The Fairy's Pub
Fyrrah's POV
"Remind me why I agreed to go in the first place." He winced, gray orbs scanning the room flashing with neon lights. Loud cheers were everywhere as well as horny immortals dirty dancing on the dance floor. Wolves, witches, elves and a few demons, celestials, and vampires... you name it, the Fairy's Pub got it. As much as it annoyed me to say, this is the only place where we can fish out for more informations without seeming weird and demanding. Those reckless people who went here won't hesitate to tell you everything, afterall you don't know them, they don't know you and there's only 0.01% chances of you bumping into each other outside the pub. The careful ones would steer clear.
"I hate to say 'I told you so' but I need to." I smirked with a wink. We argued earlier about him insisting to go with me inside. For first timers it's usually bad, very bad, and I don't want him to experience having the loud music beat the hell out of his eardrums. I was almost as good as a deaf for half a day right after I went out of here.
"How the hell can these people endure the damn sound?" He growled lowly, his face screams annoyance and irritation.
"Because they've grown used to it. Anyway, would you like to drink?"
He shook his head while whispering a 'no'. Jet black hair falling freely, some over his face. I was already brushing stray locks behind his ear before I realized what I was doing. The soft strands felt good in my fingers and now that I had a proper look it, his hair was already two inches longer than the first time we met. It suits him though, I thought.
Grays eyes locked on my red ones, the intensity of his stare brought forth a new sense of intimacy and not even the blaring sound from the speakers disturbed our own little world... but a voice did, an oh so annoying one.
"Baby!" The familiar voice heightened my frustration. She looped her arms seductively around Alessio's, purring like a cat in heat. I don't even know if cats go into heat, she just sounds like one.
"Samantha," The alpha king growled. Gently prying her arms off of him but the woman clung to him more tightly like a lizard. Seriously, I need to stop comparing people with animals.
"I know you'll come back to me soon, you left the red-haired girl for good, right?" She chirped happily.
I cleared my throat, effectively shutting her up and she turned to glance at me, "Sorry to interrupt your sweet moment but the red-haired girl is actually right here, not on some planet."
Her eyes narrowed into slits, looking like a cobra ready to attack. Red-coated lips pursed into thin line in anger and hands were placed on her waist. She looked me up and down, smirking when she saw my awful attire before sashaying her hips attractively at Alessio. "You should try their drinks here, babe!" She turned back to him, completely ignoring me.
"Thanks, but no. Me and my girl will be on our way now. We're done here." Alessio grumbled, finally able to pry her off of him. My girl...
"You can't be serious! You're choosing that girl over me?" She whined like a five-year-old being told no.
Alessio smirked, wrapping me in his arms before kissing me on the lips, enough to prove Samantha and everyone else I'm his. "For the record, you're right. I'm choosing this girl over you."
A few of the regulars cheered at the petty argument and display of affection making my face flush in embarrassment. "Caveman." I muttered, glaring at the smug looking Alessio.
"Only for you. C'mon, let's go." We went out of the pub, leaving a stunned Samantha standing there. I led him towards the back entrance where we found a group of she-elves and male wolves celebrating merrily.
"If it's me reading the signs, I think fate favors us right now." I giggled maniacally.
"Fate has no other choices, sweetheart." We both laughed, causing their attention to turn to us. Thankfully the she-elves were younger ones, meaning they were still unfertilized eggs when the news of me 'commiting treason' broke out. The king removed all my photos and paintings of me and banned the statesmen from ever saying my name. Except of course his very special brother at arms. You know who he is.
"Mind if we join you?" Alessio approached them cooly, as if he's been doing this his whole life. Gone was the cocky, a little arrogant and stoic alpha king to everybody. In his place was a boy next door with a killer smile that will make every girl drop their panties and every guy turn away with insecurities. Damn, Alessio. Where have you been all my life?
"Of course not, handsome. You can join anytime." One of the she-elves answered, smittened. I bit back the remark I was about to say. We won't gather any valuable information if I'll let jealousy control me. Did I just say jealousy? I just can't help it, my teeth unconsciously gritted at the sight of the she-elves' dreamy looks while looking at my man.
He was quickly pounced by those hungry feline cats, each trying to catch his attention and when he does they would giggle like a schoolgirl. Tsk, tsk, kids these days.
"I see your man is quite the charmer, isn't he?" A soft male voice spoke from behind me. When I turned to look at him his smile was genuine making me smile also.
"Very," I shook my head in amusement, "Also quite cocky if you know what I mean." I winked making him and the other guys listening laugh. That caught Alessio's attention who was beside me in a flash, rubbing his scent on me with a growl. "See?"
The male wolves shook their head in amusement and understanding. I gently pushed him towards the girls who were all glaring at me. He pecked my cheeks before begrudgingly going back to converse with the she-elves.
"You trust him with those girls?" One of the men ask, "Oh, nevermind. He wouldn't be able to leave you anyway." He laughed. "I'm Caleb, and these are my colleagues - Ares and Berlin." He introduced. So Ares was the blonde with the soft voice earlier while Berlin was the quiet, brown-haired one. They were well built, but in a way normal wolves do. Alessio, and maybe even Tristan and Anthony were abnormally huge.
"What brought the both of you here anyway? You don't seem to be around here, that I'm sure." Berlin finally asked with curiosity and an observation unnoticed by most people. He would be a great general in the future, I thought and mentally reminding myself to ask Alessio about this later.
"We were looking for my sister, other rogue wolves teamed-up with some rebels in our kingdom and took an interest in her. Do you happen to see rogues here often?" I asked quite low. Glancing around to see if anyone's near hearing range.
They looked at me strangely, "And why would I tell you if there's any?" Berlin inquired again, more intrigued.
"Because an information kept is a valuable item wasted. No one would know the information came from you, we would pay you accordingly."
Caleb scoffed, "We don't need your money. Get the hell out of here." His voice sounded furious letting me know they respect themselves too much to embrace prices. A good thing, I must say.
I smiled, "Who says I'm going to pay you with money?"
Their eyes scanned my face, calculating and searching my face with any hint of malice, when they didn't find any Ares was the first one to break the silence.
"There were rogues who went here a week ago with other male elves, dressed in battle suits and they drank merrily. All I heard was 'The Alpha King won't even know what hit him'. I kept it all to myself, but I think they're planning something against the king." His knuckles turned white from clenching and unclenching his fist tightly.
I nodded, processing the new information. "Thank you."
"Last night, some high elf went in town with a high ranked wolf in a pack. I didn't know which pack but his face screams dominance. They were showing everyone a picture, I'm sorry I never had the chance to see it." Caleb was next to speak.
Berlin cleared his throat, "I've heard some news and made some assumptions. Both news were correct, I heard the ranked wolf was a gamma in one of the packs. The high elf was said to be a general. They were looking for a girl, some said a criminal. A colleague of mine who lives in the woods saw them barking orders to some rogue wolves and elves... fire elves like you. I concluded then that maybe one of the packs were working with fire elves against our king. The thing is, I don't know which one."
I smiled in understanding, "How did you know the pack is against the king? What if they're just brainwashed by the elves?"
Ares was the one to answer my question, "Ranked wolves never ever work with rogues."
I pursed my lips in contemplation, I don't know how Alessio would react to this.
"So, what's your end of the bargain for us?" Caleb asked jokingly.
"Be one of my royal guards." Alessio spoke what was actually in my mind. Again, where have you been all my life?
