The Mermaid PirateWords: 11710

Whew I finally updated... AND there's something in there you've all been waiting forrrrr :) Read and find out, and please leave your comments below. It's not that great of a chapter.. I might edit it and rewrite it later.

Today was not a good day at all... July 6th, a friend of my (not that close but a friend) passed away from a sudden sezure and the same day my best friend was flying in from a different state and a plane right after hers crashed landed.... My friend is okay but she's extremly shaken up. At the San Fransico airport, a 777 plane's tail broke off and the plane rolled three times, killing two people. Tons of prayers are needed today!

Okay sorry for making you depressed.. here's the chapter!

*Charlie's POV*

“When is she going to wake up?” An excitable, and almost musical like woman’s voice sharply whispers. Her unique voice gently stirred me awake from a dreamless slumber. I feel a dull throb on the side of my body and I am frozen in pain, lying on an uncomfortable bed.

“With any luck she won’t! That was an extremely stupid thing to do Aurora. As a princess you should...”

The same musical voice interrupts a sexy, deep voiced man who seems to be in a panic. “As a princess I should know when to and not to use my powers, blah blah blah. Shut up, I know! She was dying and was I supposed to just let her? Let her drown with out our magic? NO!”

The man groans but then grows silent, unable to answer the girl’s question. Everything around me remains silent; not one sound can be heard, or at least I don’t hear anything. I wonder who the voices of these people belong to and I feel as if I’m in a dream, struggling to wake up. My body feels light as air although, my legs feel as if they’re weighed down by something heavy and I notice I have no feeling in my toes. The throb in my side is becoming increasingly painful as I start to wake up, my head is fuzzy and I’m lost with many confused questions swirling in my head.

Broken memories flicker to me as I lie motionless on the hard bed. Memories of my dead crew springs tears to my closed eyelids and my heart collapses with grief. I struggle to remain motionless, hoping the strangers will not notice I’m somewhat conscious. I wish for them to leave but I can sense their presence still in the room and their eyes watching me closely.

Whose room am I in and where the hell am I? I come to a conclusion that I am not in a normal hospital because hospitals don’t treat pirates, but I couldn’t be in my ship’s infirmary. Our ship was on the verge of sinking when I last saw it and Nate... Oh god, Nate! I strain to remember what happened to Nate after the explosion but a wall of pain slams down. I slowly remember a ragged spear embedding itself into my body, effortlessly slicing though my skin like butter; allowing my thick crimson blood to escape. I also recall being jerked into the freezing cold ocean while my beaten up brother’s frantic screams echoed in the night air.

Among all the chaos on land, while I was floating deeper and deeper into the ocean, I had experienced the worst pain in the world. My legs had burst alive with a red hot fiery pain that had traveled all the way up my spine. The pain felt like a million hot spears stabbing me over and over, relentlessly as my soul refused to leave my body. My arms had also begun to shake with immense agony before being blinded by a burst of golden light. I felt gentle hands wrap around my body and strangely I had seen a glimpse of a large purple fish tail before finally slipping into unconsciousness...

*Prince POV*

My sister and I watch as the new mermaid’s chest rises up and down in a slow, steady rhythm. Even in sleep, she’s unsure how to breathe underwater but her new mermaid body naturally takes over. In time, she will be a powerful mermaid as shown in her unusual scales. As the human transformed the most breath taking golden scales started to form and glistened so brightly through the water, like the sun itself decided to dive into the ocean. Before the human choked on the water, small lines behind her ear, her gills, formed. Which allowed her to screech a sound so terrible, that it still echoes in my mind. My heart stung as I watched, helplessly, her go through that amount of pain. Even my own tail burned with pain when her legs fused together to form her tail.

Now she sleeps peacefully with no pain from her golden tail. Aurora was so thrilled to use her power for the first time, the power to transform a human into a mermaid. She has the rare ability that usually only appears when a queen mermaid reaches three hundred years old. Not even our mother, whose older than three hundred, has the ability. Even if she has it, it is forbidden to use it at all! Humans are unpredictable and the last one is what exposed our existence to the human race at all! That was nearly over a thousand years ago and the merman disappeared, rumored that he now wanders with the Elder, or he’s dead.

“When is she going to wake up?” my sister asks too happily. Her tail still faintly shimmers with power.

I roll my eyes with annoyance. How on earth are we going to care for this human? Or even allow her to live! “With any luck she won’t! That was an extremely stupid thing to do! As a princess you should-”

Aurora cuts me off. “As a princess I should know when to and not to use my powers, blah blah blah. Shut up, I know! She was dying and was I supposed to just let her? Let her drown without our magic? NO!” she gestures wildly with her hands. Then, she drops her voice barely over a whisper, “Her tail it’s so... powerful and royal. And the color...” she trails off.

I remain silent. I too, noticed her tail had the markings of a royal. Faint, silvery lines of our ancient language are marked on her fins. Although, they are not completed which is odd. Usually, that would mean she was a daughter of one royal but her markings don’t look half royal or full royal! Which is another question that rises. Merpeople who are usually half royals most likely came from a forbidden romance and probably never know their royal parent. Remarkable how a human has a power of the royals.

