April's POV
I have lunch with Luke later and I still have to attend community work.
"April!" Luke went up to me and greeted me with a kiss.Sometimes I still wonder how we even got together.
"You're still up for lunch? Sterling's coming along.
I thought I'd catch up with her and maybe both of you try to get along."
Right,Sterling.
"Uhh...yeah." I trailed because inside I'm shaking.
Why didn't Luke tell me in the first place? I would have flaked but there's no point either since I'm still meeting Sterling for community work.
"I know you two don't get along but I think if you gave her a shot,she's a really cool person."
I didn't know how to respond so I just nodded.
He place his arms around me and pulls me close as we start walking to our next class.I hope time move slower even though it's not possible.
"So in today's assignment,I will be pairing you up with new partners to switch things up."
I sighed and look out the window.I wonder what's Sterling doing.It's a little weird that Sterling is not in the same school as me anymore,and I kind of missed that.The weird and awkward but yet burning and intensifying tension between us.
Apparently,her twin sister,Blair is.I still think that she hates me because she has this glare that she hates me.
"You alright,babe?" Luke asked,placing a hand on my arm.
"Oh yeah." I replied and give his hand a little squeeze.
Out of context,Mr Issac announced my partner.
"April,you'll be partnering up with Blair."
"Wait,what?" I protest but Mr Issac just ignored me.I took a breath and let it all out.
I look over at Blair who groans and smack her head on the table.Basically how I feel as well.
"Cmon it'll be fun.You and Blair,you're basically getting to know both the sisters on one day."
Yeah,sure,that'll be fun.I was sexually involved with her sister and now I'm supposed to be talking to the other one who hates me.
Luke kissed me on the cheek and left for his partner.
Blair comes over and we start analysing the paper.
"So from what I see,I think you've been involved with my sister and she's left heartbroken."
"Blair,I had to.It's not like I was given a choice."
I faced her and I was guilty of course.
To me,family is everything even if I have to leave my friends and lovers behind.
"Yeah,and she's suffering because of you." Blair fired back.
"Well,at least you have supportive parents.Mine just bailed on me." I stated,with a little play of the victim card but also because it's the truth.
"Look,I don't want to see Sterling get hurt.You being with Luke makes it worse."
"Well..." I couldn't argue because she's right.
I ended our relationship and got together with her ex.It's not the ideal situation.
Both of us didn't talk until the end of the class and Luke comes over with a big goofy smile on his face.
"Ready to go,babe?" He asked and I nodded.
Luke drove us to a diner and waited until Sterling gets here.After a few minutes later,Sterling got here with a cute black skirt and white blouse.She looks really good.
She walks over to us,and she was surprised to see me.
"Hey Luke.I didn't know April was coming." She greeted us and glared at Luke for an explanation.
She didn't know I was coming as well just like I didn't know she was coming until Luke told me.
Luke can sly sometimes but it's never the case.
"Well,yeah.I thought y'all could get to know each other better." Luke explained,looking back and forth at the two of us.
Sterling and I made eye contact before she looks back at Luke.
"Great..." It sounded sarcastic but I just let it go.
All of us went in where we could smell the rich smell of fresh brewed coffee and burgers in the diner.The diner was filled with students,probably because it's lunch time.We looked around for seats and found a booth right at the corner.
I sat with Luke while Sterling sat across the table.A waiter gave us the menu to skim through and I was craving for some cheeseburgers.
"So Luke,how's golf in college?" Sterling started and closed the menu.
"It's pretty great.The guys are really cool and supportive." He chuckled.
"That's great." Sterling reached for his hand and squeeze it,smiling.
"Well,I think so too.It suits him and he's pretty happy.Right,babe?" I commented,touching his arm and interlocking them around mine.
I look at him,tilting my head up and Luke closes the gap and kisses me,softly.
"Yup." He pulls away afterwards and looks back at Sterling,who was now more tensed.I gave Sterling a stern look which made her arched her eyebrows.
Two can play the game.
"Hi,I'm Nancy.What can I get for you?" A short blonde girl with a high ponytail who looks similar to me greeted us.
"Nancy,you look really pretty!" Sterling starts and Nancy smiled shyly.
"Can we get 2 cheeseburgers set and chocolate milkshakes? How about you,Sterling?" He said,clueless on what's going on.
"Same here and ..." Sterling said and whispers something else in Nancy's ear as she looks at me.
She's...flirting.
"Right..away.." Nancy blushed profusely red before walking away.
"So Luke,tell me more about school and stuff." Sterling said and Luke starts to blabber all about it.
This time,we were playing her game.
I couldn't interrupt their conversation at all.
Sterling has got Luke in between her fingers and as his girlfriend,it seemed to be impossible to get his attention now.
"Hey babe,can you pass me those fries?" I asked and Luke passed them on without looking at me.
"So,and this guy just swoops in and I was like wow,you know?" Luke continues and Sterling just nods along enthusiastically.
"So tell me more about you and April..." She trailed,looking at me this time.
"Yeah..we're pretty good and everything is working out just fine." Luke looks at me and pulls me closer.
"So..." She wanted to continue but was interrupted by Luke.
"Sorry,Sterl but I think Luke has a stomachache.I'll bring right back." Luke holds his stomach and got off his seat,groaning.
As soon as Luke goes to the bathroom,my hands grip Sterling's arm and look at her right in the eye.
"What are you doing? Flirting with Luke and Nancy." I said in a stern hushed voice.
"I wanted to catch up with Luke and for Nancy.." She winks at Nancy as she walks by.
"What are you trying to do? Make me jealous?"
"Is it working?" Sterling asked,moving closer.I removed my hand and bit my lip.
I looked around and mumbled 'yeah'.
Luke came back and gave a shy smile.All of us continued talking (mostly Luke and Sterling) while I ate my cheeseburger.
With Sterling looking back and forth at me,it was killing me.It's as though I wanted to kiss her in frustration.
"Are you ready to go babe?" Luke brought me back from my thoughts and nodded.
Luke paid for all of it which was sweet of him.As always.
"So,Sterling,it was nice to catch up with you.I hope we can do this more often."
"Aww Luke,I hope so." She smiles at Luke and I sighed.
"What's wrong,babe?" Luke asked,and I believed I was supposed to sigh silently.
I cleared my throat."Oh nothing."
"Oh,yeah,you have community work.Why don't you go with Sterling there? I have golf practice soon."
Luke is clearly trying push us together which makes me a little mad.
"I see nothing wrong with that." Sterling added.
Well,this is going to be fun.
