My eyes fluttered open in a fairly dark room. Adjusting my eyes to the lamp beside me, I shifted my body trying to block out the terrible pain I felt through out my entire body. I was on a bed. A very large, comfortable bed, with midnight blue covers. How I had gotten here, was the main question. My mind was blank and all I could do was try to recollect the past events. Looking around the unrecognised bedroom, I only just managed to stifle a scream when Stephen suddenly appeared on the edge of the bed.
"How did you get there?" I whispered, weakly holding my heart.
"I guess you don't remember then. Anyway, I'd just like to say Happy Birthday," Stephen stated, confusing me.
"Happy Birthday...?" I asked myself, until everything came back to me.
The man that forced himself on me,.
Robin.
My birthday.
My surprise party.
My presents.
Robert and Stephen.
Drinking my blood.
"Before you go craz--," Stephen started, moving towards me.
"Stay away from me!" I shrieked putting my fingers up in the form of a crucifix.
"Ahh! It burns," Stephen cried, rolling around on the bed in agony.
"Oh shit! I'm so sorry!" I quickly apologised, sitting up too fast, resulting in the room spinning.
"I'm just joking .Obviously I'm not affected by that small gesture Melanie." Stephen chuckled, his no longer daunting red eyes, watching me.
"Where am I and what am I doing with you? Does anyone know I'm here? What day is it?!" I began to panic. What if I had been passed out for a month? A year? Who knows!
"Oh calm down. You're at my place since you passed out on me, no one knows you're here and it's still your birthday. Answered all your questions?" Stephen replied.
"No. What the hell are you?" I quizzed quietly, as I pulled my body towards me, cradling myself in fright.
"What do you think I am?" Stephen asked a thoughtful look on his face.
"I think you're a blood sucking monster, or was I just dreaming? Maybe I'm still dreaming." I laughed crazily.
"I'd like to wake up now! I want to wake up now!" I cried.
"Melanie shut up please! If you were sleeping why would you be in my room and why would this hurt?" Stephen growled, pinching me hard.
"Ouch!" I whined.
"Don't touch me you...you..." I started
"Blood sucking monster? I'd like the term vampire. But since we're together you can call me whatever you like," Stephen smirked.
"Vampire? That's it. Can you stop with this crap please Stephen, I'd really like to get back to my party now," I insisted, refusing to believe anything to do with mystical creatures that didn't exist.
"I'm not lying to you Melanie. I'm finally telling you the truth. You don't know how scared I was to tell you, but I didn't want you finding out like this," Stephen sighed, standing up and pulling at his hair.
"What happened to the Stephen in college that used to smile a lot and tell me how much he loved me?" I murmured, looking down when I realised what I had said.
"He's still right here." Stephen whispered against my cheek, suddenly appearing in beside me. His dark eyes pierced into mine and his hand held my face firmly in its place, so that I couldn't look anywhere but at him.
"Don't touch me!" I whimpered in fear.
"Don't do this Melanie!" Stephen hissed, releasing me and reappearing in the corner of the room.
"You were supposed to accept me the way I was, not reject me!" Stephen roared, his eyes brightening, making me even more scared.
"Stephen calm down please," I begged.
"I don't want you to drink me dry again..." I mumbled, watching his fangs slide out of his teeth, as white as the clouds on a sunny day. Turning around and breathing in and out, repeatedly, Stephen spun back to face me, looking apologetic.
"I'm sorry about this; it's just...hard for me to get used to. I've never had the love of my life look at me in such fright and not want me to touch her." Stephen sighed, once again.
"Don't say things like that please. You know that we're over, because of your actions by the way and I'm going to get married next month, so please, don't start again." I pleaded, feeling my emotions for Stephen return, getting caught in my throat, making it uncomfortable to speak.
"Next month?! When did he even propose? Like four weeks ago and you guys are already getting married? What's the rush? Is he scared that you'll come back to me?" Stephen suggested, causing a light bulb to flash in my mind. Maybe he was, or maybe he just couldn't wait to get married to me.
"Plus don't you get it?! Don't you understand why I broke up with you?! I was scared of how you'd react when I told you what I was. Haven't you ever wondered why I was much paler than you, or colder than you?" Stephen reminded me.
"I thought the coldness and paleness of a vampire was only in twilight, a fictional based story," I stated.
