Chapter Fifty-Two

Jaxon

We all watched in awe and horror as the S.W.A.T. team prepared to leave the building. They all piled into their armor plated vehicles and the police chief motioned for us to follow him to the cars outside.

Michael and Luisana got into his cruiser and another police officer took Kegan, Kelsey, and I.

We were going to be waiting at a safe area far enough from the estate Tristan was believed to be keeping Grace in.

I swear to god, if that creep has hurt her in any way I will kill him.

I was seeing pure red. I couldn't believe that I had let my baby go and this had happened to her.

She had the worst luck in the entire world, and I felt like I had contributed to it.

I was supposed to be there for her throughout everything and now she was going through another trauma.

It was agonizing having to wait for the team to storm the building. I would go inside myself if it weren't for the fact I was warned I would be restrained if I couldn't behave.

I also didn't want to make it more dangerous for Grace. If they could get her out of there faster without me, then I would have to wait for her to be safe and sound in my arms again.

We all watched in silence as the armoured cars doors flung open and ten S.W.A.T. members rushed the front and back doors. They put little devices on the doors and blew up the lock. The smoke billowed around for a moment and time seemed to still as the men rushed in.

I sent prayers up to whoever was watching us up there to keep Grace safe.

I felt as though someone put a comforting hand on my shoulder when I finished my hasty prayer. And as fast as the touch had appeared, it had vanished just as quickly. I looked around me in confusion. Whatever it was, it had added a measure of calmness to my distraught thoughts.

We would get Grace back.
