As they left, Lucinda noticed several officers whispering.
Their murmurs were filled with admiration for their relationship.
âHoney,â she called out softly to Nathan.
She turned to find him staring ahead.
His face was set in a stoic expression and he was seemingly deep in thought.
âHoney?â Lucinda whispered in his ear.
Snapping back to reality, Nathan turned to face her.
âWhatâs wrong?â
âWhatâs wrong with you?â
Nathanâs mind had been occupied with thoughts of his grandfather, who seemed to monitor every action he took in the National Security Bureau.
He had recently tested a theory about this surveillance and was expecting results soon.
But how long had his grandfather been watching him?
Was his grandfather forced to do so because of his recent issues with Ronan and Mylo? Or was he under surveillance the whole time?
If it was just due to recent events, it wasnât much of a concern.
But if it was the latter, that posed a much more severe issue.
Nathan hoped for the former.
He had no memory of his parents, just his grandfather.
Despite the strictness, his grandfatherâs love for him was deep.

Nathan didnât want any mishap to ruin the bond he had with his grandfather.
âNathan?â
Nathan was once again deep in thought.
He only stirred when Lucinda called his name.
He looked at her, apologetic.
âSorry, honey.
Iâ¦â
Before he could continue, Lucinda placed her index finger against his lips, silencing him gently.
âItâs okay.
You donât need to explain.
I understand why you are worried.
â
Her understanding brought Nathan more comfort than any sweet words could.
Glancing around the corridor, Nathan leaned down and planted a soft ki*s on Lucindaâs cheek.
His eyes twinkled mischievously.
Lucindaâs cheeks flushed as she pushed him away and asked, âIs there a camera here? Arenât you worried we might be seen?â
With a proud grin, Nathan responded, âWhy should I feel ashamed to ki*s my wife? If anything, theyâre just jealous they donât have a beautiful wife like you to ki*s.
