As I walk towards the door my brain replaying all the words Liam has said, I couldn't get them out of my head at all. About his brother, his aunt, his father and most importantly him. He hid everything in such a way I would have never guessed what his family had been through.
I keep rubbing the strap of my handle as I walk towards my dorm, Liam has dropped me a few minutes ago. He was able to open up to me, yet I feel like I didn't do a good job trying to comfort him.
I should talk to him again maybe, but even when I tried to bring up the topic during our ride back, he ignored it and tried to avoid it as much as possible. I can't force it, I shouldn't force it.
A second later, an arm wraps around mine, bringing me out of my thoughts. I look beside me to see Jasmine smiling at me "so how was the adventure?" She asks, her eyes sparkling with excitement. I chuckle "It was so unexpected but it was fun" I reply as we walk together. She nods and glances at me again, her expressions changed as she steps away from me removing her arm from mine.
"That wasn't the outfit you wore this morning," she points out. I look down realizing that I am still in Liam's clothes. When I look up to her again I find her looking at me with her eyes narrowed.
Now she's gonna assume things
"You guys did something?" She asks, moving closer to my face, her index finger pointing at my nose as if she's threatening me.
Here she goes
"We did nothing!" I replied. But she doesn't seem to believe me, stepping backwards she walks around me in a circle examining me from head to toe. I sigh, shaking my head at her behavior.
"You aren't lying right? You both did Nothing?" She says empathizing the word 'nothing'
"Nope, nothing, seriously" I clarify. She stands in front of me and nods, finally believing me. My eyes fall on her clothes, the long red dress with a long scarf hanging from her shoulder. The long silver earrings, the only jewelry she's wearing. With light makeup and her long hair falling down
"Wow Jasmine, you look gorgeous!" I exclaim, still admiring her beauty. She giggles giving me a twirl as her dress flows with the air "Thanks, my mother sent it to me a while ago. Thought to wear it" she replies with a shy smile.
I nod liking her mother's choice, Jasmine's fashion is really different because of her culture. She doesn't usually wear her traditional outfits but when she does she always makes me go speechless.
Her beauty is something indescribable
"What is this called?" I ask about the name of her outfit, I know about the sarees, suits, Kurtis and also lehengas but this is a bit different from the others. "It's called Anarkali" she replies
"It's beautiful, I want you to wear more of these"
She chuckles wrapping her arm around mine as we start walking again "I will try, and if you like it this much I can ask my mother to send some for you too"
I look at her shocked as we enter the elevator "wait really? Wouldn't that be too much?" I ask nervously. She shakes her head denying it, pressing the button she turns back to me "Not at all, trust me you will look great in these fits" she assures.
We exit the elevator walking towards our dorm, Jasmine opens the door and walks inside first as I follow her. Suddenly she stops making me bump into her back "what happened?" I wince
She sighs in frustration and picks up something from the floor and turns around to face me holding my heels in her hands "How many times did I tell you to keep your heels in place!" She glares at me.
I scratch my head a little confused, I kept all of my things in place then how did it get out?
"Sorry, I guess I forgot" I apologize, taking the heels from her and keeping them near the cupboard. Jasmine hates when things aren't arranged properly or kept in the wrong place.
"I don't understand how you wear these heels" she mutters walking towards her table, her heels tapping on the floor making small noises. This place seems too silent tonight for some reason, my eyes wander around the room with a bit of an unsettling feeling. For some reason the things don't look in their right place.
Jasmine removes her earrings and ties her long hair in a bun, she breathes out in relief. I can't understand how she was able to keep her hair open in this much heat. "Let me freshen up first" she says, I nod as she walks in the bathroom. I am not in that much hurry for it.
A sudden loud scream makes me flinch, without thinking twice I run inside the bathroom knowing it was Jasmine, when I enter noticing my presence she turns around her face pale and beads of sweat on her forehead. I open my mouth to ask when my eyes fall on something red on the walls, Jasmine places her hand on my eyes "don't look" she says, her voice shaky and unstable
I frown trying to remove her hand but she tries her best to prevent my actions and pushes me out of the bathroom. That's when I noticed the horrifying scene. My breath gets caught up in my throat, the bathroom walls are painted in red ink with numerous things scribbled on it
Millers
Die
Daughter of a murderer
You will die
Your family will die
I try to take deep breaths trying to control myself, the whole scene in front of me making it hard to not look. As much as I want to look away somehow I look at it again, my vision getting blurry . Jasmine pushes me away from the bathroom and closes the door shut, my body trembling with each step.
