Kate's pov

-

"I did something bad and I don't know what's going to happen now" I said as I pushed open the door of the diner

"Alright Jamie get the shovel, I'll get the bleach and a tarp so we can bury the body-"

"What? What are you talking about?" I asked the boy

"You didn't kill anyone?" Ethan asked

"Wha- NO. I JUST- I lied about something and now it's coming to haunt me" I groaned

"oh come on, I'm sure what you did isn't as bad as when my dad got caught cheating on his third wife with his fourth wife and the dog-"

"You should really see a therapist" Jamie stated as her eyes flickered over the boy's body

"Yeah... Yeah I should" he pouted

"What happened Kate?" Jamie asked as she slipped into the booth

Ah yes, what happened. I'm sure you must be all so curious to know what bad crimes I have committed

"Remember when Autumn's parents were over?"

"Uh huh" Ethan said as he also slipped into the booth

"And they ended on bad terms when they left Autumn?"

"Bunch of assholes" Jamie groaned

"And we all know Autumn's birthday is coming up?"

"Yep, I've been waiting for it" Ethan grinned

"I... I wanted to do something special but I think I'm about to make it all worse"

"Oh no, Kate what did you do" Jamie mumbled

"Well... Ya see.... I.... "

"She called Autumn's parents. I knew it. Just look at those guilty eyes" Ethan glared

"Wait what!"

"I just wanted to talk to them!"

"Then call their phones!"

"They don't even answer the phone when their own daughter is calling, you really think they're gonna answer me!?"

"She got a point"

"So what exactly happened?" She asked

"I got a hold of their manager from Lisa and he gave them a message"

"What message?"

"That.. I... Wanted.. To.. Sign a contract with their company" I said before squinting my eyes shut, knowing I was going to be yelled at

"KATE WILSON"

"YOU DID WHAT"

"Shhh, keep your voice down before the human Karen hears you!" I hissed

"Isn't she human?"

"Karens are a different breed, they ain't human" Ethan stated

"Oh... Continue" Jamie motioned

"They don't know it's me, they just know that they're meeting here for a business meeting"

"So you're luring Autumn's parents here to do what?"

"Snap some sense into th-"

"WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU"

"She dead. Yeah, she dead. She really said I'm alive but I'm dead"

"They'll be so pissed, oh my God Kate you're deadddd" Jamie groaned

"I know, fuck I know" I groaned

I really should have thought things through but for God sakes, she's turning twenty one and they haven't been to her birthday since she was a fetus. It's just ridiculous and I have to do something, I can't just sit around and watch another year go by when Autumn's hurting. I just.. I can't

"Do you know if they're coming?"

"It's business, ofcourse they'll come"

"Yet they won't even say hi to Autumn while they're back here. Just fucking ridiculous" Jamie scoffed

"Kate, do you want us to stay with you if they do show up?" Ethan questioned

"That's really sweet but I think I should do this alon-"

"oh good cause GOD KNOWS I'M NOT READY TO DIE YET" Ethan laughed

"She dug this hole, she gon die in this hole. Peace out" Jamie snickered

"Amazing friends, all of you" I playfully glared

"We're just kidding hun" Jamie chuckled

"but seriously, are you okay? Especially to talk to them alone?" Ethan asked

"No... But I'll have to. I don't want you two getting into problems if things go south"

"We'll be here... Just, over at the bar" Ethan chuckled

"You say that like they're coming now-"

"Girl don't look behind you cause they right outside" Jamie said

Drained. I felt everything drain inside me until I became nothing but a hallow shell

"What" I whispered

"I'm not even joking. They really did just walk in"

The small bell of the door gave a faint sound and God knows I almost fainted right then and there

"We'll go but call us if you need anything" Ethan whispered before quickly slipping out the booth along with Jamie, making their way towards the bar in a flash, clearly scared of the situation I had to deal with

"It's you?" a deep voice asked

The kind of voice to make me swallow a lump in my throat, there was such a raspyness to it that was almost sinister. The type that only a narrator would have in his own devilish script

A/N

Ouch, am I not a good narrator? :(

"Surely it can't be?" The blonde woman questioned

"It says Wilson"

"There must be another Wilso-"

"No. It's me, I asked to be signed with you" I mumbled, finally finding that confidence

But that confidence seemed to leave in a second when the woman's eyes pierced into mine. There was a mix of forest green and the dark clouds of a stormy day mixed into her eyes, they pricked at my skin as if they poked each pore, just waiting to see my squirm under her gaze

