Airport.
Pei Muchan, wearing a black mask and hat, weaved through the crowd, clad in an off-the-shoulder blouse paired with blue jeans, her collarbone exposed, looking both pure and chic.
It seemed as if someone wanted to strike up a conversation, but noticing that someone up ahead had intercepted her, they quietly looked away.
âPresident Pei,â he waved from a distance.
Pei Muchan held her forehead, moving through the dense web of gazes with an embarrassed look and walked over. She had barely approached before the suitcase in her hand was taken.
âHow was your time at home?â
âNothing special, just barely celebrated Mid-Autumn Festival while hiding at home,â she sighed, âRelations at home have become a bit tense, but nothing was said this time.â
Pei Muchan walked alongside him, on the inside track, and then fell half a step behind, shrinking back. Only when most of the views were blocked did she feel at ease.
âOh, I see,â he nodded.
Xu Qingyan put away the luggage and came around from the trunk. Just as he got in the car, he saw Pei Muchan had already taken off her mask. Revealing a pale face, she leaned back and propped herself up in the passenger seat.
âTired? Why donât you sit in the back?â Xu Qingyan blindly reached for the seat belt, âI can drive slower, you wonât get car sick, and you can rest in the back.â
It wasnât easy to get car sick in the passenger seat, but it was also not conducive to rest.
âNo need, I donât want to move,â she said lazily.
A faint moan escaped her throat. As she talked, her head tilted slightly towards him, her shoulders sagging, her chest rising prominently, exposing herself without any defenses.
âMm, Iâll take you home first,â Xu Qingyan started the car, slowly turning the steering wheel.
âNot going, letâs head to the studio first,â she suddenly spoke.
âWhy?â
âNothing much, just some unfinished work,â Pei Muchan said, her gaze lowered, slowly moving from straight ahead to the left, âJust drop me at the studio.â
âThen Iâll stay at the studio too, I can keep you company,â he said indifferently.
At those words, Pei Muchan tensed up.
âNo need, you do your thing.â
âI donât have much to be busy with besides work, just playing games,â Xu Qingyan seemed unaware of what he had just said, âI can play games anywhere.â
âTodayâs the last day of the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, the studio is empty and quiet, not a single person around.â
âMm, thanks.â
âDonât mention it.â
He slowly pressed the gas pedal, and the engine roared like a beast. The black Audi A8 sped off towards the airport expressway.
Arriving at the studio, Pei Muchan went up first to rest, and Xu Qingyan, carrying the luggage, followed shortly after.
Whoosh, the curtains were drawn open, and at four in the afternoon, there wasnât much sunlight left.
Pei Muchan sat in front of the computer, staring at the startup screen, her head still heavy. She wanted to go home to sleep, but then she glanced at Xu Qingyan fussing with the water dispenser.@@novelbin@@
Somehow, she dismissed the thought.
She lay on the desk feeling the heavy tiredness in her chest, too tired to stay down, so she propped herself up. Her mind was foggy, tired yet restlessly wide awake.
So she simply leaned back in her chair, watching him busy himself, seeing that heâd changed the water, then brewed a cup of hot tea. For some reason, she felt unbearably stifled after staying home for three days.
Back in Xinghai, she suddenly felt relieved, as if an old tree had sprouted new buds, the tender branches and leaves stretching in the wind, making everything pleasant to the eye.
âAh, Iâm going to play a game,â Xu Qingyan said, carrying his hot tea back to his spot, glancing at Pei Muchan, âIâm going to play a game, that wonât bother you, will it?â
âIt wonât,â Pei Muchan shook her head.
âOh, okay. Whatâs the work you havenât finished?â he asked out of curiosity, starting up LOL, ready to play AD top lane while the page loaded.
Pei Muchan found herself at a loss for words, with really no work to do, so she decided to brazen it out.
âForgot.â
âHuh???â Xu Qingyan gave her a curious look, âDo you play games?â
Pei Muchan glanced at him, thinking how he could be so idle. Others hit the jackpot once with luck and would do anything to take on ads and variety shows, grasping at any resources.
But him, saying he was idle, yet he was there in the studio every day.
Talking about being busy⦠he couldnât quite say he was. He seemed to follow his own rhythm: work and then arrange some rest, unhurried, seemingly unconcerned with the typical chase for fame and money.
âNo, I donât know how,â she refused with a shake of her head, her gaze fixed on the computer for a while, only to suddenly discover the computer was stuck on the startup.
On the opposite side, Xu Qingyan seemed to have already entered the game.
Pei Muchan tried restarting several times, but to no avail. Left with no choice, she sought outside help, lifting her head to face Xu Qingyan, engrossed in his game.
âMy computer seems unable to start, can you take a look at it after your game?â
Upon hearing this, Xu Qingyan replied affirmatively.
While still in the champion select screen, he thought for a moment, then typed.
âI really love Poetess, hehe, my boyfriend went to take a shower, Iâm using his account to play a round.â
Two seconds later, a yellow font popped up in the lower-left chat box.
âDamn it, arenât you guys going to lock in?â
âF**k, whereâs the fairy from, geez.â
âDamn, dog bark, Iâll break your knees, whoâs daddy is going to lock in? Dad! Itâs a promotion match, save your dear son.â
With the final five seconds left in the game, someone did lock in, triggering a restart.
Seeing this, he got up and walked over to the opposite desk, ready to help Pei Muchan with her computer.
âItâs over?â
âNot playing anymore, Iâll help you first,â Xu Qingyan answered offhandedly, approaching her and bending down to tinker with the computer.
The two were close together, Xu Qingyan showing no intention to keep a respectful distance. Pei Muchan tensed, her heart racing as she couldnât help but look up at him beside her.
After fiddling for a few minutes, he said.
âThere, itâs fixed.â
The computer was now booting up normally, but he didnât move away, instead, he leaned against the edge of the desk and asked.