"Stella! Calm down. It's nothing okay? Maybe some stupid prank!" Her words ring in my head but I can't ignore it. Someone wants me dead? They want my family to die?
"Stella please" Jasmine's voice cracks as she tries to calm me down. Her hands holding my arms rubbing them.
I am fine
Nothing's happening
I am safe
Liam
Where's he?
I need him
Please
"Wait just a minute" Jasmine runs towards the table and pours a glass of water. I keep looking in her direction to distract myself, my hand gripping on my t-shirt almost ripping it. My heart racing so fast that I could feel it against my chest, I closed my eyes taking deep breaths. After I find myself better I open my eyes to see Jasmine in front of me holding the glass of water.
Her face gone smaller, the fear in her eyes perfectly visible, she forwards me the glass with trembling hands. My fingers are brushing against hers, that's when I realize her cold hands. "What-" she shakes her head quickly telling me not to speak
My grip tightens around the glass, Jasmine grabs one of my hands and looks at me. Her eyes filled with concern, the uneasiness radiating off her body. "Stella" she says, her voice barely coming out as a whisper "There's someone in the room"
A shiver runs down my spine at her words, I try to pull my hand but she keeps clenching on it "Don't react, please" she pleads. Her eyes wandered around the room. I gulp down the lump in my throat, my mouth feeling dry. I had water in my hand but I couldn't make myself drink it.
Who is here?
I slowly raise my eyes trying to search, my whole body goes numb when I realize a shadow falling near the window curtains. I am just opposite to it a few steps away whereas Jasmine's back facing the window. I try not to react and put my gaze lower. I grab my phone from the pant's pocket, the only person who comes to my mind in this situation is Liam.
Jasmine takes the glass away from me so that I can text him. As I try to unlock my phone it takes time due to my shaky hands. Quickly I open my messages and text Liam
Liam:
help us-
Please come fast
The light goes off, the darkness surrounding both of us. My phone drops down and I hear Jasmine yelp in pain making me jerk "Jasmine are you ok-" my words get muffled by a hand on my mouth. My eyes widened finding myself in someone's crushing grip, an arm around my neck choking me from behind. His hand covering my mouth preventing me from speaking
Oh God
My breathing gets heavy, I try to pull away from him but I can't. It hurts-
Tears start flowing down my cheek when he puts more pressure making me groan, the air in my lungs getting cut off
A loud crashing sound hits my ear and I am suddenly free from the trap. The man behind me screams for some reason but it's too dark to even recognise who that person is.I choke out on air, finally getting some release, I feel fingers wrapping around my wrist pulling me to a direction. "Run!" Jasmine says
She leads the way as I keep holding her hand in a tight grip, the darkness blocking out our vision. As the door opens we are greeted with more darkness, even the corridor lights are cut off. Jasmine curses, releasing my hand and she closes the door behind.
I quickly run towards the elevator and press the button but it doesn't operate. I keep pressing it aggressively but there's no response, the elevator still has power but why isn't it working.
A clicking sound makes me freeze
That guy is coming
"Leave it!" Jasmine yells, grabbing my arm and pulling me towards the staircase. As we start running downstairs I hear the door opening behind us, I don't dare to look back. Not taking one but two, three steps at the same time. When we climb down a floor I notice that the other floor lights are also on but why-
Why is there no one here!
Jasmine is a few steps ahead of me but her walk is unstable due to the heels yet she tries her best to get down.
We finally reach the ground floor but there's no one at the reception. Ignoring everything we both run towards the door, Jasmine pulls the handle with full force but it doesn't open. She looks at me with an horrified expression,I step forward to try it myself but there's no use
"It's locked" I say, Jasmine keeps looking around for someone. The slow footsteps suddenly get louder. I can feel my soul leaving my body at this point feeling trapped and helpless. "The emergency exit!" Jasmine reminds.