"Well I guess that's the only thing that they got right. I don't sparkle in the sunlight as you've seen, nor can I survive from animal blood but I do try," Stephen informed me.
"So you drink from innocent people, like you did to me...Oh my gosh! I was in love with a killer. I'm speaking to a killer! Someone help!" I began to scream, only to have my hands covered by Stephen's, as well as his cool body pressed against my mine, causing shivers down my spine due to his closeness. He had flown on top of me on the bed in a matter of milliseconds! My heart hammered furiously against my ribcage and I thought that I'd pass out in horror. What if he drunk me into unconsciousness again?
"I'm gonna try this again. Please do not scream." Stephen whispered, slowly removing his hands away from my mouth, his mint breath blowing over my face in the process, reminding me of the old days.
------------------I
Stephen and I were going back to his dorm room after a date with a group of our friends. I giggled as he pulled me into his room, quickly slamming the door closed before pushing me hard against it causing his muscular body to be pressed firmly against mine, causing his cool body to ignite mine on fire, plainly due to his touch.
"I've been waiting to do this all night," Stephen informed me, as his eyes landed on my lips.
"I've been waiting for you to do this all night," I managed to whisper as my heart did back flips in my chest. His dark eyes snapped to mine and I sucked in a breath due to the intensity of them. Smashing his lips to mine, I kissed him with as much love as I could muster and wrapped my arms around his neck tightly, scared that he would disappear as my body shivered in desire. He moaned into me as his tongue merged with mine, allowing me to taste his sweet mint tasting tongue. Wrapping my legs around his torso, I moaned into him when he deepened the heated kiss. My whole body filled with so much lust and desire, leaving me slightly scared, but since I was with Stephen I knew that he would look after me carefully, so my fright soon dissolved as he gently laid me on his bed.
I gasped for air as his lips left mine and came into contact with my neck where my veins were probably about to burst due to my frantic heart beat. Feeling Stephen's teeth graze against my skin, I moaned once again arching my body into his, making him growl sexily, causing my body to press even closer to his by its own will. His teeth nibbled on my bare skin and I struggled to keep my breathing steady. Pressing his lips firmly against mine again softly, I felt his lips pull away from mine all too soon, causing me to pout sadly.
"You're gonna be the death of me Melanie," Stephen smiled making my heart beat even faster, knowing that there was some seriousness behind his statement.
"Don't worry we'll have forever and a day to get freaky," he added, smirking as he softly pushed a loose strand of hair out of my face.
"We better," I mumbled, smiling innocently. He had always been so gentle and so it made me wonder how he would be when he was rough with me. That thought alone slightly turning me on.
"Woah! I didn't know you rolled like that," Stephen chuckled, raising an eyebrow.
"You don't know a lot of things about me," I challenged.
"Well I do know one thing. You love me," Stephen stated, turning serious.
"And you love me too," I replied, punching him when he scrunched up his face.
"No, I'm joking. I love you more than you'll ever know," He smiled softly before once again crashing his lips against mine.
------------------I
Only he had lied. I had never gotten that experience from him, but from Trevor. Trevor...
"Melanie!" Stephen screamed in my face, now cradling me in his arms. Snapping my eyes up to his, I was confused as to how we got into this position and so raised my eyebrow.
"God! I thought I'd drunk you silly! You were staring into space for the past two minutes and you weren't responding. Where did you go?" Stephen asked frantically.
"Maybe you did drink me silly, since you did drink my blood until I passed out. Or have you forgotten?" I retorted, pushing myself out of his arms.
"I need to get back to my party, back to my fiancé," that I had forgotten about for however long I had been here. Standing up, I made my way towards the bedroom door.
"Not until you promise me something," Stephen stated, flashing in front of me, too fast for me to register as I barged into him.
"Go at normal speed." I grumbled, seeing a small smile play on his lips, only for it to disappear.
"How come you never smile anymore?" I blurted out, obviously not thinking before I spoke.
"How come I what? I do smile." Stephen defended, putting on a fake smile, large enough for me to fangs.
"Can you put them away please," I pleaded, closing my eyes as my heart beat began to accelerate.
"Sorry, sorry. See I do smile," He apologised.
"That was fake. What happened to the smiles that made me fall in love with you?" I whispered, opening my eyes again.
