The grand ballroom was decorated with a mixture of elegant gold and silver accents, casting a warm, festive glow on the crowd gathered in celebration of Kim Taehyung's birthday. It was a night of celebration for the CEOâhis success, his achievements, his perfect lifeâbut it felt like a cold prison for Jungkook. Surrounded by laughter and music, Jungkook felt like an outsider, the weight of his secrets pressing down on him, suffocating him slowly.
Jungkook had tried his best to keep a smile on his face, to keep his distance from Taehyung and anyone else who might recognize the turmoil within him. He had learned to live with the ache of unspoken words, but the tension between him and Taehyung was palpable. He wanted to scream, to tell him everything, but fear of rejection, fear of losing everything again, kept him silent.
However, tonight, things were different.
The night had started out normal enough. Jungkook had been helping Taehyung with small details, making sure everything was running smoothly. The birthday celebration was a grand affair, with high-profile clients and colleagues from all corners of the globe. It was everything Taehyung deserved. But as the night wore on, Jungkook felt himself slipping further and further away, overwhelmed by memories he had tried so hard to suppress.
Then it happened.
Mr. Lee, who had somehow found his way into the guest list despite the animosity between him and Jungkook, offered him a drink anonymously a cocktail of bright blue liquid that looked too inviting to resist. Jungkook hesitated, but the strain of the evening was too much. He needed something to numb the pain. Without realizing it, he took the drink.
The alcohol hit his system like fire, mixing with something more sinister that Mr. Lee had slipped into the drink. Jungkook's vision blurred, his thoughts fragmented, and suddenly, everything felt unreal. He stumbled around the room, disoriented, lost in a haze.
Taehyung saw from afar how Jungkook felt so disconnected with everything that was happening and when he saw him drinking and stumbling out of the place he decided to follow him but aht he didn't know was that he was going to get the biggest shock of his life.
He found Jungkook standing in the corridor against the wall and managed to take him inside the room but what surprise him was not when Jungkook hugged him or called him Tae but the question he asked
Jungkook (slurring, his voice loud in the crowded room): "Why did you do that... why did you leave me? Why did you leave us, Tae?"
The room fell silent. Taehyung, standing across the room with a glass of champagne in hand, froze. His heart skipped a beat. "What...?"
Jungkook continued, his words coming out in a tangled mess, as the drug coursed through him, making his emotions run wild.
Jungkook (tears welling in his eyes, voice cracking): "I waited for you... for so long. I thought you were coming back. But you never did. You left me... you left me and our daughter, Hani... alone. You don't even remember... but she's ours, Taehyung. She's your daughter."
The confession echoed through the room like a thunderclap, loud and clear, but it was met with stunned silence.
Taehyung's heart pounded in his chest as he processed the words. His mind reeled, and for a moment, it was like the world stopped moving. The breath caught in his throat, and everything around him blurred into insignificance. Hani? His daughter? The woman he had loved so fiercely, who had left without a word, had carried his child?
Taehyung (his voice barely above a whisper, trembling): "What... What are you saying, Jungkook?"
Jungkook's body was unsteady, and his face was flushed from the alcohol and the emotions spilling over. He took a few steps toward Taehyung, not fully aware of his actions. "I didn't know what to do. I was alone... I had no one. My parents disowned me. You disappeared. I was... I was lost without you."
Taehyung's hands shook as he reached out, pulling Jungkook into him, trying to steady him, though his own heart was racing.
Taehyung (softly, broken): "I didn't know. I didn't know any of this. I didn't remember you. I didn't know I had a daughter... I didn't remember anything."
Jungkook looked up at him, eyes wide with pain and confusion. "You... don't remember? You don't remember our love? Our dreams? The promises we made?" His voice wavered, broken, as if every word he spoke was shattering a part of him.
Taehyung's hands tightened around him, pulling him closer. "I didn't know. I swear, I didn't know. I never meant to hurt you."
Jungkook shook his head, tears now streaming freely down his cheeks. "You don't get it, do you? You didn't just leave me, Taehyung. You left me with everything. With the pregnancy, with a child, with no one to support me. You know they called me with so many bad names. My Hani...My beautiful daughter was called an..ill...illegitimate child by her own grandparents...I was called a disgrace...And I had to carry all of that on my own...because you left... and now you come back into my life, acting like everything is fine, like nothing ever happened!"
The room around them had become a blur of whispers and murmurs. Taehyung's mind raced, trying to piece together the fractured memories that had been buried for so long. He could feel his heart pounding in his chest, the overwhelming weight of Jungkook's words sinking in.he could not process what was right or wrong.
Taehyung (his voice breaking, his hands trembling): "I didn't know, Jungkook. I didn't remember any of it. I swear, I never wanted to hurt you... but if I had known... if I had remembered... maybe things would've been different."
Jungkook pulled away from Taehyung, his head spinning. "You can't just say that, Taehyung. You don't get to say 'if I had known.' You left me, and now I have to carry everythingâHani, my life, everything... alone. Do you know what that feels like?"
Taehyung's heart shattered, his face contorted with the guilt that washed over him. "I'm so sorry." He reached for Jungkook, his hands desperate to hold him, to make things right. "I never meant to hurt you. Never."
Later that night, Taehyung stood in front of his parents, his hands shaking. He needed answers. He needed to know the truth about what had happened. His mother and father sat across from him, their faces pale and tight, as if they had been expecting this moment for years.
"I don't remember Jungkook..My life before all this..... But you did then why didn't you tell me ?" Taehyung said, his voice steady despite the turmoil inside
His mother's face softened, and she looked away, tears gathering in her eyes. "We didn't want you to remember, Taehyung."
Taehyung's eyes widened. "What?"
Taehyung's Mother (softly): "You know were in an accident... and when you woke up, you didn't remember anything. The doctors told us that if we pushed you to remember, there was a risk that you would fall into a coma. So we kept everything from you, Taehyung. We thought it was for the best... for your safety. But we were wrong. We were wrong to keep you from him, to keep you from your daughter."
Taehyung stood frozen, his heart heavy with regret. His whole life had been a lie. Everything he thought he knew about himselfâhis past, his love for Jungkookâhad been stolen from him in the blink of an eye. The pain of those lost years hit him all at once, and his hands clenched into fists.
Taehyung (voice shaking, broken): " It's my fault. I should have known. I should have remembered."
Jungkook, still reeling from theprevious night's events, sat alone in the park, trying to collect himself. The cool air brushed against his skin, but it did nothing to calm the storm inside him. He could feel his heart aching, every beat a reminder of everything he had lost.
Just as he was about to give in to the despair, Taehyung appeared at his side, his eyes filled with raw emotion.
Taehyung (softly): "Jungkook... I know I can't undo the past, but I swear to you, I will make things right. I will do whatever it takes to be there for you and Hani. You're not alone anymore. I'll never let you be alone again."
Jungkook looked up at him, his eyes searching Taehyung's face for any sign of truth. Slowly, cautiously, he nodded. "I... I don't know if I can trust you again, Taehyung. But I want to believe you."
Taehyung reached for him, his touch gentle, his voice low and sincere. "I will earn your trust, Jungkook. And I will love you, both of you, with everything I have."
Jungkook's heart swelled with emotion, and for the first time in years, he felt the spark of hope reignite inside him. Maybe, just maybe, they could rebuild the love they had lost.