But I was far too experienced with intimidating eyes to give into her little game

"Hmm, well.. Let's get started then" The woman said as she made her way over the booth, knowing I wasn't going to budge

"I have the paperwork here, we can go over each line when you're ready. I assumed you'd have... An.. Agent with you? Or atleast a lawyer?" Haun asked as he joined his wife in the booth

"Oh... She's.. Running late" I lied

"Great, we fly in from Arizona just to be met with someone running late. So typical" Autumn's mother scoffed

"Calm your nerves, I'm sure they had a reason for it" Haun said in an even deeper voice before glaring at the woman

I wouldn't help but furrow my brows at them, he seemed.. Different from the last time I had met him. But then again, we only just sat down

"Whatever, I'm just saying that our time is valuable" She scoffed

"I'm sure it is" he mumbled

"You can read through these in the meantime" he said before sliding the few papers over towards my side of the desk

"T-thank you" I whispered

My feet tapped rapidly under the table while I bit my lip. Those eyes looking anywhere else, just trying to avoid the glares of the two adults

"You're still going through with this?" She asked

"Why not? We came at this way, we could atleast see if she has what it takes to be signed with us" Haun stated

"You've always been soft but lately it's just different. You've gone completely soft on everyone, it's shameful to look at" she spat

"Conducting business with a client is shameful to look at!?"

"The way you conduc-"

"Oh stop talking, sometimes I wish I can stuff a cloth down your mouth so you can shut up for once" Haun hissed

"Maybe if you actually SPOKE FOR ONCE, I WOULDN'T NEED TO YE-"

"OKAY ENOUGH" I hissed

"Excuse me?" the woman asked

"I didn't ask you here to talk about business. Frankly I could care less about your stupid company. I just need to talk to the both of you on the shit you've been doing!" I snapped again

"Little girl, watch your mouth" The woman glared

"The two of you have no idea the amount of damage you've done to your daughter and it's starting to show in Lisa too" I stated

"And who are you to tell me about how to raise my children?"

"YOU DIDN'T RAISE THEM AT ALL. Tell me when was the last time you had a conversation with either of them!?"

"Last wee-"

"One where you didn't insult them!?"

"i-"

"Exactly. The two of you have done nothing. And I mean. Nothing. To contribute to your daughters life that makes them feel good about themselves. You've never been there for either of them especially Autumn. She's turning twenty one years old in a few months and the only time you've seen her is when you arrange a business meeting to make sure you're making money off of her. Aren't you two ashamed of yourselves!?" I hissed again, looking between the two adults

Haun furrowed his brows, there was clearly something going on in his head. I could tell by the veins in his forehead that he was beyond pissed but a familiar pout onto his lips made me know it wasn't just anger. It seems as though Autumn and him had same attitudes

"Parenting is the one job you never quit. Every day is a new chance to get things right, to sow the seeds of love and confidence. You're supposed to guide and nourish, allowing your children to develop into the people they were born to be, not what you placed them into when they were born so you could have more time to work! You help them find what they love, what their talents lead them to. And then, you let go. You feel that anxiety when they try out their "wings," You let them know that their home is still their home if they needed it, and that their parents are still there just as before. They are your children for life and you love for them should be goddamned eternal" I spat

The woman didn't seem phase at all by a word I said, it was simply dissapointing that nothing could get into that hard head of hers just because she was stubborn. How could someone be to cruel? So evil? So careless to another person's emotions

We other brush things off and say, it is what it is but we know damn well we wouldn't enjoy that pain we give others if they gave it to us

"It's your role of parents to be the "rock" for Autumn, but she had to be the rock for herself at age 3. Did you hear me? Age fucking 3. She's been there for herself her entire lifetime and that's something neither of you could ever say. You've missed out on the opportunity to know one of the most amazing and caring persons I've ever met. And yes, I said caring. Because you only see her exterior. Maybe if you took an hour of our her twenty one years of being alive to listen or learn about her, you'd actually find out that she's really fucking sweet and the reason so many people smile everyday. At this point, I can't even look at either of you because you disgust me. You disgust me so much that I can't continue this anymore. So I'm sorry that I wasted your oh so precious time by calling you down here to knock some sense into you, but someone had to. Because this has gone on long enough and someone needs to be the one to call you both out on your bullshit!" I hissed, standing on my feet to face the two adults

Scratch that. They were more like petty children who held a scowl on their faces because things weren't going their way

"But I'm not apologizing for walking out on you right now. The exact same way you walked out on Autumn Hester"
