Chapter 51 Fallen Into A Trap

Yelena was about to respond but Benedict stood up from his anger.

“Get out! The Stafford family does not welcome you here!”

Benedict was so angry that he had lost all sympathy for her, and a thought suddenly crossed his mind. “Divorce – I want to get a divorce!”

The word ‘divorce terrified Yelena. She couldn’t possibly get a divorce now!

Yelena quickly changed her stance from an aggressive one to a much weaker one, and she knelt on the floor and pleaded, “Benedict, Benedict it’s my fault! But we’ve been together for more than ten years, and even if I haven’t contributed much, you can’t just say you want a divorce!”

Suddenly she thought of something.

“Benedict, Benedict, I’ve got it! This must be Jonathan’s scheme! He had evil intentions when he came here in the first place, so he drugged me first, then Quincy… Benedict you can’t abandon me because of this, I’m a victim too! If you don’t believe me, let’s wait till Jonathan has been arrested and I’ll confront him!

Her determined attitude made Benedict believe her somewhat. However, he was still angry so he wanted her to leave, but didn’t mention divorce anymore.

Yelena breathed a sigh of relief, and she had no choice but to leave for now.

Before leaving, she looked up at the second story uneasily and said carefully, “Benedict, don’t blame Quincy, she is just an innocent young girl. She must be very upset by what happened, so you need to take time to comfort her…”

This worried Benedict as well, and when she saw him frown, Yelena took the chance to ask, “Can I see Quincy for a while? I’ll leave immediately after that.”

Benedict saw that she looked both worried and cautious at the same time, and thought she was truly concerned about her daughter, and his heart softened. After all, his daughter would probably appreciate her mother comforting her at this terrible time.

“Go and see her then. Then leave after that!”

“Yes, yes I will!”

Yelena scrambled upstairs, and once she was out of his view, a murderous look took over her.

Benedict, how dare you want to divorce me! I’ll get you another time!

Quincy was also very upset when she thought about how so many of her classmates had watched that footage of her..she really wanted to die!

The police had gone to check the CCTV, to find that the camera itself had no data because everything was stored directly on a thumb drive connected to the CCTV, and that thumb drive had gone missing.

It must have been Calista’s doing, she thought.

When Yelena stepped into the room, she could hear Quincy sobbing and her heart immediately broke.

She had wanted to blame Quincy for making a mess out of the whole thing, but now her heart ached for her daughter.

But while she could empathize with Quincy, Quincy didn’t empathize with her.

The moment Yelena stepped in, Quincy flung a pillow at her.

“It’s all your fault! If you didn’t get chased out of the house by Daddy, I wouldn’t have fallen into Calista’s trap! You can’t even take care of a thumb drive! Why don’t you just go and die!”

Yelena wasn’t angry when Quincy scolded her like this, and instead her heart went out to her and she said, “Yes yes, Quincy, it’s all my fault, so don’t be angry anymore…”

She walked over and tried to pat Quincy on the back, but Quincy slapped her hand away.

“How now? I want Calista dead!”

Quincy had a murderous look on her face, and her hands gripped the bed sheet tightly, as if she was strangling Calista’s neck..

Yelena was also angry now. “I want her dead too! If I’d known she would become like this, I would have strangled her to death when she was young!”

“What’s the use of saying all this now?!” Quincy glared at Yelena. “Go look for Wyatt, and when he’s arrested Jonathan, force him to give a false statement!”

Yelena blinked a few times. “You want Jonathan to accuse Calista?”

She shook her head, “No no no, I don’t want Jonathan to be caught! He’s very easily swayed once he’s been caught, I fear he would tell on us.”

“Are you stupid?!”

Quincy continued ranting, “All Jonathan wants is money! You just give him money and tell him that if he pushes everything on Calista, he’d just be convicted as an accomplice and go to jail for a few years, and he’ll still have plenty of money when he comes out. If he refuses to listen, then we’ll accuse him of and he can spend the rest of his life in jail!”

They were indeed like mother and daughter – even their thought process was the same.

Yelena was quite persuaded, but she was still a little hesitant, “It’s not quite enough to have only one witness testify against her…”

Quincy refused to listen to any of this.

After some time had passed. Benedict suddenly heard Yelena wail very loudly and he quickly ran over to check on them, to find that Quincy was running a fever and speaking deliriously.

When she saw Benedict, Quincy started crying piteously, “Daddy, don’t chase Mummy out! Callie is trying to get me, you’re not at home either, so only Mummy can protect me!”

Benedict glared at Yelena because his first thought was that Yelena must have badmouthed Calista in front of Quincy.

But when he thought about how sweet and obedient Quincy was, he couldn’t bring himself to believe that Quincy had masterminded this, and thought that she must have been a victim of Jonathan, so he quietly said, “Quincy. Callie is your sister, how can you say such things about her? About today…Daddy will help you settle it.”

“It’s Callie! It’s her!” Quincy cried miserably as she grabbed Benedict’s clothes. “Callie said she felt a bit. drunk and so I helped her upstairs. After that she gave me a glass of water to drink…and that happened! 1 might as well die now! How am I supposed to face anyone now?”

Quincy plopped herself on the bed and sobbed uncontrollably. Benedict had doted on her for so many years after all, so when he heard this, he asked seriously, “Are you telling me the truth?”

Yelena calmly spoke on her behalf, “Do you think she would lie to you? You think Quincy would land herself in trouble and then try to frame Calista? Quincy has been so kind to her but she’s been treated like this just because they’re stepsisters! Look at how she’s caused so much harm to Quincy! I she’s angry, she can just attack me! Quincy is only seventeen, what does she know?”

Both mother and daughter continued to cry and push their point at the same time, and Benedict slowly felt the fury rising inside him, and he angrily shouted, “This ungrateful daughter!”