"So you fell in love with my smiles? What about me?" Stephen tried to joke, with a smirk on his lips.
"Don't joke." I snapped.
"And say what you wanna say so that I can leave." I hissed, getting irritated, even though I couldn't help but confess that I was enjoying being around him, even if we were arguing, which was why I needed to go. Now.
"Be my friend and I'll leave you alone." Stephen instructed.
"Be your friend? Are you joking me?" I chuckled, looking at him as though he was crazy.
"Don't look at me like that. I'm being dead serious." Stephen insisted. 'Dead serious,' because he was dead.
"Fine whatever," I shrugged, ignoring my heart swelling at the idea. I would not let it escalate to anything more than friends, I told myself. Moving around him, I headed straight for the light brown door in my path.
"Give me a hug first," Stephen said from behind me.
"We're acquaintances, we just say hi and bye for now. So bye," I smiled sweetly, three feet away from the door, only for it to get bombarded open. Everything happened so fast after that.
Jennifer pulled me into a tight embrace whilst Robert and Trevor walked around me towards Stephen. Since Jennifer had pulled me so that my back was towards the guys behind me, all I heard were grunts of pain. Pushing Jennifer off me , I spun around to see Robert restraining Stephen whilst Trevor drove into him with his fists and knees.
"Stop it!" I screamed, watching Stephen as he took blow after blow, not even trying to defend himself. What kind of vampire was he?
"Trevor stop it!" I cried. I had never seen Trevor like this and it scared me to death when I saw the evil gleam in his eyes.
"You made her cry," Stephen whispered, but Trevor didn't even turn to glance at me, he only continued, maybe even harder.
"I think we should stop now," Robert stated, glancing at me.
"No, I don't want this guy to think that he can get away with kidnapping my fiancé," Trevor growled
"I said stop!" Robert hissed, pushing Stephen onto the floor, so that Trevor punched the air.
"What is your problem?" Trevor quizzed, staring at my brother in disbelief.
"She's crying for goodness sake or don't you care about my little sister?" Robert tested.
"Of course I do," Trevor scoffed, yet he still hadn't made any eye contact with me.
"Let's just go please, I think he gets the message Trevor," Jennifer muttered, her eyes on Stephen and I instantly knew what she was thinking. He had changed quite a lot, physically.
"Stay away from her, otherwise I will come back and kill you," Trevor threatened Stephen, who was still on the floor watching the scene, propped up by his elbow. Without any hesitation, Trevor kicked Stephen's elbow making his chin smack hard against the hard wooden floor. Stephen's eyes brightened in colour in the slightest and so I knew that he was angry, as his eyes narrowed into slits. I was probably the only one who noticed the colour change however, since I knew his eyes like the back of my hand.
"Stephen..." I warned and his eyes instantly met mine as they always did when I called his name. Giving a firm shake of disapproval using my head, Stephen stood on his feet, towering a bit over Trevor.
"You're lucky I'm in love with her," Stephen mumbled before turning towards his bedroom just as Trevor tried to jump him but was held back by Robert.
"Go!" Robert instructed.
"What about you?" Trevor groaned.
"I wanna minute with him. I'll see you back at Mels," He answered.
"What the hell was that?!" Trevor yelled, pushing me into my bedroom so that we couldn't be heard.
"Don't push me!" I screamed back. How dare he lay a hand on me!
"You didn't answer my question. What the hell was that? Why were you at his house? Huh?!" Trevor pried.
"I can't exactly remember why. I remember taking a walk and then waking up in his house!" I defended, lying the tiniest bit but I knew he wouldn't notice, which showed how much he knew me.
"I hope your not lying, besides why didn't you leave straight away?" Trevor questioned, his voice now back to normal.
"Where did you think I was going when you busted in? To the shop to buy us food?!" I replied, irritated.
"Just go! I want some space and your shouting isn't helping." I commanded.
"You can't send me out!" Trevor exclaimed.
"I just did. It's my room, in my house so get out!" I shouted, storming into the bathroom and locking it after me.
Sighing in anger, I noticed two blood red spots on my neck. Confused, I moved closer to the mirror and noticed that they were probably from when Stephen had bit me. I was definitely going to kill him.
Acquaintance my ass!