We both rushed towards the backdoor of the building, luckily it was open and we were able to get out. Yet we don't stop and keep running to find a safe place. Jasmine keeps running despite the pain in her feet, we reach the parking area of our dorm and my car. I didn't have my phone nor keys
Upon reaching, my legs give up and my knees hit the ground, I lean against the car trying to calm down. My whole body is burning up, the painful sensation around my neck is still lingering, making me itchy.
Jasmine crouches down beside me and pulls me into a hug, her arms around me like a protective shield, she doesn't speak. I could sense her rapid breathing and racing heart. This is scary for both of us. The storm of emotions running through my head spinning the world around me. We stay there hidden between the cars until someone finds us
"Sir, it might have been a prank or something" the guy tries to justify this whole situation, raising my anger even further. I grip on the edges of the table and get up "I will also break your face and name it as a Fucking prank!" I warn, my voice dripping with sarcasm but if needed I won't think twice to actually hit him
"Sir, please calm down. We can't do anything! There's no proof here!" The lady beside him says. I pinch the bridge of my nose with the increasing headache.
When I received Stella's message I knew something happened, I didn't think this-
When I got here it took me a few minutes to find Stella and Jasmine hiding near the cars, both of them scared. I felt my world slipping away when I saw her face, red eyes, tear stained cheeks and those marks around her neck.
He broke into her dorm
Hurted her
And even tried to-
I groan in frustration, I can't even think about that word. He tried to harm her as much as possible. Luckily, both of them escaped and were safe . It took me half an hour to calm her down, Stella was shaking but she didn't drop a single tear and it made me even more worried that she was building it up inside her instead of letting it out . Both Jasmine and I were there with her yet it wasn't helping.
Jasmine has collected herself well and kept her emotions stable
After she was better I decided to go to the management but it was already late at night and there was no one except these two assistants. Both of them were shocked when I explained the whole situation but when they looked through the CCTV cameras there was no one.
Not even a single person entering or exiting the building and what's more unexpected is that there's no footage of Stella and Jasmine entering or exiting the building. In this 30 minutes of time that guy was able to clear out all the evidence from the CCTV to the vandalized walls in their room
But how
Who is that guy that could do all of this?
Especially with the security system
"Then try to find it, they were attached and it's not a joke. It could happen with others too!" I slam my hand against the table both of them flinch at my actions
"You need to understand we cannot take any action with evidence. So please, you are requested to leave. It's already getting late" the lady assistant says. I sigh, getting up from the chair and walking out of the office. There's no use of talking to them, even I know that without an actual proof we cannot do anything
Not the management
Not the cops
I grab two water bottles which were in the office on my way out. Stella and Jasmine are seated in the waiting area, Jasmine still rubbing her back and comforting her. Noticing my presence Jasmine looks up and I pass her a bottle. I glance at Stella, her foot tapping against the ground anxiously. I kneel in front of her and place my palm on her lap to prevent her from doing that. Her eyes meet mine, the uneasiness still lingering on her face but she looks a bit more composed than before
I open the water bottle and pass it to her, her trembling hands grips on the bottle as she takes small sips
"What did they say?" Jasmine questions drinking the water. I take Stella's hand in mine, rubbing my thumb across her knuckles gently. "They can't take any action due to lack of evidence" I reply
Jasmine scoffs keeping the water bottle aside, "Inko toh Mai dekh thi hoon" she says getting up from her chair. I couldn't understand what she said but with her actions I can tell that she's about to confront them. I stand up stopping her "Don't, I will come back here tomorrow to investigate more. Till the what's more important is to keep you both safe" I say trying to stop her with a valid reason
She looks at Stella and sighs, she is worried for her as much as I am.
"Until this is clear you are staying with me, alright?" I announce, Stella looks up at me with a surprised expression "But-" as she was about to speak Jasmine cuts her off "No buts Stella. This was really dangerous and we don't even know who did it. So it's better you stay with Liam. It's more safe" Jasmine says to her with a serious tone
Finally Stella agrees to it without resisting much. I need to find out about this sooner before things get out of my hands. But right now I am focusing on their safety before anything else.
