I felt so stiff, so cramped. I tried to turn myself around from this awful position I was sleeping in.
Big Mistake.
âOwâ¦â I groaned as I tried to get myself up from falling on the ground.
âJuliet!â a newly familiar voice rang. Finny. âOh my God, are you alright?â he asked as he helped me up.
âWow, this is the first girl I ever saw that slept so much, I almost thought you were dead.â I heard another voice say with a laugh. Donnie.
Trying to open my eyes fully seemed impossible, it actually hurt being around all this light.
âIâ¦.what?â was all that managed to come out my mouth. I had actually wanted to ask âwhat time was itâ but my sleepy aftereffects were kicking in making it impracticable to speak aloud.
As my vision became clearer I got a view of everyone. Finny was standing near me with that boyish charm, and Donnie, sitting at the table with Adrian, stared at me with a smile. Adrian of course didnât bother looking at me, he just kept drinking whatever he had in his cup and reading a file.
âYou should have let her sleep in the bed Adrian, you didnât even sleep there last night.â Finny said in a weary tone almost as if he was a bit frustrated.
There was no response to that. How typical Vandermir. I struggled it off and asked, âWhat time is it?â
âTwo in the afternoon, you could sure sleep a lot I got to admit.â Finny said with a small laugh.
Oh my God. Was it really that time?
âWell itâs good that youâre awake now, Iâve got something for you,â he continued as he gave me a large bag.
Placing the bag in my hands I saw there were a number of clothes, makeup and other essential stuff inside it. âOh, youâ¦.didnât have to get me anything.â I replied a bit awkwardly.
No stranger ever went through this much trouble for me before.
âYes, clothing isnât that essential to her Finneas, so why must you go through that much trouble?â I heard Adrian with his icy silk voice chuckle.
That dog.
He still hadnât looked at me. My anger toiled already and it hasnât even been a full five minutes since I woke up yet. Almost as if Finny knew I was going to snap he interrupted me, âCome on,â he said as he pulled me into the office room with him.
âUmmâ¦.I donât even know what to tell you Finneas, Iâve only met you yesterday and youâve only been kind to me.â I stated a bit embarrassed.
âDonât make me feel like a stranger Juliet.â
But we areâ¦
There was something about him, I was confused as to how someone as generous as him could be friends with someone like Adrian Vandermir. What did he have to do with those dangerous men like Ricardo and Donnie. He was nothing like any of them.
âWhatâs with you?â I asked a bit curious, âWhy are you so nice to me? Everyone else here has been a pain, so why arenât you?â
My question seemed to falter his innocent smile. I didnât mean to say anything hurtful to him, then why did he look like he was in pain?
âIâm sorry, I shouldnât have said anything.â I said taking it back regretfully. Right now, I didnât want to get on the wrong side of the only one whoâs been genuinely kind to me.
âYou just remind me of someone who was once close to me.â He answered putting back on his smile, but for some reason it looked broken.
âOhh, I see.â
âSo,â he continued changing the topic and walking towards the bookshelf scanning through the books, âI believed Adrian told you why youâre here now?â
âYes,â I sighed, âIn his own screwed up way, he did.â
âYou judge him too harshly.â Finny laughed, âHe isnât a bad guy you know.â
âMy, youâre awfully fond of him.â
âActually, in a brotherly way I am. Maybe you need to give him some time.â
âAny more time and Iâd be dead.â I scoffed.
âIâm actually surprised with you, normally women love him and die to just be seen with him yet you want to keep your distance. I find it rather amusing.â
This kid was crazy.
âCan we stop? Iâm starting to get the chills just thinking about him.â I say in a playful tone which made him gave another one of his cute boyish laughs.
âAlright, just get ready quickly. Iâm sure youâre hungry.â He said as he walked out.
The clothes which he bought were really adorable, there was this really cute white dress with pink polka dots. Although it was a bit short, it was decent. After brushing my teeth, showering, changing, and combing my hair I headed back out where I saw Adrian alone. Great. He was still ignoring me. Such a bastard. Spitefully, I sat on the chair in front of him resting my elbows on the table.
âIâm hungry.â I said trying to get his attention.
âCall room service.â He replied still continuing to ignore me.
âCanât you cook?â
âDonât you ever shut up?â
âHmm, who lit the fuse to your tampon?â I giggled back.
It seemed like I was reaching his limit because he took his stuff and went in the office room without sparing me one glace. Wow, he must really be mad about something. Whatever, I mean, why should I care? Ignoring that, I headed to see what he had in his refrigerator.
Oh⦠My⦠God.
It was a little kidâs dream inside there, there were like a variety of chocolate, all were dark though. That was like heaven for me because I loved dark chocolate! There were also a mega variety of ice creams, fruits, yogurts, etc. What really struck me was that large amount of dark chocolate. Adrian Vandermir has a sweet tooth? Wow, I didnât see that one coming. I took one of the large chocolate bars and shut the fridge before I actually fainted. This guy is nuts, maybe heâs so irritable, energetic and snappy because of consuming so much candy? I mean yeah, he got a couple of fruits and salads and non-fat yogurt, but really? Was he in a secret partnership with Willy Wonka?
I walked up and down the place chomping on that chocolate bar. Honestly, I was becoming really frustrating just being alone and it hadnât even been fifteen minutes since he went into that room. Iâm going to talk to him whether he likes it or not. Sitting at the desk doing some sort of paperwork, I entered without a word or knock which annoyed him because I saw the quick furrow on his eyebrows.
âIâm bored.â I said childishly as I sat on top his desk.
It seemed to surprise him and at the same time irritate him even more because I was like he would say, âa nuisanceâ. Still, he kept continuing his ignorance on me but spoke nonetheless in a careless manner, âWhat do you want me to do about it?â
âYouâre such a drag.â I stated bringing my feet up the desk.
âGet off.â
âNo way. By the way, do you want?â I asked him waving the half bar of chocolate in front of his face.
âMove.â He demanded again but I simply overlooked that command.
âDonât tell me what to do. Anyway, what I want to know Mr. Wonka is to why you have that much chocolate? Maybe you should stop with all that, I mean it isnât doing you any good. You canât make something bitter be sweet, just like you; no matter how much chocolate you eat nothing can mend that cold metal heart of yours.â I said poking him on the chest with a smug smile on my face, and voice dripping of sugar and snide. Suddenly, he pulled me across the table on top of him and dangerously slid his hand on my waist.
âThis is uncalled for.â I stated as I gritted my teeth.
Damn I should have worn a longer dress today.
âYou wanted my attention? You were bored? My type of games isnât the kinds you play Greene, so you should know who youâre dealing with.â
âLet go of me.â
âNot yet.â He said as he mirrored that same smug look I had on my face just a minute ago.
âAm I interrupting something here?â a voice abruptly appeared from behind.
Ricardo walked in as if nothing was happening. Quickly pulling away from Vandermir, I straightened my dress neatly as he got up and leaned in front of the desk to talk to Ricardo. Iâd never thought Iâd see the day when I was happy to see Ricardo.
âNothing was being interrupted really, I was just teaching Ms. Greene some manners.â Adrian said with a chuckle.
Manners?
âGo to hell.â I muttered to myself but he heard me, they both did.
âMaybe next weâll do something about that mouth of yours, it seems to have no training what-so- ever.â He smirked.
This was it. He was just too horrible.
âDamn you.â I hissed as I went into his room and slammed the door behind me.
