I found Ian and Leandra not too far from the crowd that had gathered for mine and Bertoâs fight. âWhere is their camp? My dad will be here in about four hours, so if youâre going to come with us, I need to go get your sister.â
She furrowed her brow, âFrom here? I donât know. Iâm not sure what direction we flew in after you guys grabbed me.â
âCould you do a spell to locate your sister?â
âI think I could. Iâve never done one before, but itâs worth a shot.â She raised her wrists, âThese have to come off though.â
I nodded and bent her wrists free of the irons, âHow long until you know something?â
âHopefully not too long, but like I said I havenât completed this type of spell before,â she said.
I looked at Ian, âLet me know as soon as you guys know something. Ian get her anything she needs, within reason,â he nodded and they got to work on the spell. I sought out Mucamutara, âDaniel said it will be about four hours before he gets here.â
âYou will at least stay the night then,â she stated, âI will get started on beds and other sleeping arrangements.â
I nodded my thanks, âIâm going to go question the hunter, if thatâs still okay with you.â
âOf course. Please-what is it you say-keep me in the circle?â
I smiled, âClose. âKeep me in the loop.ââ
She smiled and waved her hands, âLoop, circle, are they not the same?â She asked before walking to a few of her clan members.
I walked down into the cells, âYour Majesty,â the guards bow slightly.
âThe hunter?â I asked with a raised brow. They led me to his cell, âThank you,â I said to them as they walked back to their post.
âWhat do you want, filth?â the hunter asked.
âHow did you end up in Venezuela?â I asked, sitting on the floor across from his cell.
âLike I would tell you anything, filth.â
âWhatâs your position with the Northcott Hunters?â I sat in silence waiting, before smirking, âCome on. Are you not proud of your position with the hunters?â
He snorted, âYeah I am, but that doesnât mean Iâm going to tell you.â
âWhy?â
He gave me a questioning look, âI-we-I donât have to tell you anything, filth.â
âSo youâve said,â I said with a small smirk and head tilt, âBut what I donât get is why? No one will know you gave anything up.â
âBecause Iâm loyal. I refuse to turn on my people.â
I sighed, âFine. Just remember none of them would try to save you, given the chance.â
âYou donât know that!â He shouted.
I laughed, âYou forget how many of you Iâve killed. Each and every one of them begged for death and none of them attempted to save the other.â I smiled at him before pushing dominance into my voice, âWhatâs your position with the Northcott hunters?â
I watched as he struggled against the dominance before giving in, âIâm a lieutenant.â
âHow long has your group been in South America?â I asked, keeping the dominance in my voice.
âSeveral years. I came over right after I was promoted to lieutenant a few years ago,â he said with his head bowed.
âHow did the hunters know to establish themselves near the camp?â
âThat dragon called us, told us where to set up our camp, and that he would allow us to come in and abduct all the filth we wanted, so long as we took the ones he wanted us to take first.â
âDo you have to check in at all?â
âYeah. Weâre supposed to report every other day with progress and what weâve gotten from the filths we capture.â
âDid Joseph ever come into your camp?â
âJoseph?â
âThe dragon that called your group.â
He nodded, âHe came in often with an old man. They would spend time with the filths we had captured.â
âWhat did they do?â
âI donât know. They would go in and told us if they were interrupted he would kill all of us.â
My brow furrowed, âDid you notice anything about him when they came out of the shed?â
He started to shake his head, but stopped himself, âHe seemed to walk taller and his eyes were darker, like blacker than when he would come into camp.â
âThatâs not good,â Niamh said in my head.
âWhat does that mean,â I asked her.
âWe need to talk to Daniel,â is all she said in response.
I asked the hunter a few more questions before Ianâs voice entered my head, âWeâve got a location.â
I stood to leave, âWait. Whatâs going to happen to me?â
I turned back to him, âI donât know for sure, but I know you almost definitely wonât like it.â
âPlease. You have to help me,â he said, grabbing onto the bars.
I laughed humorlessly, âWhy do I have to help you? You have tortured and raped how many of my people? I donât owe you anything.â I said before walking away as he screamed at the top of his lungs for my help. Once out of the cells, I found Ian and Leandra easily. âWhereâs the camp?â
âItâs fifty miles northeast of here,â Leandra said.
âDo you know how many there are in the camp?â
She shook her head, âThey kept us locked up, so I didnât get to see much of the camp.â
I nodded, âIâll be back. If Iâm not back before Daniel gets here, donât let him get out of hand.â
âYouâre not seriously going alone are you?â I nodded and moved my hands in a what-of-it gesture, âDo I need to remind you what happened last time you went on a mission alone?â Ian asked.
I rolled my eyes, âThis is different. I have my immunities and fun bending tricks they canât prepare for or guard against. Iâll be fine.â
He rolled his eyes, âDonât expect me to rescue your dumb ass when you get caught.â
âYeah yeah. Iâll see you when I get back,â I said before walking to the clanâs landing strip, stripping, and shifting.