I wish I could have prevented my sister changing the stunningly beautiful human into a mermaid, which only enhanced her beauty further. I frown, hating myself that I think such a human is beautiful but my heart flutters wildly at the thought. Her high cheekbones emphases her round face and her almond shaped eyes. Her lips are delicate but full with a pale pink as the color. My sister and I had to help remove her torn clothing after she’s changed, exposing her beautiful toned torso for a split second, before her scales covered it up.

I replay the night’s events over and over in my mind, as a distraction from the mermaid that I can’t seem to stop thinking about. Opal had nearly no control over herself but pure luck, she did not lose herself like Capri did. Years of not singing had made Capri and the others weak. Forty three humans died in the hunt and one mermaid, Capri. Tears burn in my eyes but I blink them away, still trying to remember. Capri was the first to lose control then three other mermaids did too, all Opal’s friends. Two mermaids were severely injured, one now has a tear in her fin. An awful thing for any merperson to go through, she will never swim right again...

When I saw Capri killed, I had filled up with the most rage I have ever felt in my entire life. Im ashamed of my emotion because thats what brought this human here. I’m the cause of her changing, although Aurora should have just let her die. When Aurora changed her me and my sister dragged the changed human to our hidden cave nearby the castle. Nobody knows of the cave except me and my sisters, it was our childhood favorite spot to play in...

Then, still lost in my thoughts, in the corner of my eye I could have sworn I saw the mermaid flinch. Aurora gasped and whipped her head around to meet me. She did move. Aurora darts forward and hesitantly lays her hand on top of the new mermaid’s hand. The mermaid flinches again and squeezes her eyes closed, her body trembles with obvious fear.

Aurora looks at me with worry and I shrug my shoulders, unsure what to do. “It’s okay...” Aurora whispers gently. “We’re not going to-” The girl’s gold eyes snap open wide and sits straight up. Her eyes land on my tail and tries to let out a scream but all that come out are garbled bubbles. She clasps her hand over her mouth, eyes widening in shock. I can tell she’s trying to hold her breath and I smirk. “No, no! It’s okay!” Aurora says again.

“Who the hell are these people!?” The girl says, obviously clueless to our form of communication.

“We aren’t people.” I snap at her and again, she lets out a terrified yelp.

“Oh my god, oh my god. Holy mother fucking shit! I gotta get out of here.” She again mistakenly speaking aloud though the communication lines.

“Well you can’t.” I say again smugly. I’m almost enjoying this, but I can’t. At least, not completely because I feel her panic inside of my own body. I try to steady my nerves but I can’t.

“Stop it!” she screams.

I chuckle, “No need to yell.”

“Brother, stop it. Clearly she’s confused on how the way we speak around here.” Aurora scolds.

The poor mermaid’s back is against the wall, staring at us with shocked eyes. She studies us closely, her eyes never leaving our tails. I roll my eyes in annoyance.

“Why have’t they killed me yet?” the girl, yet again, wonders aloud.

“We hear you!” I scoff again.

She raises her chin proudly, her long black hair falling beautifully around her narrow shoulders. “Good!” But her voice is heavy with fear and grief.

Aurora groans and gives me a pointed look and turns back to the petrified human. “My name’s Aurora, the youngest princess of the White Pearl Kingdom. He’s my brother, middle child of King Muir and Queen Thalassa, his name is Prince Emmet and-” The mermaid’s lips start to curve up and her eyes start to light up.

“What?” I ask the mermaid. She struggles to keep a straight face but then lets out a small, garbled laugh and covers her mouth. “How dare you laugh at me?” I angrily scold.

“That’s such a human name...” She pauses with the slightest smile, eyebrows raised. “You guys heard that right?”

My mouth drops open and Aurora bursts into fit of laughter. “Thats not- no... Not at all-” I shake my head, regaining my posture. “That’s not at all a petty human name!” I defend. “After all, you humans got your language from us!”

How on earth can this new mermaid find time to joke around is beyond me. She went from one moment to be scared out of her mind to the next moment, mocking my name! She’s in no position to joke around. God, she’s just like Aurora, never serious.

I turn to leave and I catch the mermaid think something else. “He’s kind of cute... wait ew! He’s an horrid creature, my god.” My heart skipped a beat for a moment and I pause at the exit of the cave. I’m cute to her. I think to myself, but apparently I’m horrid. Those words bit into my skin like knifes and Im shocked that those words hurt me. Well, she’s an awful creature herself, and Emmet is absolutely not a human name!

HIS NAME IS REVEALED. LOL, I picked the most human/prince like name (that wasn't james). Emmet also means like warrior prince or something like that so it does have a meaning.

Please leave your thoughts! I'd love to hear them.. Hopefully I didn't disappoint you with his name, I wanted to add in a bit of humor in my story! I will update at 155 votes!!!!!
