Chapter 9: Chapter Nine

He Came Back To Make Me His.Words: 9704

“Happy Birthday Sis,” My brother Robert smiled, his blue eyes shinning as he laughed at my expression. Running over to him like a little girl, I flung my arms around him as tears began to spill over.

“I’ve missed you so much,” I cried as everyone awed and observed us.

“I missed you too. Enjoy your birthday for now and we’ll speak about this later.” Robert whispered, slowly releasing me from his muscular arms before giving me a soft push in Trevor’s direction as I fiercely wiped away my tears, glancing over my shoulder to make sure that Robert was actually there.

“Should we get this party started?!” Robert yelled, holding his glass of champagne in the air, receiving cheers in agreement, as the music started blaring through someone’s speakers.

“Did you persuade him to come?” I asked as Trevor’s hand enveloped mine and we walked towards the kitchen.

“I didn’t really need to. I just asked him if he wanted to come to his sister’s surprise birthday party and he was more than eager to,” Trevor answered

“Well aren’t you the best fiancé any girl in the world could ask for,” I stated, pressing my lips to his so that he could not respond. His tongue merged with mine and I relished every moment of it as I felt him moan, pulling me even closer to his forever warm body.

“Alright, alright. I’d like to give the birthday girl her birthday present now, so if you guys wouldn’t mind,” I heard Debby groan in the background. Laughing, I pushed Trevor away, smiling when I saw him glaring at her, pulling me closer.

“Jealous are we?” Trevor mocked

“Nope,” Debby replied, rolling her eyes. Handing me a cute hot pink gift bag, I pulled out a simple black box, wondering what it was with boxes today and opened it. Inside was a silver charm bracelet with one charm, which was a cupcake with a candle on it. It reminded me awfully of the charm bracelet Stephen had brought me for my 19th birthday, which Jasmine returned to him after we broke up.

“It looks cute but I don’t think that it beats my present,” Trevor commented showing her the necklace that he brought me, causing his hand to move terribly close to my chest. If I was paying enough attention, I would have scowled at him but I was too busy trying to check if the bracelet in my hand was the one that Stephen had given me years ago.

“I think she likes my present since she hasn’t stopped staring at it. Sorry Trevor. Stephen helped me pick it out; he told me that you guys used to be close friends in College. Why didn’t you tell me Mel?” Debby quizzed. At the mention of Stephen’s name my eyes immediately snapped up to meet Debby questioning ones.

“I didn’t really think there was any need to,” I quickly responded, trying to keep cool. I guess they were still seeing each other then, but what did I expect? I should be happy for him, he’s moved on…again.

“Close friends my ass,” I heard Trevor mumble.

“Could you guys leave me with Melanie for a second please,” Robert stated from the kitchen doorframe as he watched us.

“Yes we can,” Debby replied, watching my brother, who nodded in her direction as she dragged an annoyed Trevor out with her.

“So, what have you gotten so far?” Robert questioned, leaning against my cupboards, pressing his dark brown hair against them as his intimating blue eyes focused on me.

“Well Trevor got me this necklace and ---,” I started

“Don’t tell me the dick finally did it,” Robert interrupted, nudging his head towards my hand.

“You sound like one of my friends from work,” I laughed, remembering when Martin had said that, when he first saw my ring.

“And yes, he finally did do it,” I smiled until my eyes landed on my hand which held the charm bracelet.

“And Debby, one of Trevor’s co-worker’s and her boyfriend Stephen got me this bracelet,” I mumbled, the word boyfriend slipping out of my mouth.

“It looks familiar and I hope her boyfriend isn’t the one that you used to date,” Robert joked, smiling as he moved closer before snatching the bracelet. I already knew what would happen and braced myself for his anger.

“He is the same guy isn’t he? This looks like the exact same bracelet that you would not stop shoving in my face at your 19th birthday. What a fucking small world,” He cursed

“Have you seen him since he’s been going out with that model?” Robert asked

“Yeah, he dropped by at work,” I muttered, not facing him.

“I hope your not fucking with me Melanie. What do you think you’re doing?! He was the one who split us up, or have you forgotten that we weren’t talking for two years because of him?!” Robert growled

“Obviously I haven’t forgotten, but maybe if you had just comforted me like I wanted you to do, then our relationship as brother and sister would have been fine! All he did was try to speak to me, leaving out the fact that he tried to kiss me.” I replied

“You almost what?!” Robert screamed. Luckily due to the loud music, no one ran in wondering what happening, except for Jennifer and Jasmine that is.