"Even you Jasmine, you shouldn't stay here" I say to her. She nods in agreement "I know, I will stay in some hotel or something till then I guess"
I shake my head "I have arranged something, pack your bags" I explain but not fully yet. Because if I say further Jasmine might turn her back even before he comes. It's better to keep my mouth shut.
The three of us go back to their dorm, Jasmine and Stella quickly pack their bags with the necessary things. The other students seem to have already gone to bed.
This guy was able to get past their room, play with the security system and clear out all the evidence at once. I don't think he's someone normal but I am sure he has some connections to do all this.
All of this is making me go crazy.
I gotta find him soon.
As I was occupied in my own thoughts, Jasmine and Stella came back holding their bags and stuff. I help Stella get her things in my car and turn back to Jasmine "You are staying at my home" I inform making her eyes widened in shock "Sorry what? Your home?" She repeats my words
I nod
She shakes her head continuously "You must be kidding, I am not staying with you both being kabab mein haddi"
[Translation: A slang to say 'being a thrid wheel']
Wait-
Did she think I was talking about my apartment?
I frown upon her remakes, shrugging off the last sentence she said. "I don't mean with us in my apartment. I meant my home with my family" I clarify. She nods but upon realizing my words her head snaps in my direction "Your family?" She almost yells
"Look, that's the best option, I don't think you should stay somewhere else. My home is safe plus my family is there to accompany you" I try to convince her but she doesn't seem to change her decision. I sigh rubbing my forehead
A headlight flashes in our direction and a car drives through the pathway and stops near us. The door opens and Lucas steps out of the car with a serious expression, walking towards us.
Jasmine gasps and points her finger at me "How dare you!" She threatens. Lucas steps forward "Be quick I don't have time" he says in a cold tone. Totally unwelcoming
"I am not going with This Thing" Jasmine points out as if my brother isn't a human. "I have explained the situation already, so please for a while put your differences aside and cooperate with each other" I exclaim. While they were gathering the stuff I called my Aunt informing her about the whole thing.
Aunt Lia understood everything and suggested sending Jasmine over to our home. Because it would be awkward for her to stay with us. Somehow even Lucas agreed and came to pick her up, but i know he wasn't convinced but forced to do this
"Please Jasmine, it's for your safety" after a long silence Stella speaks. It gives me some relief to find her looking stable and calm. Stella steps forward and says something to Jasmine that we both can't hear. Jasmine sighs but there's still annoyance plastered on her face "Fine!" She grunts.
"You owe me one," Lucas whispers to me. "Yeah got it, now go" I ordered. He rolls his eyes and gestures to Jasmine to follow him, he walks towards the car first. Jasmine gives Stella a tight hug mumbling something to her before leaving, she passes me a death glare. A sign of warning followed Lucas towards the car.
Suddenly she stops and turns back, Jasmine strides towards me "What happened?" I ask, confused by her action. She looks behind me as if making sure Stella isn't listening "I think there wasn't one person but two" she whispers
I frown "what do you mean?"
"I think there were two people in the building, The elevator was working fine but when we were trying to escape it was stuck and now it's working fine. The lights on every floor were switched on but ours weren't. The front door, which is always open, was closed. And how can someone clean up all that? I feel like there were two people here Liam" she blurs out
My expression tensed up listening to her, her words are right. There's no way a person can do all that alone and the lights and elevator are too much to be a coincidence. "You sure?" I ask
She presses her lips together and nods "yeah, Please take care of Stella '' she requests. Stella comes closer to us and I change my expressions to a normal one. "Quick!" Lucas yells. Jasmine rolls her eyes and turns her heels to walk away.
Stella has two stalkers who are working together
Stella stands beside me with a bit of worry in her eyes as she watches her best friend "They will be alright?" She asks, "with their past history I doubt they will be calm but I can assure that she is safe"
I take her hand in mine and kiss her knuckles softly "Wanna go home now?" I ask, my voice soft and low placing her hand on my chest. She slowly smiles "yeah"
ââ â ââ Jasmine's pov
I hate him
I mean I seriously serious wala hate him
[Translation: Serious type of hate him]
He's an annoying, arrogant, selfish and cold sophisticated jerk.
I have a good reason for it, yes I do!
