Vivien was livid.
Without hesitation, she stormed towards Lucinda.
Eleanor pretended to try and stop her, but smiled as she watched Vivien approach Lucinda.
âExcuse me, sir!â
Vivien called out to Cyrus as she approached from behind.
He turned around and she was completely smitten by him.
She couldnât believe that there was really a man that was as attractive as her brother in Forden.
Her envy and rage towards Lucinda peaked for a moment.
âWho are you?â
Cyrus asked coldly, looking at Vivien.
Lucinda leaned over a bit and introduced Vivien with a smile.
âShe was my sister-in-law, the most arrogant person in the Roberts family.
â
Cyrusâs expression grew even colder upon hearing that.
Their whispers were not low enough, and Vivien heard all Lucinda said.
Their closeness provoked her further.
Due to Cyrusâ presence, Vivien hid her anger and acted like she was kind as she tried to persuade him.
She said convincingly, âDonât be fooled by this woman, sir.
Sheâs been married before.
She is nothing but a liar, a gold-digger who came out of an orphanage! Sheâs very canny and even had an affair with my grandfather.
And- Ah!â
Before she could finish, a loud slap echoed through the room.
This silenced all the guests.

Vivien covered her face with one hand and gaped at Lucinda in disbelief.
âHow dare you hit me?!â she exclaimed.
âYou deserved to get hit for being such a bitch.
â
Lucinda smirked, brushing her palms together.
âLooks like the Roberts family didnât teach you any manners.
How else would a proper lady talk like that?
And so what if Iâve been married before? Is there a rule saying divorced people canât come to this banquet? Your brother is in the same boat as me.
Donât talk trash about me.
Youâre just slandering and insulting me.
I could easily sue you for all you just said.
â
âYou!â
Vivien felt humiliated and ashamed as she was publicly accused of having no manners.
