeed a miracle doctor. Iâm sorry for being so discourteous earlier. Please come in.â
The three problems in Sheldonâs body were only known by his family. So, for William to accurately pinpoint them meant that he indeed was a doctor of high caliber.
Then, he led them through the courtyard to a secluded part of the house.
A few people were standing before a door. One of them just so happened to be Josh and the older man he had accompanied earlier.
When they saw Sheldon leading William and Jonathan inside, Josh was taken aback. How did he get in?
He stepped forward and asked, Uncle Sheldon, why did you let him in?â
âAre you
you talking about Dr. Barrett?â Sheldon asked for confirmation.
Josh was incredulous. âHeâs a doctor? Uncle, I know this guy. Heâs not a doctor. Heâs just a thug. This person behind me is a real doctor. Heâs Dr. Hamiltona renowned figure in the Chinese medicine scene!â
Sheldon didnât bother explaining himself as he quipped, âIs that so? Then, letâs go in together. In his opinion, people with true capabilities needed no help in defending themselves. Plus, he was certain that William would be able to contribute somewhat.
Josh was elated and followed closely behind him.
However, he still used the opportunity to shoot William a glare and remarked derisively. âYou punk. Youâre a good liar. You even succeeded in cheating your way into Cromwell Residence.
William replied, âPlease be mindful of your words. Iâm invited here by Mr. Sheldon as a doctor.â
Josh sneered before retorting, his every word dripping with mockery, âYou claimed to be a stone gamble expert the last time. Now, youâve become a doctor? What other identities do you have? Letâs hear it.â
William answered, âIn fact, I do. Iâm also a Qi State master.â
Josh would have laughed out loud if he wasnât worried about disturbing Robert and shook his head. âI really donât understand why Tia is into you, you liar.â
At this moment, they entered the room to see an old man lying on an antique bed. He looked almost 80 with thin hair and a kind face.
Beside him were two young men keeping vigil by the bed. They seemed to be the old manâs grandsons. Meanwhile, Robertâs eyes were half closed as if he was about to doze off at any given moment.
A doctor was just done with his inspection and stood up to report to Sheldon, âMr. Sheldon, Old Mr. Cromwell is weak and has excessive heat in his body. Heâll need to eat my medication and recover in three to five days.â
Alas, the shortâhaired young man by the side furrowed his brow and snapped, âAll the other doctors said the same thing. This is the tenth time Iâve heard of your soâcalled diagnosis. None of you are the least bit useful!â
