Chapter 47: 𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗬 𝗙𝗜𝗩𝗘

DAYLIGHT, billie eilishWords: 3780

THE SUN WAS LOW ON THE horizon as they strolled along the beach, their fingers intertwined comfortably. the air was crisp, carrying a gentle breeze that rustled through their hair. the waves lapped gently at the shore, and the golden glow of the setting sun made everything feel a little softer.

valerie smiled as she glanced at billie, her heart swelling with a quiet happiness. they had just made up a couple of weeks ago, and now here they were, walking together like they were always meant to. still, despite how much they had already shared, billie seemed to have something she was holding back.

"hey, vei?" billie said, her voice slightly hesitant, yet filled with warmth.

valerie looked over at her, sensing the shift in her tone. "yeah?"

billie paused for a moment, her eyes scanning the horizon before settling back on valerie. "i know it's probably a little too soon... and maybe you're not ready, but i just can't shake it. i love you. like, really love you. and i can't imagine not telling you anymore, even if it feels like it's fast or whatever. i don't wanna rush you or make you feel like i'm pushing things, but i just had to say it."

valerie's heart fluttered at the words, the familiar warmth spreading through her chest. she couldn't help but smile at billie, squeezing her hand tighter. "billie," she began, her voice soft but firm, "i love you too. you don't have to worry about that."

billie looked at her, a small, relieved smile breaking across her face. "yeah?" she asked, her voice quiet but hopeful.

"yeah," valerie confirmed, stepping closer to her. "we've already been through so much. i don't think anything could make me feel differently about you."

billie's eyes softened as she stepped forward, closing the distance between them. "so... are we like, doing this? i mean, officially?"

valerie laughed softly, a teasing glint in her eye. "i think we're already doing it, billie."

billie grinned, clearly feeling lighter now, her hand reaching up to brush a stray lock of hair from valerie's face. "i'm glad," she said, her voice a little breathless. "really glad."

they stood there for a moment, just looking at each other, letting the reality of it all sink in. the world felt quieter in that moment, as if everything had faded away except for the two of them.

"this feels right," billie whispered, her smile soft and content. "i don't want to let this go."

valerie's heart swelled with affection as she reached up, cupping billie's face in her hands. "you don't have to. i'm not going anywhere."

billie leaned into her touch, closing her eyes for a moment. "i can't believe we're finally here," she said softly, almost to herself.

"me neither," valerie agreed, her fingers brushing gently against billie's cheek. "but i'm glad we are."

there was a pause, and then billie's eyes twinkled with mischief. "so... are we seriously, like, official now?" she asked, her voice teasing.

valerie chuckled, rolling her eyes playfully. "yeah, billie. we're official."

billie grinned, then leaned in and kissed her softly, savoring the taste of it, the warmth of the moment. when they pulled away, billie was smiling like she'd won a prize, her eyes sparkling. "you're really my girlfriend, huh?"

valerie smiled back, her heart racing. "yeah, i'm really your girlfriend."

billie leaned her forehead against valerie's. "god, this is so surreal."

valerie laughed softly, pulling billie into a tight embrace. "it doesn't have to be surreal, billie. it's real."

they stayed there, wrapped up in each other, the sound of the waves crashing in the background. the world felt perfect, like they were exactly where they were supposed to be. the rest of it-the noise, the chaos-didn't matter. it was just the two of them, and that was enough.
