The rain showed no signs of letting up, pouring down relentlessly.
âI have to go back to Changâan tomorrow, I actually donât need a car at all,â Xu Qingyan dodged the unsolvable topic; to him, having a car to drive was enough.
In fact, he could afford to buy one now.
Xu Qingyan himself had minimal material needs, just being alive was enough. Add to that his motherâs unwillingness to leave Qinghe, there werenât many expenses to worry about.
Lin Wanzhouâs âIâll save for youâ left his CPU practically burnt out.
Xu Qingyan carefully considered, telling himself he wasnât the type to live off others. Using his childhood friendâs money to start a business was simply⦠a matter of course.
Pfft, struck by lightning.
But to get back to the point, it wasnât about whether to take the money or not now. Their relationship had reached such a stage that there was no need for pretense of avoidance.
If he really managed to get the company off the ground, how could he not involve Lin Wanzhou?
It just wasnât the time yet, many things were uncertain. He really couldnât spare a moment, probably not until after the New Year would he have the time to sort things out.
However, at the moment, he really didnât have the time to think too much about it. Whether the three of them could turn things around next year would depend on these next two or three months; that was a conversation for later with substantial implications.
âThe rain wonât stop; thereâs not much to do here, letâs go,â Xu Qingyan stood up, âFirst, Iâll take you out to eat, and then this afternoon, take you toâ¦â
Lin Wanzhou didnât have the chance to feel downcast, she looked up at him.
âGo where?â
âThereâs a Sour Plum Music Festival in the next city over, Iâll take you there to check it out,â he held the umbrella over the young lady, leading her into the rain, âQi Ting said youâve always wanted to see the audience perspective at a music festival.â
âTing Ting⦠she talks about everything,â Lin Wanzhou turned her head.
âMaybe we were siblings in a past life, she tells me everything,â Xu Qingyan sighed lightly, âBesides, I gave her a set of Violet figurines.â
Lin Wanzhou: ââ¦â
The two had lunch nearby at noon, and in the afternoon, they drove to another district to go shopping.
The young lady seemed to really enjoy the atmosphere of walking the streets together, even the drizzle from the sky didnât dampen her spirits. Poking two holes in the straw of her milk tea, she laughed, amused at herself.
âBy the way, are the sales for âBlue and White Porcelainâ good?â
âNot sure, I havenât checked yet.â
Xu Qingyan was carrying her bag, holding a cup of iced lemon water in his hand. The pedestrian street was veiled in a mist of rain, the crowd sparse, a staff member at a pig offal noodle shop dozing off at the entrance.
âBut that trending search issue has been resolved, although I donât know how, it should be fine now. âBlue and White Porcelainâ performance⦠should be better than âFragrance of Rice.'â
As evening approached, Xu Qingyan went ahead and bought two raincoats, just in case.
Music festivals can get as chaotic as fighting in Pingâan city, especially at night. Boot covers, rain jackets, water, and a small amount of cash were all standard equipment to avoid a frenzy.
Luckily the weather was clear in the new city. He didnât plan to see the whole show, just to stop by and have fun for a while before leaving, mainly to give Lin Wanzhou a feel for the atmosphere.
He had agreed to take Lin Wanzhou out today, and he also needed to relax himself.
Lin Wanzhou changed her mask in the car, taking out two white masks printed with strawberries from her small bag, and casually handed one to Xu Qingyan.
âThe music festival is too crowded, you should take one tooâ¦â
âOkay,â he didnât hesitate.
The two of them walked towards the music festival site in the distance. A fine drizzle fell from the sky as deafening music thundered ahead.@@novelbin@@
After entering, multicolored raincoats were everywhere and some people used umbrellas. The back row was quite empty, with people standing arms folded, watching, while the front row was a seething crowd.
In the night, the stage lights blazed. Looking up, a massive square black screen displayed the name of the band in big, bright red cursive.
[Cao Nan]
The audience in front were even more frenzied; usually, only those who could endure not drinking water and hold their bladders ventured forward. Once squeezed in, getting out was difficult.
The resounding song exploded in their ears, the sounds of guitar, drums; the world was in an uproar.
Some excited people pulled out flags, which were not allowed to be brought in. It was unclear how they managed it, but the security guards couldnât reach the front row anyway.
The venue was too crowded, Xu Qingyan and Lin Wanzhou held hands, weaving through the throng. Wearing masks, they were unrecognizable, although even without them it would have been fine.
The main issue was the stifling heat of the venue, crammed with people. Fortunately, he had no intention of pushing through to the front.
The stage emitted an orange glow, and the band, playing an unknown song, whipped the crowd into a frenzy, as if possessed.
Xu Qingyan watched nearby people go from critically listening with crossed arms to tapping their feet in rhythm, gradually humming along, and finally letting loose with loud shouting.
From a demure eel to a frenzied one, it reminded him of someone from the past.
Ji Chenâs concert must have been just as explosive.
âHave you heard this song before?â Xu Qingyan pulled Lin Wanzhou in front of him, to prevent her from being jostled by others, and asked loudly near her ear, his voice muffled behind the mask.
âNo,â she was practically pressed up against Xu Qingyan, enveloped by him.
Lin Wanzhouâs face, as white as jade, was covered by the mask, with her skin at the corners of her eyes smooth and slightly flushed, a careful delight twinkling in her eyes.
He stood in the crowd like a pillar, preventing her from being pushed around.
âActually, I donât really like music festivals, itâs too noisy and chaotic here,â Lin Wanzhou tiptoed, covering her mouth with her hand as she leaned in close to talk to him loudly.
The thunderous rock music exploded over and over again, like a cybernetic plough tearing through the field.