The first day of my university, in Sydney Australia. Far away from my home and people. I knew no one here, not a single soul. I quickly walked inside the classroom and sat at a random seat. The whole class was Empty because I arrived 2 hours before.
As the class started to fill, a random 6 feet 2 inches guy came up to me and asked me to move because it's his seat. When I asked for proof in a sarcastic way of course. He showed me the cap he kept on the desk as a mark. That's when I knew I had to stay away from him
Him as in Lucas Williams
The topper of our class
Also known as Fox
Our second encounter was a bigger disaster, he threw a chocolate cake at me ruining my outfit. I had to go to the interview in a designer dress which was too extravagant because the CEO'S daughter runs a clothing brand which is competing against NYX.
I was humiliated in front of everyone for wearing such an expensive dress for an interview as an intern. Also for me having the audacity to wear it in front of them.
Then for revenge I threw lemonade at him, but I got to know afterwards that he was selected to give a seminar that day and because of me he had to slip out. I was guilty, like seriously. I knew how it felt to back off the last moment, when I wanted to apologize but he did something too
He kicked me out of the group project and the professor cut off my marks that too in the first ever project of the semester and I got a D. After that I never, I repeat NEVER talked to him until he decided to ruin the starting of my love story
At the Halloween party when I met a guy from the medical department who was dressed up as Aladdin. He seemed like a good match for me, yet this guy ruined it and pushed him in the fountain. Since then I have never seen that guy again.
Was I going to let it slide?
No way
Not in a million years
In my house, we have been told to always return the things that the other person gave and I did! Buying lipsticks worth of hundreds of dollars and showing my artwork. His car is my beautiful canvas.
His reaction?
I.C.O.N.IC
Truly Iconic
The first time in months I saw him furious and angry as if he would explode and the satisfaction I got was over the moon. Good times
But he didn't do anything
Yet
Now I gotta live with him? Under the same roof?
Bacha Lena upar wale
[Translation: Save me, oh lord]
I take caution steps towards his car, it's the same one which I ruined a while ago but it's already cleaned. Not even the slightest mark of lipstick. My heels tapping on the road with each step, my fingers gripping on my bag which has all my necessary things. The edge of my dupatta wrapped around my hand.
Lucas stands there still, in his signature clothes black jeans and white button up shirt. I swear I have never seen him in any other color other than black, blue and white. What's the point of being rich when he lives in black and white?
I open the back door and place my bags inside as I was about to sit inside he interrupts me "Do I look like your driver? Sit in front!" He orders, his voice rough and cold. Rolling my eyes I close the door and walk around to the passenger seat but don't open it yet
Lucas is already seated inside ready to start the car when he sees me, his eyebrows join together in confusion. He looks at me with those eyes "what now?"
I cross my arms and stand near the passenger door with a forced smile "If you are so interested in making me a passenger princess. Then open the door for me" I demand. If he wants me to sit here he has to put some effort right?
Did he think I would just listen to what he said without complaining?
His jaw clenches, I know that expression. He is annoyed but he can't do anything about it. Glaring at me he steps out and walks towards me, he opens the door for me with a forced smile.
A feeling of satisfaction takes over me and I smile, this time a genuine one. Not for him but for myself, I sit inside the car making sure my dress and dupatta are not getting stuck. Lucas sighs and closes the door and gets inside. He starts driving by saying anything.
The Australian summer was really irritating, maybe because I am not used to it. All the windows are up and the AC is on too yet I feel hot. Especially with my long hair, it's really hard to manage.
As the car is filled with an awkward silence, my mind gets diverted to the incidents that happened a while ago. Someone who tried to hurt Stella and with the whole situation I knew it somehow involved her family too. If she is with Liam I know she will be alright but I am still worried. Joining my hands together i close my eyes keeping my head low
Just keep her safe my lord
After a drive of 10 minutes the car stops, I glance at Lucas who unbuckles his seatbelt and steps out without saying a word. I also unbuckle my seatbelt, my hand grips the handle to push the door open but Lucas does it first.
