Ormâs POV
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow across the sky, I couldnât help but think about how far Lingling and I had come. Everything we had shared, from the shy glances to the late-night confessions, had brought us closer in ways I hadnât thought possible. Tonight, I wanted her to know just how much she meant to me, how she had filled spaces in my heart I hadnât even realized were empty.
We sat together on my familyâs patio, the garden around us bathed in the golden twilight. My parents were inside, giving us this time alone. Lingling had grown close to them as well, especially my dad. Heâd told me earlier that he truly admired her strength and resilience, and that he understood why I had fallen so deeply for her.
Linglingâs fingers were intertwined with mine as we sat in silence, simply enjoying each otherâs presence. Her expression was calm, but I knew her well enough to see the hints of uncertainty in her eyes.
âI feel like I finally have a place I belong,â she said softly, breaking the silence. âWith you, with your family... Iâve never had this feeling before.â
I squeezed her hand, feeling a swell of affection. âYouâll always have a place here, Lingling. With me, with my familyâweâre all here for you.â
She looked at me, her gaze filled with something deep and tender. âYou have no idea what that means to me, Orm. For so long, Iâve felt like I was drifting. But with you⦠itâs like Iâve found my anchor.â
I leaned in, brushing a soft kiss on her cheek. âYouâre not alone anymore. You never have to be.â
Linglingâs POV
Ormâs words settled around me like a warm blanket, soothing the ache that had lingered for so long. In her presence, all the heartache, the loneliness, and the disappointments faded away. I felt whole with her, like Iâd found something Iâd been searching for my entire life.
But there was still something lingering in my heart, something I needed to share with her. I took a deep breath, gathering the courage. âIâve been thinking⦠about everything thatâs happened with my parents. Itâs painful, but I feel ready to let it go. I donât want it to weigh me down anymore.â
Ormâs eyes softened, and she took my hands in hers. âThatâs brave, Lingling. You donât have to carry that weight alone. Weâre here to help you let go, to move forward.â
Tears stung my eyes, but they werenât tears of sadnessâthey were tears of relief, of hope. I felt my past melting away, replaced by the promise of something new, something beautiful.
Ormâs POV
Seeing Lingling like this, vulnerable yet strong, made me fall even more in love with her. I wrapped my arms around her, holding her close as she released the last of her pain. We stayed that way for a while, wrapped in each other, sharing the silence.
When we finally pulled apart, my dad stepped outside, giving us both a warm smile. âYou girls doing alright out here?â
Lingling nodded, a small smile playing on her lips. âYes. Thank you for everything, really.â
My dad walked over, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder. âLingling, youâre family to us now. No matter what, weâre here for you.â
Her eyes sparkled, and I could see the gratitude in them. This moment, surrounded by the people who cared about her, was something sheâd been yearning for, maybe even without realizing it.
Linglingâs POV
Ormâs fatherâs words warmed my heart in ways I couldnât describe. I had always thought love was complicated, something fleeting and distant. But here I was, surrounded by a family who loved me, who saw me for who I was. And with Orm by my side, I felt complete.
As the night drew on, we shared stories, laughter, and dreams for the future. For the first time, I dared to imagine a future with hope, with happiness, with love.
Finally, as the stars appeared in the sky, Orm and I shared a kiss under their gentle light. It wasnât just a kiss; it was a promiseâa promise of forever, of love that would withstand whatever came our way.
To be continued⦠in the journey of life.