“She almost what?” Jasmine asked

“I bet she almost ran away with Trevor to get married in Vegas. I knew she’d do that,” Jennifer joked, laughing with Jasmine.

“She almost kissed Stephen.” Robert hissed, rubbing his temples as his 6’2 height towered over me dangerously.

“When was this?” Jennifer asked, looking confused.

“Jasmine, remember when we went out to celebrate my engagement and you found me crying….” I wondered off, knowing that she would put the pieces together.

“I can’t remember that far back….actually. He tried to kiss you then? You should have told me, I would have called someone to beat his fucking ass!” Jasmine exclaimed

“How close were you two? Were you guys literally just about to kiss, or did you brush lips? What?” Jennifer quizzed.

“He just kissed my neck,” I confessed stupidly

“Damn it Melanie. Could you be even more stupid?!” Robert yelled, his eyes now narrowing at me, his stupid younger sister.

“I didn’t kiss the fricking guy so obviously I’m not stupid Robert. Can you guys just stop breathing down my neck? He already said that he’ll leave me alone three weeks ago. So let’s forget about it,” I pleaded getting frustrated. It was my birthday and here they were shouting at me. What a nice flipping reunion.

“No. I’m not gonna forget about it,” Robert roared.

“Fine then, I’m leaving.” I retorted

“You can not leave your own birthday party,” Jennifer scoffed

“Yes I can and if anyone asks why, tell that that it was Robert’s fault.” I replied

“You’re being childish.” Robert shouted after me but I ignored him. Dodging everyone with my eyes glaring at the floor, I easily slipped out of the house and stormed out of the apartment building.

As if forgetting what had happened last night, I continued walking down the empty road, feeling my body begin to shake in the coldness. Darn this winter weather! Cursing underneath my breath I noticed a couple kissing slightly bent over in front of me. Cute, I thought bitterly even though I and Trevor had been full on making out only twenty minutes ago. Continuing to speed walk towards them, something seemed wrong. The girl looked limp in the man’s arms whilst he appeared to be kissing her neck, or sucking on it.

“Hey, what are you doing?!” I called hoping to scare the man off, only for it to have an opposite effect. The man instantly moved his lips away from the body in his arms and red eyes were now piercing into mine making me freeze. Other than the red eyes, the man resembled Stephen.

Stephen. He looked exactly like him except for the fangs, blood and eyes which made me question myself. Wait did I just say fangs…with blood dripping all over them?!

“Is this some sort of Halloween prank?” I whispered not believing anything I saw.

“No Halloween prank my beauty, but you do smell delicious, maybe you can be my treat,” Stephen purred, his voice sounding so detached, deep and dangerous, like nothing I had heard from his lips before.

“Stephen if that’s you, you better cut it out,” I stated strongly, trying to foreign my fright.

“I have no clue who you are but I hope you blood tastes as sweet as your voice sounds,” Stephen smiled evilly, suddenly appearing right in front of me, making me gasp in horror. He had been at least twenty feet in front of me a second ago! This man is definitely not my old Stephen, right now I had no clue who or what he was.

“You surely do smell sweeter than anything that I’ve ever smelt,” Stephen added, sniffing my neck as I stood as still as a statue too scared to move. Why the hell did I leave my own party again?!

“I’m not going to kill you darling, so calm down; I’m just going to take a sample…” Stephen informed me before I felt my skin breaking and an ear splitting scream that didn’t even sound like my own voice. I had always known that he had sharp teeth, but I didn’t know that it was this sharp, skin penetratingly sharp! The pain soon turned into ecstasy, one that I had never experienced in my life and before I knew it I was moaning and gripping onto his clothes so that the feeling didn’t fade away. Faintly remembering Trevor, I opened my lips to speak and bean feeling light headed.

“Stephen…” I managed to whisper as my eyes began to feel heavy

“Trevor…” my lips mumbled and I felt Stephen’s teeth abruptly leaving my throat causing the amazing sensation to come to an end.

“Melanie?...Melanie! Shit, stay with me! Keep your eyes open,” Stephen screamed but with a faint smile, I drifted into darkness.