My eyes widened in surprise at his gesture. Maybe he took my passenger princess joke too seriously? Shrugging my shoulders I step out and look at him with a narrowed gaze trying to read his expression "maybe you do have some gentleman tendencies" I comment with a hidden sarcasm. I remove my clip letting my hair down to set them a little and fix my dupatta
Lucas stands in the same position, I roll my eyes and step forward towards his house when I hear a slamming sound. My reflexes act up and I pause "wrong, I don't have any of those tendencies" he whispered in my ear and casually walked away.
I turn my head to witness the thing I fear the most. That fox closed the car door with my dupatta stuck in it! That jerk! I groan in frustration trying to pull out the delicate fabric, but applying more force will lead to tearing if. And he even locked his car leaving me outside stuck to his car.
"Ek din is lomdi ka sar phodna hai mujhe!" I promise myself.
[Translation: I wanna break this fox's head one day]
After a few minutes of thinking, I came to the conclusion to leave it here. I removed the safety pin from the shoulder of my dress which held my dupatta in place. Once I was free I took the edge of the dupatta and put it on his car top so it doesn't get dirt
Now time to take care of him
I stride towards the door with large steps, I raise my hand to knock on the door when suddenly it opens and a middle aged woman appears in front of me. I drop my hand quickly and give her an awkward smile trying to change my furious expressions.
"Namaste aunty" I greet her, I bite my tongue upon realizing that this isn't my country "I am sorry, I mean hello" I pause, no that's too friendly "I mean Good evening?"
She laughs at my flab rested state "Namaste, Hello and good evening my dear" she says with a smile. I look at her in surprise at how fluently she said namaste despite her Australian accent. Because half of their words get over my head due to that thick accent. Even water sounds like wada to me
"I have been to India a few times so I know your culture a little," she explains. A small smile forms on my face. "I am Amelia Carter, Liam's aunt if you know?"
I nod
"Liam has explained to me about what happened. And don't worry dear you are safe here, make yourself at home" She says with a gentle tap on my arm. I take a deep breath relaxing myself. "Thank you ma'am"
"Oh no don't call me ma'am and all Amelia is just fine. But where's your luggage?" She asks, glancing here and there. I laugh awkwardly trying to come up with something.
How am I supposed to say that her good for nothing nephew locked my stuff in his car?
"It's in the car, i will bring it" I say and turn to walk back but she stops me "No no, you stay lucas will bring it" she turns a little and calls him out. Lucas appears behind her "but that's her stuff" he tries to avoid the work. "And she is our guest. So bring in her things" His aunt commands but her voice is gentle as before.
He sighs "Yes, Aunt lia" he says obediently walking past me giving me a glare, I smirk proudly at him.
She takes me inside the house showing me around a little, Lucas's mom is not at home because of a business trip. Liam stays at his apartment and Mia, their younger sister stays on the first floor. Lucas's room is also there.
Amelia shows me the guest room, the most luxurious yet comfortable. With all the necessary items which I couldn't bring. "If you need anything feel free to tell me. You should rest now" she says
"Thank you so much" I say with a warm smile.
"No problem dear, Rest well" she says before leaving me in the room. I sigh and lay on the bed, the soft mattress dipping with my weight as I was about to close my eyes. A knock on the door makes me sit up. I quickly run my hands through my messy hair and get up to open the door.
Lucas stands there with an emotionless face, he puts my bags near my feet and extends my dupatta which he was holding. As I lift my hand to receive it, his expression shifts to a dealer one. With a swift motion he grabs my right wrist in a firm yet gentle grip
"What are you doing?" I ask trying to free my hand
"Who did this?" He asks, with a deep and serious tone, his gaze boring into mine. For the first time I felt a weird sensation due to him . He glances back at my wrist. He was holding my eyes following his.
Red
Blood
I pull my hand from his grip and touch the blood which covers a part of my thumb and wrist. I gasp, yeh kab hua?
Oh
When the lights went off and that intruder caught Stella. I hit him with the glass, it was too dark so I don't know where I hit. I aimed for his back maybe the shattered piece made the cut, but I don't feel any pain
Gently rubbing it, I sigh in relief realizing that it's dry blood which might have gotten on me when I pushed that guy away.
"It's nothing" I say to lucas
For a few seconds he keeps staring at my hand as if he was making sure the blood isn't mine. "Wash it off" saying this he leaves
Ab isse kya hua?
