She was in a bit of a bad mood right now. Earlier, when she was testing, a bug had emerged in the functionality, and in her frustration, she would subconsciously tug at her hair, a habit she had developed since joining the company.
Brian looked down at her from above. From his vantage point, he could see the top of her head, which appeared to be suffering from significant hair loss.
He could tell she was very troubled and was probably trying to resolve the issue quickly, hence her intense focus on the computer.
Suddenly, the computer screen went black.
Graceâs eyes widened in surprise, thinking there was a problem with the computer, and she panicked. âMy computer!â
âI turned off the screen. Deal with it tomorrow,â he said.
Grace let out a sigh of relief and, after glancing at him, turned the computer back on. âDonât worry about me. Iâm not leaving until I get this program fixed.â
âDo you really want to go bald?â Brian asked coolly.
Hearing his words, Grace was taken aback and subconsciously touched the top of her head. âAm I really balding?â
âWhat do you think?â
No woman wanted to become bald, and Grace was no exception. His words successfully prompted her to turn off the computer herself.
She was aware that she had been experiencing significant hair loss, especially after giving birth, as she entered the postpartum period of hair loss.
However, she hadnât paid much attention to the top of her head, but now, upon touching it, it did feel rather sparse...
âThere are still five days until the anniversary celebration. Take your time,â he said.
âBut Erin said I need to give it to you the day after tomorrow.â
Brianâs eyebrows furrowed. âI never said that. You can continue working overtime if you want to.â
Grace was left speechless.
Brian looked at her for a moment. âHave you eaten?â
His tone was calm, and for once, he was not speaking to her with sarcasm.
âI have,â she replied.
âHow about I take you to a place?â he asked.
Grace looked at him in surprise. âWhat for?â
âTo get a scalp treatment. Itâs good for hair growth,â he said.
Grace was quite tempted, but after a momentâs thought, she declined. âNo need, thank you for your kindness. I can go by myself another day.â
Brianâs expression darkened. To him, it seemed like she was rejecting his company, not wanting to be seen with him.

âMr. Francis, you are engaged, and I have a special status. Itâs better if we keep our distance.â

Brian raised an eyebrow and retorted. âWhatâs wrong with a boss treating an employee to a scalp massage? Is there anything inappropriate about that?â

She kept referring to his fiancée and addressing him as Mr. Francis, which inexplicably irked him.
âLouise isnât that petty,â he said.
Grace frowned slightly, looking at him. He truly had blind faith in Louise.
For a moment, she really wanted to tell Brian about the misdeeds Louise had committed, but she swallowed the words before they could escape her throat.
They were about to get married, and breaking up a marriage was immoral. Moreover, even if she told Brian, with his trust in Louise, he wouldnât believe her.
As these thoughts raced through Graceâs mind, Brian had already forcefully taken her wrist and was leading her toward the door.
âLet go of me!â she protested.
âWhat are you afraid of? Thereâs no one here to see us.â
Once inside the elevator, Grace took a deep breath and said to him, âMr. Francis, I really donât have time for luxuries. I have a child, and itâs so late.
My daughter needs me to put her to sleep.â
Brian chose to ignore her words. Although her daughter was very cute, the thought that she wasnât his own child irked him.
